Ooops, I did it backwards. I can confirm that I can edit my page, once I set the password. Nanook, try going here and entering the password you find on the Wiki's HomePage.

jeep, some formatting things have definitely changed though. <br> now shows up instead of getting parsed, and external (url) links no longer have the brackets around them (which isn't *bad*, just different).

External URL links was noted, I didn't think it mattered. Apparently, I didn't reallow the HTML codes. I'll figure it out.

And I can make a link to unset your password too, I guess, but I don't know that it matters. Also, you can just clear your cookies.

HTML all seems to be kosher now. However it's not saving my Wiki password cookie properly, somehow, when I login from work. This is minor, of course, since I shouldn't be on from work anyway...

Facts:
* I can edit at home just fine (Konqueror/Linux system).
* I'm probably still logged into the site at home.
* I can enter the password, and it says I'm an editor of the site now.
* When I go to edit a page, it tells me I am in the banned hosts file again/still.
* I even tried specifically allowing mafiascum.net to save all cookies, in case it was a configuration issue with Medium Security (IE 6, WInXP).

I wonder if that's why we've seen almost no Wiki edits lately...

::edit::
No problems from a different work computer (same OS/browser), so maybe there's just something wrong with that one...

Mayhaps we should have a wiki course here? I have no idea how to go about learning how to use it...
This is just here so my posts don't look so ugly when I edit them.

You mean like a FAQ on the Wiki itself, or something in this thread? There is already HowToUseTheWiki, linked off the main page of the Wiki, but if it's lacking something you need, it can certainly be added...

jeep, I may have overloaded the Wiki. I got in there making a bunch of changes tonight and suddenly ended up with this while trying to update HowToUseTheWiki and the SandBox from the same browser:
Could not get visitors lock: Check whether the web server can create the directory ../wiki/temp and whether it can create files in it.
Now it won't allow me to even get to the HomePage... I'll save my edits offline and try again tomorrow.

Okay, so after yesterday's embarassment...

We have a new tutorial page on the Wiki!
Well, it's in the same place (https://www.mafiascum.net/cgi-bin/wiki. ... UseTheWiki), but it actually is correct for the version of the Wiki we have up there right now, and expanded/easier to read and use. Let me know of any concerns/corrections/additions, or better yet, add them yourself (it's the WikiWay!).

Gah, I sound like a revivalist preacher... anyway, tutorial fixed. Only thing I couldn't figure out through trial and error is the new syntax for redirected WikiLinks (
i.e.
[[DragonPhoenix|die suck die]]).

jeep, can you set BracketWiki to 1 in the MafiaScum wiki rules? I believe (if you're using UseMod like I think) that will re-enable the [[WikiWord|ConvenientWikiWord]] behavior that is suddenly broken the last several months.

Also, something is wrong with all the HomePage links that start with http://www.mafiascum.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?action=links (the AllLinks, AllURLs, etc type). That's preventing me from being even more obnoxious with adding pages to the wiki, but I'm not sure what's wrong; they just give the unhelpful "
Invalid action parameter links
" when I try. You might try looking at http://www.oddmuse.org/cgi-bin/oddmuse/ ... nks_Action if that makes sense to you...

We are not using UseMod we're using oddmuse. I was playing around with usemod compatability, did I leave it on? We had to update the version and it overwrote the settings once, I may not have got everything put back the way they are supposed to be. I'll figure it out after the move.

Erm, according to OddMuse's help page, BracketWiki is turned off by default, and may have gotten reset when you were messing with the UseMod compat. Changing it to 1 in the config file should fix this.

OK, so I've updated the wiki s/w and I think that I have everything set correctly. Mr. Flay will certainly correct me if I'm wrong, but if anyone notices anything, please let me know.
