So I was digging to find the source of some zombie sounds, and I broke through. What do I see through my one square hole? lava and water. The lava is a downward flow just one to the right of where I dug.... *sweatdrop*
edit: Oddly enough, there is already cobblestone around the lava flow... almost as if I'd already been there, but I know for a fact I haven't been this far underground and found lava before. Will keep you all posted on my progress. Turns out this was due to contact with the water I'd been hearing (I didn't see their contact until I dug my way to the roof of the cavern and looked through some spot holes).
I've dug more into it and it's a water filled cavern with a lava source block. Also found some redstone, iron, and gold in the area, which is always a nice bonus. 5 iron, 10 gold, and ~51 redstone in that one cavern + a bucket o' hot sauce.Last edited by RayFrost on Mon Feb 14, 2011 5:17 pm, edited 5 times in total.don't you feel silly now?-

I am aware. I'd rather simply take half a heart of damage from a creeper with the bonus of lag almost certainly ensuring that the creeper damages nothing in the environment and punch a spider to death with my bare hands.UltimaAvalon wrote:string is used to make bows, bows are used to kill creepers and spidersdon't you feel silly now?-

So I've kept track of the places of interest that I've found:
64 z, -452 x, natural cave with an interesting opening shape that has red flowers in the vicinity.
-20 z, -639 x, water flow that comes from an internal spring, have not journeyed into the hill to find the source cave
13 z, 642 x, natural low lying cave system with water
-16 z, -842 x, natural low lying cave system with water
There is also quite a bit of surface coal / mountain range in that area. Seems like a nice place to set up home, save the fact it's far from the spawn, which will soon be a non-issue.don't you feel silly now?-

I'm planning on logging in at some point and deciding whether i want to make myself a permanent settlement that I'll eventually forget exists or just keep wandering without anything on meormake chests as I travel to hold valuables that people can find and take from (would make dying so much less painful) as they wish. Leaning towards the third option when I log in again but not in the mood right now.don't you feel silly now?-

What purpose would the donator usergroup serve? Making people feel warm and fuzzy and giving them powers that may influence the server state? Other than that, no real concerns.
Also: am I the only one that finds it far more interesting to watchother peopleplay the game than it is to actually play? I find that I can watch a full three hours of pbat / x / seananners / etc doing let's plays of minecraft, but I can barely sit down long enough to farm my trees for actual playing.don't you feel silly now?-

Decided to boot minecraft back up. Will report my findings when I have some interesting ones to report. Until then, *lurking*
So far, a couple things of note:
-436 x, 544 z, semi-large(?) clay deposit min. of 16 blocks.
-136 x, 609 z, empty little hole in the ground filled with torches and a water flow at the entrance. No other signs of previous occupants. Possibly eaten by the aggressive wildlife.
Also: I have a creeper that keeps looking like it's about to explode and that I can hit, which decreases the durability of my sword, but doesn't get hurt and doesn't die. I'm not really sure if I should risk it exploding in my face or not by going past it (it's kinda blocking the way out).
Now, I have blocked the creeper in and it can't move at all. I can leave freely into daylight. Clever me. I left a pair of chests filled with all the stuff I've found up to this point (and managed to stay alive to keep) inside the aforementioned hole in the ground. There's two passages, if you take the tiny one to the left of the hard water flow, you can get to them rather easily. Feel free to take this stuff along with the workbench if you really want any of it: inc sacs, iron, wood, an arrow, flowers, wool, dirt, etc.
-87 x, 819 z, lava pool on the surface that appears man-made (but the unbroken stone surrounding it says otherwise) with a floating island with torches nearby along with random lines of dirt. Main island appears well explored but quickly abandoned by previous occupants.
76 x, 1043 z, above-water clay. At least moderately sized deposit. No time to count, as per creeper presence in the area.
Now endeavoring to return back to MME's pad (or at least somewhere safe). I have created four mushroom stews for the purpose of keeping myself alive thanks to the sudden increase in brown mushroom populations overland. Managed to find a steve co. chest that said I needed to go to the minecraft store to open it via the purchase of a key. Naturally, tried to break it instead and failed before moving on. Accidentally quit minecraft after making a little hidey-hole from the night, and I think I'll stop here for now.don't you feel silly now?-

Pro-tip: with these holes, get some sand/dirt and place it two blocks high around your dig point, then dig two blocks in (makes sure that it is not possible for the non-wide mobs to jump up by putting it two blocks higher than the surrounding area, and spiders aren't really a problem when you're in a 1 block wide hole). You can then watch for sunrise.don't you feel silly now?-

I can't get to the server, but right now it's displaying "stream end" errors and the like and restarting minecraft doesn't seem to do anything.
Also: I just did a seed named after myself, and I spawned on a rather drab island... then I found a short cave. A cave that drops down into a pit with water. A pit with lava and resources up the ass. A pit that, a short distance away, has a gigantic slice in the cave system filled with lava (in the walls of this ravine? lapis, redstone, gold, and possibly diamond that I didn't see). I decided that I'd farm all the small time resources (wood / cobble / saplings / food) I needed topside and then dive down there, make a home out of the gigantic cave system. I also punched an enderman to death.don't you feel silly now?-

So managed to finally log in.
Found six diamond (and accidentally threw three into lava) with chamber (he took the other three), ended up at the bottom of chronopie's laddershaft in his house with a zombie that followed me nearly killing me before I ran away for my life and left the server. Chrono, not sure if that "zombies spawn and then chill at the base of the ladder" thing is intentional.don't you feel silly now?-

Yes and yes.
At least it was named "LONG ASS TUNNEL TO THE TUNDRA" and was incomplete.
Edit: well shit. I tried to walk into DH's house but accidentally hit his painting instead of the button. Sorry. Also: the painting item thing won't let me pick it up so yeah. REALLY REALLY SORRY.don't you feel silly now?
