Here is what went through my head:
"I have no idea what my action could be, if I get doctor cop or jailkeeper". So I wrote "investigate" to try out a cop, and got no result. Next I'd probably try "protect" or "jail" or other keywords until I found something that works for me.

With that, why did everyone else choose the word "investigate" on their night action?

Spoiler: The truth

Triton left the harshness of the dinner table. He had enough of the false accusations, the questioning of his integrity, the mere thought that he would make false claims of his night actions.

He stepped out into the cold winter air, peering out into the street. He took a deep, chilly breath, before he felt the buzzing of his phone in his pocket.

A text message popped up. "I need your help, meet me in the back".

Triton went to the back, where Natirasha was waiting. He was shaking terribly.

"What's wrong?" he asked him.

Triton looked down at Nati's hands. They were covered in blood.

"What? What did you....."

"I... I was just playing... I didn't think it would actually work.... I was just...."

Natirasha took out his pistol.

"I was just playing with the PMs! I was just curious! I didn't think it would actually work!"

Triton looked around quickly for any witnesses. "Why are you telling me this?"

Natirasha looked at Triton and said, "you're my partner".



Triton put his hands on his head. "No.... no Nati, no, no man. I don't want to be a killer".

"YOU DON'T HAVE A CHOICE" Natirasha yelled. "THIS GUN WAS MEANT FOR BOTH OF US!" He threw it at Triton's feet.

Triton was becoming flustered. "It's ok, we can fix this. We don't have to be killers."

"HOW?" Nati yelled at his partner in crime. "What are you going to do? Claim something? You already told everyone what you're not!"

"It's.... damn, I don't.... I don't know dude." Triton sat down at a loss for words.

Nati stood over his partner. "Now you're going to have to fake claim. And then what will you do?" Nati began pacing in frustration.

Triton looked at the gun laying on the floor. There's no way that they couldn't get figured out. Majiffy was already onto them. There's not much of a way out.

Unless....

Triton pocketed the gun. "Nati, let's go back inside, I think I can come up with something."

The group was gathered again around the table. Nati started immediately yelling at Majiffy, insisting a throwdown. Majiffy complied. A bar fight broke out.

Wisdom took Nati's side and helped gang up on Majiffy. Om came to Majiffy's aid, and began beating on Nati.

Jingle stood on the side with Triton, asking that the madness be stopped.

Triton went into the scrum to help break it up.

He whispered into Nati's ear "trust me". Nati looked at his partner and nodded.

Triton grabbed a hammer off the shelf, and whacked Nati.

"Dude, did you just lose the game for us?" people asked.

Nati, confused, looked at his former partner through his dying eyes. "How.... how will that help....?". Nati coughed up his last bit of blood on the floor.

Back in his sequestered room, Triton thought to himself. "The only way out of this is getting some kind of a terrible mislynch tomorrow. Might as well leave that to Wisdom's job."

Triton left a handwritten note for his night action, and left.

Interesting setup, I definitely was not prepared at all to learn I was a scum and I panicked because I had already played a certain way already.

Nati, sorry I hammered you, I really didn't know what to do at a 3-2 vote (hindsight 20/20 etc). My hope was that I get a kill off and then a ML happens.

What was really damning for me though was that the chart had us linked together (where it shows that if I'm scum, nati is my scum partner) so I figured someone would notice it. The damn thing made me paranoid.
