Game Rules

All Forum Rules and Guidelines should be followed, along with the following rules.

Game Timeline

• Day phases will last two weeks.
  
• Night phases will last three days.

General Rules

• Do not quote your role PM or any other PM/QT communication from the mod.
  
• Do not contact any player in or outside of the game about the game.
  
• Do not use encrypted or hard-to-see text (including "invisible" text, text below the 50% text size option, or text hidden via BBCode (not including spoilered text)).
  
• Do not edit or delete posts in this thread. If you made a formatting mistake, I will fix it for you (if it doesn't change the content of the post).

Activity

• If a player doesn't post in-game after a period of 48 hours, other players may request a prod of that player.
  
• If a player doesn't post in-game after a period of 72 hours and another player hasn't made a request, I will prod that player.
  
• If a player is prodded, that player has 24 hours to make an in-game post before a replacement will be found.
  
• If a player receives multiple prods and/or prod-dodges excessively, that player will be subject to a force-replace.
  
• If you are going to be absent for a specific period of time, please let me know ahead of time!

Votes and Lynching

• Votes must be in the format of VOTE: Player Name or
  VOTE: Player Name
  . Abbreviations, missing punctuation, and misspellings will be accepted as long as it is obvious to me who is being voted for. If I perceive it as a vote, it will count as a vote.
  
• Unvotes are not necessary to change a vote.
  
• A player will be lynched if a majority of the players have voted for that player.
  
• You may vote for a
  No Lynch
  . If a majority of players vote for a No Lynch, the game will proceed to Night without a lynch.
  
• All living players, including the lynchee, may continue to post until I lock the thread.
  
• Once I have posted your death scene, you may not post ("bah" posts are not allowed).

Behavior

• Harassment of an individual player is NOT permitted. While this is a competitive game, no personal attacks will be tolerated.
  
• Always play to your win condition.
  
• Do not discuss this game anywhere else with anyone else unless your role allows you to.

Game Setup

This game is using the Semi-Open setup Cracking Idea Mafia.

• The list of roles will be randomized and two choices will be given to each player.
  
• After each player chooses a role, the mod will confirm that the game
  has at least 50% town roles
  and that
  there is at least one anti-town role
  . If either of these requirements are not met, the mod will re-randomize the role list and give each player two new choices.
  
• At the beginning of Day 1, all of the discarded roles will be revealed on the game thread.
  
• Balance is explicitly not guaranteed!

• Cops return 'Guilty' upon investigating Mafia, 'Not Guilty' otherwise.
  
• A player Vanillerized at night loses any abilities they have, effective immediately the next morning. The player is informed of this.
  
• When mentioned, the abilities of a role refer to all of their role details which are unrelated to their faction or win condition.
  
• Lynching an unlynchable role brings the game to night, but with no role reveal.
  
• Roleblocks only work on targeting actions - but roleblocking effects cannot be roleblocked. Roleblockers (followed by the redirector, then the psychomagnet) have top priority.
  
• No roles can self-target.

• Aliens have a one-shot teamkill.
  
• Goo have no teamkill, but beat anything in endgames.
  
• Factional kills must be performed by a specified member of the team.

Macho Death King maker combines three roles, Macho means I can't be protected by powers, Death means my power only works on death, and King maker let's me name one person to have sole lynch power the next day. In other words, I die and choose the king and nothing prevents my death. Of course I didn't choose that role....

Um no. People generally pick roles that give them more influence in the game. Conspiracy Theorist and Traitor Cop are both shitty assed roles, and they will be most likely substituted for any "stronger" town/mafia roles. That is unless you have a stronger preference to Scum roles - but by discarding a scum role, it shows less likelihood that you like mafia more than you like town.
Also (more importantly), the alignment of your discarded role has nothing to do with the role you are keeping.

However, if you are, per say, discarding the strongest pro town role, i.e. the one with the most influence, then it must be either you are hesitant about taking on that immense pwer(no fucking way on MS) or you would rather be scum. BTW, JOAT is probs not the STRONGEST, but one of the strongest ones, so don't misquote me here saying that Disturbed must be scum.

I was half asking because I've never played this variant of the game and half condemning it because I don't see the logic behind it. JOAT sure does sound nice but is it not possible that the other role was better or more appropiate for his play style?

There is nothing irreversible going on. Scum knows whether Disturbed is town or not.
1) If Disturbed is scum, speculating will be good as we can catch him being scum.
2) If Disturbed is town, the scum will know that Disturbed has a strong town PR, and he would get shot. By speculating, we can get suitable protection to disturbed and/or get to know at least what the scum knows (that he is town).

Just wanted to comment on this part before I leave: I'm pretty sure town would prefer a helpful role like JOAT to a role that's more "appropriate for his play style", considering that what you just said can easily imply a powerful scum role.

@DrDolittle It is going to cause alot of WIFOM to say that the scum are going to want to NK Disturbed because he obviously has a good town role (if he is in fact town). You pretty much just set him up for a second day lynch based on him living so...

Not necessarily true. there is a chance of three different anti-town factions being a possibility of being in this game, as well as two (I think) third party roles. Scum don't know if Disturbed is town, though they would know that he isn't a part of their faction. This analysis of the game looks townish though, I think I can add you to my list of personal town-reads and keep the other two from attacking you.
