Countdown tags do not take DST into account

Code: Select all

[countdown]3 days[/countdown]

yeilds
(expired on 2015-02-20 13:17:39)
from 12:17:39 EST.

Autoformats to

Code: Select all

[countdown]2015-02-20 13:17:39 -4.00[/countdown]

However, this is incorrect for EST as it is not DST right now, I have this marked on my UCP. It should be -5.00, not -4.00, and it should show 12:17 not 13:17. For technical countdown purposes, it shows the correct time remaining, but anyone looking at it, or looking at old ones, will see an incorrect time for the deadline listed - a time that is one hour later than actual.

This is very annoying for 1) people who use the "x days" mechanic to autoformat, and 2) for people who actually check the specific deadline time since some mods don’t put the actual day/time.

Not to mention, mods will receive PMs saying things like "HEY DEADLINE SAYS THIS TIME BUT ITS NOT THIS TIME YET WTF!?!?" when deadline expires, and it looks like it was done an hour early.

And for anal retentive people like me who need/want exact exactness.
Art is cool.

But then there's stuff like when I change to my own timezone and it confuses people even more.

(expired on 2015-02-18 19:30:00)

everyone gets the -4 regards of settings.

*It may be held by someone else if you discount the major downtime in 2012 and 2014, I'm not doing the research.
