There is now a dice mod:

[ dice ] xdy [ /dice ]

Will roll a Y sided die, X times.


Original Roll String: 2d6 (STATIC)
2 6-Sided Dice: (4, 3) = 7

I feel like it should be emphasized that these are not verified random anyway. You can do an xdy, preview the post, and if you don't like what you rolled, just preview again, and you get a different result. So this should be viewed as a tool for people who don't want to go to random.org or for mods trying to distribute roles, and not proof that your random vote really was random.

Okay, mathcam's preview trick doesn't work. It looks like it doesn't fix the result until you make the post, if you preview it re-rolls before you make the post.

So it should be safe as long as you can't edit the post afterwards.

This should be as close to true random as you can get. (at least, no one should be able to predict it and the probability should be correct.)

I'm not claiming that the random number generator is flawed: I'm claiming that I can change what number comes up. Okay, so my trick before didn't work. But certainly leaving the page, coming back, and previewing a different time would generate a different "fixed" result, right?
