Like that's true, my thought was that we have to give town reads to vote who to heal so avoiding that isn't doable. But by at least by avoiding scum reads the bad guys don't know who would be likely to kill who, so they can't manipulate townies to detonate themselves anyway.

A different solution could be ignoring why people have what switch and just leaving it up to a group decision. Like if I went "I think Votato is scum. I have their switch, should I use it?" That way scum can't really decide if they're ever safe.

What is the downside of scum getting the heal? Like if we do decide to go a bit more random with the Heal, it takes away some small influence town would have day 2, but it doesn't really give more to scum. As scum are already giving the switches out how they want to start.

I'm still wondering if there is a nontown read based criteria to give the heal too. Like someone reliable regardless of alignment, I think more experienced players could have better input on this if anyone feels they want to way in. My first instinct though might be Votato as I think they usually have good gut reads, and would make very similar calls as scum or town.

P.S. how do I do the Vote to Heal thing?

i think there are probably people who have better reads than me, including gut-level reads. i dont know how much benefit town really gets from controlling one switch though. it seems like by ending day 1 early we give scum the least info to go on to arrange the switches, but also give us the least info to go on for the one switch we (ideally) pick. i think most likely scum benefits from having more content on day 1 more than town does, and town can simply treat day 2 as day 1 here.

Actually if we just all agreed to totally ignore who has what switch, we could just do reads normally. unless there's a drawback to that im missing. for now ill just do the townreads though and I'll think more abt it!

I think the issue behind this is a prisoner's dilemma sort of deal. It's beneficial for us as a group to all do it, but it's most beneficial for me to let you all do it and I use my switch however I like. Which results in people not honoring this in practice.

oh game theory. fun. what you're overlooking is that people tend to ignore the dominant strategy in favor of the socially optimal outcome far more often than pure theory is able to predict. in a social deduction game explicitly reliant on cooperation where survival is dependent on being viewed as a part of the in-group, its even more likely that we will see cooperation, since defection spells instant death for the defectors.

actually i think klick is the most towny out of the bigger loop. I'd even say klick is maybe townier than tux. so i think id want datisi to activate first, and go around the loop backwards from there.

i think the optimal switch order for town is STS. so they want to hold the switch of the townie holding their partner's switch. that means the small circle is all town. if it isnt all town id only be willing to go for tuxedo. but i think we are safe in saying the scumpairs are either {datisi, ico} or {beeboy, kanna}. this assumes that im correct about the switch order and that klick is town, and that the smaller circle is town. im confident in all three propositions.

so i think if datisi activates kanna, bee activates datisi, ico activates bee, and klick activates ico, i think we win.

we can actually kill all the way down to two players. we choose the two survivors from the small circle, and then simultaneously lynch and activate switch to kill to two players. it does require one of the remaining two to self-vote i think maybe though. depends on whether a switch can be activated in twilight.

its still works. say there are four people left: {Kanna, Morning, Tuxedo, votato}. we decide that i am the most likely scum among the small circle, for example. morning is holding my switch, so tuxedo votes for kanna. then morning activates my switch and immediately hammers, since the hammer will then only need two votes.

The activation of the switch would reset the votes. The vote in the same post would be counted.

Sorry, I really don't feel good betting the whole game that for some reason scum put themselves outside of the small group. I think I'd actually like Morning to blow up Votato. That's where I'm at. It's a good solution, but a solution to a problem you could have created. Basically all we know is scum created two loops. Why would they both go in the same loop?

the problem isnt one i created. we can rig it so we get to pick two people to survive, and mafia has no power over who those two people are. i kinda think that there is scum in my loop. i kinda think i hold the switch for that scum. im open to other people suggesting which two survive. but im afraid im going to insist on my plan here.

Well with the lack of activity the sheer numbers in this tell me town is feeling demotivated. Only two scum, and it seems a lot more than two players aren't really engaging.

For scum specifically, it really depends on who's scum, if it's Votato/Morning then it's pretty obvious scum are motivated and should feel motivated because they're in a great spot. If it's not them, then it's obvious scum are feeling demotivated, probably because they're waiting to die when the plan starts and don't really see how to argue against it? But that resignation to face the 'optimal' play seems way more townie, which again seems to point to motivated scum in Votato/Morning.

the plan doesnt require scum cooperation. if scum prematurely flip a switch they become the lynch. as long as 3/4 are town we win if a switch is flipped. i dont think it makes any sense for scum to hold a scum switch, thats way too little power. TSTS makes way more sense. this plan gives town total control over who dies, so we only have to correctly sort 2 people. thats pretty fucking great odds.

morning is town largely based on meta, but i dont mind both myself and morning being dead in the final plan. not sure if im confident enough in tux. i mostly townread tux but he has been dodgy today.

This town was extremely disciplined and it made scum's job so much more difficult. When I initially designed the setup, I assumed there would be at least one lolactivation by town at some point during Day 2, but there really weren't any Not Mafias in this game. Then again, I think scum was one town disaster away from winning. votato, I'm interested to hear if you ever came close to activating Tuxedo's switch on the basis that Tuxedo was gunning for Morning to off you. If votato snap killed Tux, and Morning reacted by killing votato, scum would've been able to quickhammer.

i was pretty tempted to activate tux's switch when he kept going against the plan. ever since lover's mafia tux has been very hesitant to townread me, and ive had trouble sorting him, too. but i would have done it near the end of the cycle, since i knew me activating and being wrong would mean id die and that would be really bad for town and the plan.

Well I think it would of also been beneficial if one of the three circle buddies was known to be tinfoily/paranoid which none of them are. The whole point of making the circle was to introduce WIFOM to their strong townreads.

MT from my knowledge is pretty confident in terms of townreads.
Votato is votato is will go with what they believe regardless of how good it is (the votato standard, at times it's actually a strong middle finger to mafias plans).
Tuxedo is perhaps the most paranoid of the bunch, but you gotta actively fuel it more and more. Even then, tuxedo tends to stick to a plan.

Had somebody like me been in there who is realtively susceptible to chasing WIFOM it would of been perfect in my eyes.
