Pooky slowly lit his pipe as he observed the quiet conversation below him, he had been quietly studying the passengers movement as he nursed his glass of whiskey - a stiff drink always helped focus his mind in times like this. He knew that he would have to be at his absolute sharpest to solve this nefarious crime.
The Captain was murdered in her chambers around the same time that the engines failed - something indicating that at least two accomplices were onboard this very ship carrying out their plot - the simultaneous attack on multiple parts of the ship hinted that the attackers were well organized and determined - to what ends he did not yet understand. He slowly paced across the balcony one last time before downing the rest of his whiskey. There was evil afoot tonight.
The chill sea air blew across the ship decks like daggers across a winter night - with the ship stuck in the water there was an ominous gloom hanging over each guest - Pooky calmly lit his pipe and sucked in three puffs as he studied the curious hand gestures of Sherlock explaining something to a fellow guest - he seemed to notice a cut on his left hand that he had not noticed before previously when that person boarded. Pooky's smoke danced in the night air skyward - free to leave the ship that so many were now stuck on with imminent death lurking around the corner.
He remembered her striking hair, a deep verdant green that smelled like forest dew, her bubbly face and charming personality greeting the passengers... her eyes filled with terror in their last hours - face forever frozen in a scream that was snuffed out - too young too soon. The deep crimson pool of blood dripping out from her door had been the first clue something had gone terribly awry. He knew he had to find her killers - before they all suffered a similar fate.
As he took a second puff of his pipe he accepted his somber duty - he knew that there were people here who were not what they claimed to be.

As Pooky walked across the decks of the ship deep in thought he heard the sharp click of heels behind him - the rhythmic pace of the heels landing at precisely the correct time - each step purposeful yet seductive. He took a quick glance over his shoulder and saw a stunningly beautiful guest walk to the railing behind him - her deep auburn hair matched the fiery crimson of her dress - the silky garment hung from her shoulders to the small of her back leaving most of it exposed to the chilly air but she didn't seem to mind - the gossamer material offered little protection from the elements.
She pulled out a stylish lighter and clicked it, once, twice, three times but the wind prevented her from lighting her cigarette. Seeing the opening to help the mysterious lady - Pooky walked over and provided her with some flames by snapping his fingers at a fast speed - a trick he had learned from his travels in the Ottoman Empire.
"Alice my dear, it's hard to focus on the crime when you walk around looking so stunningly beautiful - but could you please help me throw the fake Detective overboard? I think I have an idea who is behind this mystery"

Deep in conversation with the enchanting woman on the railing, Pooky was suddenly distracted by a loud braying sound and a tremendous crash coming from the other side of the ship.
The music stopped and a wild donkey ran around with a violin stuck to his hoof, stomping around wildly trying to break up the party.
"Yes my dear, you do make a good point about the donkey spoiling the mood - but you can't expect an animal to contribute much to solving this crime?

In post 107, pighawk wrote:There are essentially four different actions about the same thing:
Player A proposes FOD gameplan that would essentially be a coinflip
Player B says "let's do it!" but doesn't do it
Player C opposes the plan and present a reason why the plan would be sub-optimal
Player D acts on the plan
Now obviously not all of those players are scum, and it's unlikely they are all town (although possible)
So which of these three actions is the scummiest in a vaccuum?
A-B-C-D are probably all town
Pighawk is probably scum trying to set up a false dilemma
I think we have a pretty good shot of winning if we lynch pighawk here.

my breakdown:
A) I know I'm town - I proposed a random stupid plan, it is a simple reaction test - there are reasons why this plan obviously doesn't work.
B) Player is excited for plan - doesn't seem like a scum reaction to the plan - I expect scum to be more reserved in a mountainous game - reaction doesn't seem faked.
C) Player has worked out probabilities for why plan doesn't work - however it misses the more obvious solution - which is that if a scum uses the finger of death and gets treestumped subsequently - the scum probability of victory rises to 66.6% assuming the town follows the plan - since there will be 3 players remaining and only a 1/3 chance of hitting the remaining scum.
D) Player doesn't take plan seriously at all - very carefree follow through - hard to see a scum doing this.
Pighawk's question is designed to stir discussion inside a subset - reducing the game down and create conflict - one reason could be that the entire subset is town - I find this very possible - hence pighawk is just trying to win Day 1 through reduction.

I didn’t say WHO IS THE SCUM? Any response, including “they are all town’ is perfectly within the ask. Now you ARE right I am “trying to win day 1” that’s 100% true, but only TOWN can win day 1.
You said rank the posts from scummiest to towniest - this is designed to promote conflict as you are comparing between 4 players saying this one is more towny than that one etc. Going back now and saying "they are all town" is a fine response seems kind of silly when your framing of the question to begin with was designed to promote conflict.
a more natural question would've been what do you guys think of these 4 posts?

yes there's nothing that would prevent it but your question was framed in an adversarial way - when you ask someone to rank 4 items from good to bad, there is a natural assumption the lowest ranked item is bad even if it is relatively good.
It's actually a pretty good psychological trick you pulled there - hence why I believe you are scum.

"I love you"
Three words that everyone wants to hear but they come like a thunderbolt on a clear day - electric shocks traveling to every finger leaving you feeling woozy and jolted - a rush that makes blood rush to your head faster than a slug of whiskey on a cold evening.
She was dressed up even more stunning than the previous evening - a low cut black evening dress that was elegant and entrancing - the black silk framing her body in a breathtaking manner - so much hidden yet so much seen.
“I love you”
These words cut through the previous conversation between them like a knife. Most days people walk through life as if in a dream, moving through the motions and time inevitably ticking on, one more day closer to the grave and stuck in the same loops - and then something happens that awakens the mind - a jolt like falling into a pool of ice water and waking up for the first time in years.
“I love you”
The words rang in his ears - she had leaned in close to whisper them in his ear - her long auburn hair brushing against the side of his face - tickling his face - her bosom pressed against his chest - and her breath felt like a small rush of warm air in the chilly night.
They had been drinking together for a few hours now, analyzing the fellow guests and exchanging stories of destinations in the past - he had fallen into an easy calm in her company - it felt so natural to talk with her about the others and thought he had only met her last night she felt like a lifelong friend he could confide in.
“I love you”
So many words had been exchanged between them by this point - they had finished the entire bottle of champagne they had ordered with dinner and the stars had been dancing across the sky above their heads for what seemed a lifetime - entire constellations exploding in light. But some words can freeze time and space, make a moment feel like an eternity.
He felt tongue-tied and swallowed down what he was in the middle of saying - words lost in the ethereal reaches of his mind - disrupted by her words spoken so suddenly and softly.
He looked back at her - lake green eyes framed by auburn hair - her deep red lips that had just jolted him into another life moving now so close to him that he could smell her lipstick. He started to respond but found himself speechless.

An audible gasp swept across the room as Yshtola rejoined the group - the mysterious Miqo’te Conjurer made quite an entrance, dressed in all black robes and dark boots and wielding a greatstaff made of Deadwood taller than herself, the beautiful feline looked more dressed for battle than for a dinner party. Her pale white eyes seemed to flit from passenger to passenger but Pooky knew she had lost use of them many years ago.
Her voice cut through the silence like music, casual yet confidently laying out a plan to find and defeat the Sin Eaters hiding among the guests - monsters that preyed upon the innocent for aether. Could this be true? Why would the Sin Eaters be attacking this ship and how would they hide so well if they were usually mindless monsters?
This trip was getting crazier and crazier - a madman had flown off the deck in his Apache Attack Helicopter just last night and had been circling the ship for a day, a green ogre and his donkey had been talking some crazy nonsense Pooky couldn’t quite understand, The Famous Detective Sherlock Holmes had not yet made any headway and now with the appearance of Yshtola and her announcement that the ship had been targeted by none other than the dreaded Sin Eaters - this entire journey had become quite wild.
Pooky knew that something with this many twists and turns couldn’t be solved sober so he grabbed the most expensive bottle of whiskey from behind the bar and retired to his room to get cracking on his solution.

Just as suddenly as she arrived, the Mysterious Sorceress vanished in a puff of smoke. Perhaps she was wrong about the presence of Sin Eaters on the boat and we were just dealing with a more common brand of criminal - relieved he was no longer up against supernatural forces - Pooky put on his thinking hat and began to put together his thoughts on the eventful week at Sea so far. Soon the tribunal would start and he knew he had to be in excellent mental shape to put together a convincing case on such scant evidence.

is your attack on me motivated by anything other than OMGUS?
I'm just curious because it's pretty obvious I'm town since it doesn't make sense for scum to put himself out here like this and attack esp in this setup- you can wifom it but imo I think it's pretty obvious I'm town here.

self-voting is a very gambitty move in this setup.
If you are town and self-vote - it is possible for scum off-wagon to come by and hammer you - giving themselves up to be stumped and their partner to go to the playoffs.
The only way you know scum won't come by and hammer you is if you're 100% sure both scum are on your wagon(which you can't really know) or you are scum yourself and you know that no scum is going to hammer you.

Well the town who hammers you if they are wrong will end up getting put in LYLO and if a townie is not confident of their ability to talk their way out of it - they will not be willing to lay down the hammer on you.
Hence why I offered to unvote and become the hammer for anyone who wants to vote you. I feel quite comfortable taking the shot that you are scum and I am also confident in my abiltiies to argue in the endgame lylo if it comes to that.
