General Rules
  1. All site-wide rules apply. In particular,
    no discussion of ongoing games is allowed
    , and you may not discuss this game outside this thread or any PTs about this game you have access to.
  2. All standard rules of Mafia apply. This means
    1. Play to your win condition.
    2. Do not quote your Role PM or any other PMs from the Mod, real or fabricated.
    3. Do not edit or delete your post, even if you have the ability to do so.
    4. Do not use encrypted text, small text, bright-coloured text, or otherwise make it hard to see what you are writing.
    5. Do not use provable randomness. This means no dice tags.
  3. The mod color is
    blue (#0000FF)
    . Do not use it.
  4. Once your death scene is posted, you may not post, except for a single contentless ‘bah' post.
  5. Due to the nature of Mafia, conflicts are expected, but if I deem an argument too heated up I will intervene.
  6. No set of rules can be complete. If you think something is wrong, please don't do it. Breaking the spirit of rules is also disallowed. Do not encourage others to break the rules either.
  7. Breaching of rules will usually result in a warning initially, but depending on severity, may result in a force-replacement or modkill.
  8. During the course of the game I may add extra rules if necessary. These rule changes will be announced publicly.

Game-specific Rules
  1. Day start, Days will last 14 days, Nights will last 48 hours.
  2. There will not be a deadline extension except for special circumstances.
  3. Prods will be issued if you do not post for 48 hours.
  4. If you get three or more prods, or fail to respond to a prod by posting in thread within 24 hours, I will begin seeking for a replacement. This is unaffected by V/LAs.
  5. If a replacement happens at Night, deadline is paused until a replacement is found.
  6. To vote, either use vote tags (VOTE: BulletNLynchproof), or bold tags (
    Vote: BulletNLynchproof
    ). Abbreviations or misspellings will be accepted as long as it is clear who you are voting for.
  7. Unvote with UNVOTE: BulletNLynchproof or
    Unvote: BulletNLynchproof
    (the player name is optional in this case)
  8. Lynch is achieved by a strict majority, No Lynch is achieved by a simple majority.
  9. If deadline passes without a lynch, a No Lynch will happen.
    The following rules will also be in all future games I mod, apart from Normal games:

  10. By request, you may PM me to create for you a PT with you only. This is used to pen down your personal thoughts about the game progresses, or to organise your thoughts.
  11. You may not copy and paste directly from this PT into the main thread, except for posts made in the PT specifically for this purpose. This means that you may organise cases or reads in your PT to copy them into the main thread, but you may not quote parts of your PT into the main thread to confirm you have been thinking like a townie. If in doubt, please ask me.
  12. These PTs are on a per-player basis, not a per-slot basis. If a player gets replaced, the replacement will not have access to his predecessor’s PT, and instead will have to create his own PT. However, hydras will share one PT together.
  13. Before postgame, please PM or otherwise contact if you want your PT to be released or not.

Setup-specific Rules
  1. This setup will comprise of
    2 Mafia
    and
    7 Town

  2. There will be a 48-hour pregame, I will randomly choose two people to create scum roles, and the other seven to create town roles.
  3. Two people will receive the following PM:
    Create a Scum Role wrote:Welcome, Player, you have been chosen to make a
    Mafia
    role.

    Please submit a role with the following wincon:
    “You win when you control 50% of the votes and nothing can cause you to lose this control.”
  4. Seven people will receive the following PM:
    Create a Town Role wrote:Welcome, Player, you have been chosen to make a
    town
    role.

    Please submit a role with the following wincon:
    “You win when all the Mafia members are dead and at least one pro-town player is alive.”
  5. The role you create can be anywhere from something off the wiki to anything completely wild. But please follow these guidelines when making your role:
    1. Your role must not circumvent site rules
    2. Your role must not be able to cause an alignment change.
    3. Your role cannot have any wincons different from the standard wincon. That means you may not have secondary wincons or alternative wincons.
    4. Your role must be completely self aware. If you try to submit an Insane Cop, the Cop will know that he is Insane.
    5. You may not sign your role, that is, state on your role “BulletNLynchproof created this role”.
  6. Due to the nature of this game,
    balance is explicitly not guaranteed
    . However, if I deem a role too powerful, I may try to rebalance it while amending it as minimally as possible. Under extreme circumstances, I may simply reject the role and ask you to resubmit.
  7. If you fail to submit a role by the end of pregame, you will submit Vanilla Townie (if town) or Mafia Goon (if scum) by default.
  8. You will receive a sample role PM of your role.
  9. After this phase, two of the town roles will be randomly selected to be duplicated to form a pool of nine roles.
  10. Two of these will be added to the Mafia roles.
  11. Then the two new Mafia roles and seven remaining Town roles will be randomly redistributed to everyone.

Just to clarify, everyone should receive two PMs, one called "Role PM", and the other called "Your role". The role you are this game is the one titled "Role PM", and a sample role PM of the role you submitted is the one titled "Your role". You need to confirm to only "Role PM", not "Your role". Sorry for any confusion.

In the interest of full disclosure I'm going to come out and say that I was The one who requested the role on for the role we made. I did it because I submitted a role that I assumed was too OP/broken so I submitted a second and third alternative simultaneously each getting more normal. I was curious which of my roles got used.


It also gave me some good setup information. From the changes made to the role I submitted it appears any innocent-child-esque roles submitted will have the mod-confirmed-alignment features removed to facilitate game-wide meta of any role being eligible to be mafia without any difference between mafia and town versions of the role. Either that or my role was chosen for mirroring to mafia and therefore lost its alignment confirming abilities. Of anyone else made any role that confirms a town alignment, and the sample role pm they received still confirms a town alignment, please correct me?


An an unrelated note, I see no harm in everyone claiming the role they made to make the setup semi-open, no? Anyone disagree?

I love this format. And I agree with maruchan, I prefer and open setup if at all possible. The only problem I can see is if one of the people who made a mafia role is on the mafia team, in which case they'll be able to lie with impunity.

We are hated and ascetic.

I'm against claiming what we made for a few reasons. First, it tells scum what is likely in the game and gives them a pool of viable fake claims. Even if they have fake claims, this tells them what PRs cannot be in the setup (as no one made them). Third, mafia would have to take a risk on being outed as not matching a submission if they claimed something not their role.

Only the scum role-makers should claim what they made in my opinion so Town knows whatnto expect in terms of scum power but scum won't know what to expect in terms of Town's power.

I'm one of the people who created a scum role. I made a mafia JOAT with several 1-shot abilities:

Role cop
Strongman
Roleblocker
Ninja
Vanillaiser (can't be used N1)

From the returned version of the role I can also tell you scum have Daychat.

You didn't say duck you. I asked if everyone likes the idea, you answered with a solid opinion and we'll logic'd reasoning. I'm waiting for input from everyone on my inquiry, and after I receive it, I will 33rd evaluate my opinion on if I should advocate group-pressuring you into it (like if every other player was for it for example), or conceding to the logic of not forcing the issue of multiple people have we'll reasoned arguments against it. It's called being reasonable. I understand it may be a foreign concept for you to see me being reasonable and cool headed, but it does sometimes rarely happen. I hope our last experience together won't spur your perception of a reasonable!maruchan being possible. :)

I want to see where this goes before I say what role I made. I do agree that scum roles should be outed though. Good info with the daychat thing.

Except two town roles were made scum roles to balance this. We would have to massclaim role inputs to accurately gauge scrum power

I made a Town role. I won't claim the exact thing for the same reasons Alchemist gave.

But whatever, this place feels a bit too voteless.

There is a pool of 11 roles in this game. 7 town, 2 town coppied to scum, and 2 scum. Only two of the four mafia roles got used.

That's how I understood the mod to have done at least. He mentioned something about randomly duplicating 2 town roles to distribute to scum or something.

If all that line means is that he gave two scum a fakeclaim us I my two town roles this game is easily broken by massclaim. Either we have two or the same role claimed and we shoot one or lunch one, and we hit scum either n1 or n2. Or we have 2 roles that don't match claimed roles created if scum lie about their submitted roles, and we lynch all discrepancies
