Why are there so many avatars not showing up? I'm just curious.

I think mine's not showing up because my school's server is down so the site can't find my avatar. Incidentally, that the server is down really blows.

Does the choice to copy the avatar to the site work properly? I do not know because, at the moment I do not have an avatar. But the copy to the site feature, I would think, would allow your avatar to be viewed as long as this site is up. Not that this is a perfect place to post things if you want to keep them!!!

Just some random thoughts.

I'm sure it works properly, the question should really be: Is that feature turned on? And is it's current on/off state the one we want to use.

I always figured ther was a size limit or something to that effect.Who knows?

There is a size limit. I think it's 80x80... I could check, but I'm lazy.

A couple of days ago I tried numerous times to upload a new avatar to the site, and each time it denied me. At first it said it was too large (and yes, the maximum dimenions are 80x80), then it said the

file

was too big (maximum of 6K), and then, after triple-checking to make sure I met both of these requirements, it just plain gave me a bizarre error message (don't remember what it said).

Is it me, or is there a problem with uploading avatars?

if you want, i can put your avatars on my glpics account- that way, if the server is down again or whatever, you won't have to worry about not seeing your avatars because mafiascum will be down too :-/

yeah.... so IM me and i'll give you my glpics password and you can upload it youself, -well, for the next hour or so until i change the password agian.

mith or jeep or whoever-

think hy would be mad if we made a glpics account for avatars and had a generic password so people could upload thier own at thier leisure?

I got the same error message that Dourgrim got when I tried to upload an avatar for myself. I then checked to make sure it met the criteria, noticed that it did, and tried again. Same error. Rather annoying...

Can't upload, only linking to offsite avatars is allowed. mith, do we want to allow uploading avatars?

someone try uploading an avatar... but be warned, if mith says this feature is disabled, your avatar will be deleted...

If you still cannot load an avatar, let me know and I'll alter the ermissions one more time.

It worked uploading from my computer. Haven't tried uploading from a url yet...

There is both a pixel size limit (80x80?) and a file size limit- 4kb, or something. If you're linkin the picture by it's url, make sure it's typed in right- or maybe the picture was moved/lost/deleted by the host of that url.
