In 2116. War was beginning.
For fifteen years, the Empire has reigned supreme across the land. Their oppression has left the people beaten and hungry. It has been a long time since the word "resistance" was even uttered, and yet, resistance is the only way to break the despair of the Empire's iron grip. Secretly, (up to) ten of you have started to assemble, planning means to sabotage the Empire's crucial bases and wrest control away. The "Union", you call yourselves. One can only hope you succeed.
However, the Empire is aware of your existence. They dare not execute you publicly, fearing you would be made into martyrs. Their plot is far more insiduous... they have implanted spies into your ranks, spies that you must root out. For failure to do so will mean the end of you, and the end of your mission. Good luck.
Resistance - You win by achieving three successful operations, while keeping the identity of your leader hidden.
Spies - You win by causing three operations to fail.
The game ends as soon as one team reaches its goal.
- Setup - Each player receives a PM telling them their role, Resistance or Spy. Role PM examples will be given at game start. Spies are also given the identity of the other spies. The number of spies will depend on the number of players (a maximum of four). There is also a Resistance Leader, who will alsobe given the identity of the other spies - however, he must keep himself hidden.
- Selection Phase - In this phase, one player is assigned as the Leader. The leader changes each selection phase, in an order determined randomly at the start of the game. It is the leader's job to choose a team for the current mission. The size of the team will depend on the mission and the number of players. This phase has a time limit of 96 hours. (Time passes at half speed during weekends)
- Voting Phase - In this phase, each player votes on the selected team. Votes are sent via PM, but will be revealed publicly at the end of the phase. If a majority (>50%, ie 6 or more in a 10-player game) votes to accept the team, then the game proceeds to the operation phase with the selected team. If half or more of the players vote to reject the team, then the game returns to the selection phase with a new leader. A non-vote will be treated as accept. Should five consecutive teams be rejected, the resistance will fall into disarray and the spies will win automatically. This phase has a time limit of 48 hours.
- Operation Phase - In this phase, each member of the selected team must PM me either "pass" or "fail". If any member submits a "fail", then the operation is leaked to the Empire and is a failure. If everyone on the team submits "pass", then the operation is a success. Resistance members must submit "pass". A non-submission will be treated as "pass". After the result of the operation phase is revealed, the selection phase for the next operation begins (unless a win condition has been met). This phase has a time limit of 24 hours.
- Final Phase - Should the resistance achieve their third successful mission, the Empire and its spies will be given one final opportunity to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. The spies are revealed, and are given a single chance to identify the resistance leader. Should they choose correctly, the Empire will assassinate them and the resistance will surely fall apart, giving the spies the final victory. Should the spies fail to identify the leader, the resistance will win. This phase has a time limit of 72 hours.
