In post 24, Fenchurch wrote:Yup, mine is directing to this type of url:

http://forum.mafiascum.net/viewtopic.ph ... ead#unread

And it sometimes initially loads at the first unread post (with the red page icon next to it), but then always immediately bounces back up to the top of the page instead. It's the same with any kind of url that should direct to a particular post, eg:
http://forum.mafiascum.net/viewtopic.ph ... 2#p5117912

So it's weird because it's almost working but then not. But it only started doing this recently, so I'm not sure what could have changed.
That sort of behavior makes me 99.44% sure this is a browser bug.

But, that said, I'm not talking about the #unread part of the URL. In the actual page source code, you should be able to Find the text:

Code: Select all

<a id="unread">

Fen I am almost certain you will see this, because your browser is finding the right post and then jumping to the top. I am more curious right now if gorckat sees it.

Yep- I just remembered to check this out at home and not work or the phone :P

I see the unread tag in the Page Source- just checked the 'Requesting Hydra Activation' thread.

Code: Select all

<a id="unread"></a>
	<div id="p5117210" class="post bg2 unreadpost">

ADD: I popped over to phpbb.com and hitting a 'go to last post' link worked correctly, came back here and logged out and it also worked, taking me to the end of the thread.

Trying a different skin now.

ADD2: Nope- mafSilver behaves like mafSep does- takes me right to the top of the page, not the post.

That's REALLY weird. Try scuMobile just for giggles? The other two use the same template code (not theme, obv), so I'm not surprised they'd act the same.

I can think of no reason being logged in would make a difference... everything I've found on phpbb3 points to a browser problem.

Nope. Same thing on scuMobile.

I wiped cookies and hard refreshed. Tried Private Browsing.

I guess if there is no 'Aha!' moment I'll get around to backing up and re-installing Waterfox to see if that does it.

Registering and logging in to phpbb.com has the links working right.

Ya'll just run a junky site that is behind the times and can't handle 64-bits computering!

Also, downloaded Waterfox tonight. It's doing the same thing to me.

...but 64-bit Cyberfox loads them just fine, so I'm now certain it's a browser issue (no idea why it would just start up when that browser hasn't been updated in half a year...)
