PM read, still sitting in my outbox

I've got a PM from forever ago (last summer) sitting in my outbox to mastermind.

Thing is, it's marked as read. Was it actually read or am I just nuts?

I've come across this happening a couple times, the best I can give you is that there are certain scenarios where it is possible to have "read" the message without actually triggering all of the changes that come with that. RedCoyote had this issue with some of his messages a while ago.
