Can't add user to friends list

I like to add everyone that I'm in a game with to my friends list so I can see if they're online from the bookmarks page. One of the people that I want to add, their profile says "User is inactive: Profile details changed", and when I try to add them, it says "The usernames you specified could either not be found or are not activated users."

I don't know how much of this goes into ongoing games, but it looks like he changed his email, which deactivated his account, he needs to confirm the change on the new email before it gets reactivated. The friends list doesn't appear to support the addition of inactive users, which I think is a feature not a bug.

I don't think it means anything about ongoing; I friended everyone from a game that just filled but doesn't have a thread up yet, and that reminded me to also friend people from games that started since the last time I remembered that I like to do this.
