Don't pretend to break the rules because that's a waste of time and you should feel ashamed if you do it.

There will have different mechanisms, wait for instructions.
You may use nicknames as long I understand.
Votes/actions hate texts, they must stay in a separate line.
Anyone can post whatever they want in twilight, before I flip the lynchee.
If you are dead, then you can no longer post in the game thread nor the PTs except the dead thread.
You'll receive a prod if you don't post in the thread for 2 days (48 hours). Might make an exception if you have problems such weekends.
If you don't post anything after 24 hours, you'll be replaced.
The third prod will result in you being replaced.
You must announce (in the thread or in the PM) if you're on V/LA. V/LA alerts will be posted in the thread.

Everybody may choose one player to eliminate from the challenge (this can't be undone). Eliminated players can no longer influence the challenge, but they still can talk. You can use:
HURT: That guy you don't like
Hurt: That guy you don't like
If all players still in the challenge already eliminated someone, they may get another shot.
This challenge will last until there are only two players left. These players may then publicly pick 3 players (besides themselves) they want in their team. The player without a team will be lynched.

At the start of the day, both teams can only talk within their PTs.
They must rank every team member from 1 to 4, using:
1/2/3/4. Someone
Ranking one or multiple players is allowed. 3/4 of the votes are required to set the majority.
After both rankings are chosen, each player will become lover with someone at the same spot in the ranking. They'll also share the same vote, becoming a pseudo-hydra. Then the PTs will be closed and the game thread open.
P.S.: No alignment changes if you're wondering.
Rulesets:
- There's a deadline. If the deadline expires, the last proposed ranking will be chosen. If there's no proposals, it's going to be random.
- Don't quote/copy paste something from the PT to the game thread.

The bomb is ticking, it will start at 60 seconds.
Town must nominate someone to get the bomb first. You can't nominate yourself. The first to get the bomb will have to pass it for someone else secretly removing 1 to 5 seconds. The person who receives it must pass to other removing 1-5 seconds and etc. When it reaches or passes 0, the person who got it will be lynched.
To nominate someone:
VOTE: Bomb carrier
Nominate: Bomb carrier
To pass the bomb:
VOTE: Someone you want to get the bomb
Give: Someone you want to get the bomb
Everybody will receive a quicktopic where they can say how many seconds they want to remove. Town will be notified of who receives the bomb.

Day 5: Visit from the Dead
Dead town members will have to vote someone living to lynch. Living town won't know who the dead is voting to until a majority is reached. Living town may only post.
Dead mafia members may communicate with their partner in the mafia chat and at the same time see and post in the dead thread, but they can't vote.
To vote someone:

Even if scum managed to lynch a town member D3, town could still win D4 by forcing scum to nominate one of them and pass the bomb between the other townie.

I agree that what caused their loss is that they accidentally outted themselves (even though I expected some of them to out themselves). If one of them were lynched D1 or D2, they would have a better chance.
D3 mechanism sucked, fortunately it wouldn't be deciding anyway. I've left some comments on the Mod PT.

Some game ideas I got:
Day vigilantes (D1 mechanism)
If you like crazy viggings. It's the same mechanism I presented, except dayvigging will be a permanent kill (and no treestumpify). The game would end when there are two or three players left.
9p version: 7:2 (two players left)
13p version: 10:3 (three players left)
Pseudo-Hydras (D2 mechanism)
Same as D2 mechanism, I'd add D1 mechanism and keep the teams permanent. Hydras/lovers wouldn't be permanent.
7:4 would be the ideal version.
As I said, this works better when there's one uninformed majority. I'd allow scum to nightkill one of the townblocked players.
11:2 maybe?
Hot potato (D4 mechanism)
There would have a voting to decide who'll get the bomb first. They would also earn the ability to check how many seconds are left, two times per day.
Everybody would get a quicktopic. The bomb carrier would pass the bomb to someone and that person must pass it to someone else. You can't pass the bomb to someone who already received it before until everybody has received that.
11p version: 8:3
Dead choice (D5 mechanism)
Yeah, dead will decide the lynch. With the exception for Day 1.
Daystart version: Day 1 lynch will be the traditional lynch mechanism. By day 2, there will have two dead players who can communicate by themselves to decide the lynch.
Nightstart version: Day 1 lynch would be decided by who was killed first (meaning scum can't just kill the "most experienced" player).
For the two above, I'd make scum's win condition: Kill all town members.
Nightless version: A crazy 8:3 would be good.
