Otolia I could make some big schpeal about how pathetic a character Tali is and how in every way outside of culturilization with the galaxy at large she really serves no purpose to shepard and his/her team and is better off dealing with the hardships of being a young adult quarian and that had shepard never met her she'd more than likely never have gotten involved in any of the shit she was involved with in ME1 and that she'd be dead in ME2 anyways because the rest of the team she was with on the planet where you recruited her was dead except for k'al reegar who was already wounded and waiting to die (and in fact can die in that final battle if you take too long to finish it) and the geth were pounding away in the room where she bunkered up in who'd eventually break in and kill her anyways, let's not even bring into light the motivations she had or functions she provided in ME1 which really was nothing more than being an encyclopedia to her kind and learning about the normandy and how it functioned, or that her combat ability is utter shit and her health is so pathetic and if we apply "realistic" logic to her character she'd be dead anyways from a single fucking blaster shot to the arm--

tl;dr?
Tali is useless.

If anything, sex sells. Many people bought ME1 because of the "sex" scene, and the outrage it caused, despite being nothing more than side-boob.

"There's no such thing as bab publicity" -Gene Simmons.
The part I disagree with you RC: there are satisfying relationships in the game.
-Jack's is moderately satisfying, if you remember she always calls you shepard, and during the last mission
if you use her as your biotic shield she calls you commander, recognizing your rank and showing you due respect
as well as showing she's grown to respect you both as a leader and lover if you romance her, and her romance scene is just
her breaking down and seeking comfort in your arms, her not being sure of herself anymore and being entirely too vulnerable, which leads to NO SEX, JUST COMFORTING THE GIRL YOU WUV
.
-Garrus' is much of the same. Knew one another for a long time, fought alongside each other, separated to do your own things, one got dead, the other went rogue better than Sarah Palin. Garrus
lost his squad and was saved by shep, realized he lacked the right type of leadership ability to run a team of his own and found more respect for shep then for facing even harder troubles than smugglers and drug dealers in a backwards space port,
and in the end the two reunite and just express mutual admiration for one another.
-Liara's too was decent I felt. You helped her break out of her shell, she then blasted through the rest of the way
to recover your corpse, and chose to give you up to one group as they were the lesser of two evils, then went on a revenge scheme to save her captured friend. You, if you romanced her before, can remind her of the person she was and bring her back to reality, her hunt for revenge greatly blinding her to the world around her and saving her from a complete moral 180.
Not the best, no, but good.
Thane's? LOLWUT?
Jacob's? LOLJACOB.
Miri? LOLSLUT.
Poor character though.. for being genetically perfect, she's infertile. =[

Kaiden/Ash? LOLGOTTAWAITTILME3.

How the piss was miranda's good? Some light flirting here and there, a kiss stolen from her, then suddenly "hey shep let's dry-hump each other in the engine room floor before we go off on our deadly last mission. good luck not getting and friction burn."

Okay, objectively, yes, she has a character. I did enjoy it. Her character was excellent in combat for her support ability to either increase the health or power of the squadmates you take with you on missions. She was on my teams a lot for that reason.
But as a character for non-missions, and for the story, she really only was needed as a liason in the beginning for Shep and TIM, and bringing you back to life. After that it all became about her serving as a "lets see the other side of the coin that is Cerberus." in the end she herself leaves with Shep, so it's safe to say she grew to trust in some dude she knew for a short while versus the people that saved her orphan ass.

No, he's a better Tali than Tali is.
Not only that, did you read those dossiers? She's a horny prat who was more concerned about herself, whereas Legion buys a fundraiser game with the highest level of donation option available and doesn't even play it.

I LOVE LEGION.

FUCK LIARA.

BTW, Legion in ME2 is for culturalization as Tali was in ME1. You get to see the other side of the argument, much like how in ME2 you see the sorta-kinda non-terroristic side to Cerberus.

Actually originally you were supposed to be able to recruit every single person in any order you wanted. It was a later choice to make it so Thane, Tali, and Samara could only be recruited after Horizon.

I am playing a vanguard on the hardest playthrough. For whatever reason I am on the samara recruitment mission.
My team is Tali and Jack. I am at the part where the airship arrives and you must eliminate it.

Unless you, like me, know how to edit the console (thanks entirely to the bioware website ME forums) and make 1) all members recruitable at any time, 2) make it so recruiting Legion doesnt trigger the final mission, and 3) give your infiltrator shepard who picked shotgun training the widow and super sexy hair.

But, I don't advocate anyone doing this at all.

I'm playing as a MANGUARD, so no sniping whatsoever.
The irony is that my team is currently Miranda and Tali at that point. Miri for her boosting my damage, and Tali for her Drone.
Stasis doesn't affect Harbinger-drones, and killing scions using Stasis to freeze them in air as their platforms fly out from under them is fun.

I've never had difficulties on this part on anything other than my first ever run through of the game, and now on Insanity.

Cleared it.

17 tries over the span of two hours (I like to do other things between fits of not-throwing-the-controller-at-the-TV).
I had to zerg rush the first wave, and stasis the first scion as the plat moved, CHARGE! to the harbinger-drone whenever my shields were down, then when the second scion appeared I CHARGED! into that, then gave it a buckshot massage and facial, while my team dealt with the other collectors, then CHARGED! in to clean up what was left.

I'm talking about when you get the secondary weapon or the advanced weapon.
Either or, that mission is tough. I'm still on it, haven't played since last night.

Horizon was a fucking cakewalk actually. Like a smart person I started a new game + on insanity, so I was already level 30. The flying thing? Easy. Take to cover, have friends attack, fire when he recharges his weapon, and have the right teammates. Jack with heavy warp ammo + Zaeed with fire grenade, me with squad cryo = win.

Loladept. Sorry dude you're fucked fifteen ways sideways.

Yes, Navy.

You know, with the sailors. On boats.

So yeah. If it starts while I'm in basic just like throw me in on replacement or something, iuno. Entirely depends on on how long basic lasts for me.

Well, yeah. That is how ratings work. Officers are above Enlisted.
Though, I'd love to see an Ensign (O-1) try to talk down to an E-8.

For the better.
Would you want them to skimp out on squadmate interaction dialogue on missions? Would you want there to be bugs out the ass? Would you want it to be terribad? I am glad it's delayed.

I wonder...
If you chose to give Cerberus the Collector base, what will be the justification of TIM turning on you? I can only assume something akin to indoctrination...

Yeah, I was just wondering that yesterday.

If I'd made the other choice... then W(hy)TF would he do that?

There'd be no reason!

Well, that's the best justification I can come up with. That, or:
1) He sees that with the base he can create as many shepards as he wants, and can control them, so he tries to eradicate shepard for him/her being a liability
2) He decides that killing shepard can be used as a ploy to spark chaos amongst the many species in the galaxy, and while the reapers are attacking, uses the base as a weapon against the reapers, thereby making the galaxy see Cerberus as heroes, not as terrorists.

All about playing the angles.

SORRY, BUT I NEED MY DAILY INFLUENCE OF TALI PORN, AND SHIT.

IT'S GETTING WORSE AND WORSE. MORE ON SCREEN TALI MEANS BETTER ME.

I, as a fellow man, cannot stand for another to be without porn. I will do my manly duty and find you as much of it as possible. In time, you will come to respect me for it, and we shall develop a platonic bond that shall crush all our enemies by means of you freaking them out with all the porn I give to you.

So, I just took out
Tela Vasir
on insanity.
Easiest. Fight. Ever.
Charged to her to get her to stop attacking my teammates, and she never got a chance to hurt me herself. Cut to where I get her to red health, Liara hits her with a singularity, and I charge! in for the kill... she went flying over the railing, flew twenty feet away and into the air, then fell for a good minute and a half to the ground.
My teammates just stared down at the ground looking for her.

That one always got me on my infiltrator. I look at it this way: she fell, survived the fall through miracles/deus ex machina, went back into the building, climbed all those stairs, just to reach the top only to die.

I've fought an asari vanguard that loved to bring her biotic barrier up after so long of me not being able to shoot her.

Though, yeah, Stasis does negate that, amongst other things.
Have I said how much I enjoyed Stasis? It's really the best.

I find this hilarious.
I did samara's loyalty mission, and chose morinth. Par for the course for my renegade manguard. But, she only enough ability points to get two skills up to level three. The rest of my squad can use all 30 points, but she's lacking. Even after going to the terminal to adjust her points, they still weren't at 30. Mysterious.

No clue. I never used Samara. Though it was a newgame+ so she should've had points anyways.
Doesn't really matter though. Gave her three dominate and her passive ability.

So.
About to do Tali's loyalty mission.
Bringing along Legion for the lulz.
Now then, why do I even mention this?

Do I make Tali loyal, or no?

Thane, Jacob, and Jack are already slated to die because, seriously, fuck Jacob and Thane, and Jack's just a casualty from my not doing her mission. Also it seems that Zaeed isn't loyal either, and I did his loyalty mission already, so I must've pissed him off.. so we'll see if he dies or not.... =S

I knew you'd post something like that Hiraki. <3

But seriously, I'm already facing 3 to 4 deaths. The first time I played through on this char was normal difficulty and I only lost Tali and Jacob. Tali's still useless IMO now that I've got Legion, but, 4 to 5 deaths? Even for my Ruthless origin Shepard that's harsh.

fuckin' know
we had this talk before in this thread.
All those stories? He's the ONLY ONE THAT SURVIVES. Plus, he's a merc. HE'S ONLY IN IT FOR THE MONEY, ONLY LOOKS OUT FOR HIMSELF, THAT DOES NOT A LEADER MAKE.

So yeah.. Tali loyal or no?

So Zaeed, the merc survivor, is supposed to lead a team of soldiers, who fight under shepard, and are being led by a self-serving money-lover, and they are all supposed to die, and zaeed lives on?
silly rabbit, trix are for whores.
It's his character. He is not meant to lead a team, but instead be part of a team. He never led his fellow soldiers, he just happened to fight alongside them and survived when they all died. He's not a leader. Hell even a ruthless-origin shepard can lead people, and he (ruthless shep) sent soldiers to their deaths. That's the key thing: Zaeed cannot lead; he's a pitbull, and when he's let off his leash... well, you saw what he did to that krogan.. or what's left of it anyways. =P

I will have to restart then. =/
What I want is for the quarians to find peace with the geth. A unified front against the reapers, with geth storming the front lines and quarians taking up the rear? DO WANT.

It's from a comic of a feral child that was 'rescued' by a doctor/professor and was educated in the ways of society.
Unfortunately the doctor raised and taught that child how to be a female, and the child is male.

...
WHAT.
No, seriously, wtf?
I mean, like, really, honestly, what pot were those people who decided to greenlight that smoking, and where can I get some?
(Okay granted the movie might actually be something easy to pull off, but the SFX that'd be needed, it makes me uneasy and skeptical of the premise of a mass effect movie. sure it's not something too difficult to pull off, but to do it
well
is another thing entirely.

Yes, but, Jack was a terrible Vanguard, whereas Kaidan was a Sentinal. Sooo... only a slight comparison.

What I should say was he had angsty issues in ME1 and for that I always killed him... however I think on this soldier (re)playthrough on ME1 I just
might
save his ass. Yeah his training sucked, and wasn't as bad as Jack's was, but comparatively who dealt with it better? Okay yeah Kaiden did because he didn't let his past dictate who he was and go on a rampage of destruction to rebel against those that ruined his childhood, but he didn't have tits now did he?

According to an article on a site whose validity i doubt over 70% of ME2 players didn't remain loyal to their ME1 romances.
I did on both my characters.

So, just started the suicide mission. Think I found an easter egg or something similar. If you watch closely in the corner
when the eyebot sentinal things first notice you, at the bottom left of the screen, a ship that to me looks like the Pillar of Autumn from Halo can be seen
.

IDGAF about Vorcha, those vermin can get exterminated for all I care.
WE GOT TO SEE THE FLIP SIDE TO CERBERUS, WE GOT CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT FOR THE QUARIANS AND KROGANS, AND KNOW A GREAT DEAL ABOUT TURIANS AND ASARI; WHERE'S THE BATARIAN SYSTEM EH?! So what they have a slavery-system as part of their culture, who doesn't? Who cares that a group of extremists tried to kill an entire colony using another colony? they were extremists, and shouldn't reflect the culture as a whole!

Oh I see what you did there. You don't have a batarian or a vorcha on your squad.

Plus they're portrayed pretty villainously to begin with.

The vorcha are a neutral evil type species, though. Batarians are misunderstood by the galaxy at large, I'll agree.

*obnoxious laughter*
MIRANDA DIED. MIRANDA DIED AT THE END.

So, with unloyal Zaeed, Jack, Thane, Miri, and Jacob, only Jack and Miri died, the former defending the line, and miri from the falling platforms at the end (she was on my team to kill the baby reaper. Glad Zaeed made it through. From a story-perspective, I think I did awesome. I blew up the base, took the ship
and
cost him his best operative! What's best is she told him she resigned anyways, so nyeeeeeeeh T.I.M.!

Yes, he did.
Jealous?
xD

In all seriousness though I'm shocked. I remember reading once on the bioware forums that Miri can't die, even if she's unloyal, at the last mission so long as others survive. This was the first time I've ever tried disproving that.

Umbrage wrote:The thing is, I'm pretty sure the reasons I like Ashley and Jack are the same reasons other players don't.

They're too strong.
That's the reason I loved Ash's character. You pretty much hit the nail on the head there.

It makes me sad to say it, but I think a lot of guys are drawn to Liara and Tali because they're very dependent on Shepard. Liara's change in ME2 upset a lot of people. They didn't like the notion that she could handle things on her own and become one tough Asari. They preferred the damsel in distress trapped on Therum.
Beta weak-ass fucktard social rejects that need women to be beneath them as subserviant fuck-toys.

I hate how contrived they made Tali's character. One the one hand she's this tough squad leader and hero, on the other she's this shy virgin with a crush on you. I just don't buy it. She's too dependent on you.
Well this is the time I have to defend Tali. Hiraki shut up.
You first encounter Tali as she's about to be double crossed and killed in some dirty back alley. She's on her Pilgrimage, and doesn't know anything about the outside world. In rides Shepard to save her from herself and her naivety. Shep gives Tali a purpose and perspective larger than the quarian fleet ever did, as well as one she'd never be able to get on her own. In 2 they carried it over, in that she stopped being so naive, and has a bit of maturity to her character, but yes her romance was forced. It was a school-girl crush that went too damn far.
Her character is not bad. I do not like it myself, and fanboys of her are fucking retards. BioWare is daft for giving idiots the chance to romance her.

One thing that really impressed me was after the Shadow Broker mission, when you could talk with Liara. That's the first time you really get to see Shepard vulnerable and needy. When you're not the big hero. It feels like a true relationship rather than Shepard having fun with his groupies.
It's also the first time you get characterization for Shep. For the majority of the game you're just there, gathering teammates like they're pokemon or some shit. The only times you get to personally get involved in shep's character are when you're telling off T.I.M., and reminiscing with Chakwas and Joker.
Fish out of water.

P-EDIT:
Hee-hee at Zaeed living for Mute. Although sadface at Jack dying. That's a beautiful ending for Miranda, actually, she manages to redeem herself just before she dies... I think the "Miri can't die' thing is how she survives if chosen for either squad leader AND the biotic challenge.

Like I said, I think I did well, especially from a story/plot POV. Here, I play the renegade character that's 1)
Killed the Rachni queen
, 2)
destroyed the genophage cure from mordin's mission
, 3)
blew up the heretic station
, 4)
told the council (human one; let the old one die) to go fuck themselves
, #-etc.)Been the biggest dick in the galaxy, made more enemies than allies, and pissed off enough people to warrant a universal hatred. Always been against T.I.M., told him off at every opportunity, then at the very end, blew up his could-have-been toy, stole his most loyal agent's loyalty, and then got her killed. Yeah she redeemed herself but imagine the blow struck to T.I.M.'s ego? I've shaken the entirety of his pride. Him
sending out platoons of soldiers to kill me in revenge is more than justified, but probably in light of my actions, heroic.
It's the perfect stage setter for ME3 and I love it.

Comments in bold.

You need at least two squadmates alive at the end so shep doesnt bite the dust. one is not enough. you can have two, and if one of those 2 is zaeed and he's unloyal and survives, then you can kill him on the loyalty mission.

Combat was also a lot of HIDE BEHIND THIS WALL, SHOOT ENEMIES, RINSE REPEAT.
Even on insanity there were moments when that's all I had to do over and over and over and over to clear the level. The hardest parts were the ones involving the geth and Harbinger-ized drones, because they were all "fuck you I'm coming for you Shepard," and those scions that shot uber-shockwaves that forced you out of cover.

Hopefully in ME3 there'll be a decent mix of HIDE HERE AND SHOOT and olde-tyme shootout situations where there is no cover and you've gotta rely on powers/squadmates.

Umbrage wrote:Cover is good. The way it was in ME1 was good. But combined with the recharging shields and health? No way. You can just sit there and spit at enemies at leisure until they fall solely because they don't have the same regen.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Only times I've seen an enemy recharge were some minor geth and asari vanguards.
It's one of the reasons I despised the cover system; even on insanity the game was made trivial by all the cover and regen BS. The other reason was so many times the cover was forced, like, "oh hey thanks deus ex machina on delivering a wall right where I need it that otherwise would not make logical sense to be here."

The charging enemies were awesome, and thank [the] god
that BioWare said they'd include more of them. I'm hoping that holds true...
and I hope the one I heard about piloting a 50-foot-tall mech to take on a reaper was a lie

Nothing like that iirc.. unless... well, it's a personal choice but
on tali's recruitment mission if you start it out (like, from the instant you select the planet) on insanity or hardcore difficulty, in the room where you finally speak to tali, you can get the geth pulse rifle. can't get it otherwise.

and yeah, others had your same gripe with what's in the spoilers. Sucks, but the gameplay took the foreground this game.

Illium was a joke and Omega was too small for what you got to explore outside of missions.
I get they wanted to streamline shit and compress all the walking, but FFS I (and others) wanted to explore the Presidium and see how it was rebuilt after the effects of ME1

You'd think it'd be impossible to get lost in Omega. Citadel in ME1 I can understand, there's a lot of walkways and areas to explore.
Omega's literally 5 corridors connecting large rooms.

The only time you need to worry about doing missions is after
you obtain the reaper IFF. After you do that you've got ~2-3 missions you can do before the ship's attacked by collectors. From there, after that point I mean, if you do any missions, your cerberus crewmates will die. If you go straight there and start the last mission after your crew's abducted, everyone lives.
Before that point, have a gay ol' time doing side missions.

This fool fails to play a vanguard? Lol. Not taking his opinion any bit serious at all.

"Then there are the grenades. Mass Effect 3 sees a series debut for actual, round, conventional grenades."
WTF. Man, the floating death disks from ME1 were awesome already for flanking and attacking enemies behind cover.

Still interesting read. Danku.

I feel the gameplay in ME1 is just fast enough... albeit if all you do is the main missions and like one or two side missions.. and don't hunt down the entire galaxy for every scrap of alien writing and space gas you can collect.

So
Dat E3 trailer.
Not sure about that voice thing, but if it's for the kinect only not a problem as I don't have it, and won't really matter. But damn, if it works like it did in that demo it'd be impressive.
Did Mordin sound any bit different to anyone else?

I don't mean you'll lose the game, I mean that I will track you down and kill you if you don't keep Legion. An acceptable option is keeping him and not activating him, as he will survive.

Also I agree that the Arrival mission should be played post-game, and shadow broker should be played between
getting the IFF and doing the suicide mission, with talking to liara optional either before or after the suicide mission. The rest of my self-canon is Overlord takes place after Horizon but before the collector vessal, and the weapon DLC is open from after you recruit Zaeed.

Which is why you should not do Firewalker at all. Or if so just the first mission, as otherwise it's useless.

I never understood the mako hate either. At least it can take more than three shots before erupting into flames, and you can get out of it to take on the colossus on foot.

We will now all create our ideal race/class combinations.

For me, it's Elcor Vanguard.

Tongue in cheek: You have not experienced Biotic Charge until you have experienced it as Elcor.

Hanar Soldier

Krogan Engineer

Zaeed said he'd retire after receiving the money for the SM. In the LotSB you read some of his letters where's hes searching for a house to live. Don't think he'll be tempted by money to kill shephard after what they've been through.

Well, of course not, duh.
I didn't read Tali's at all. I saw on the wiki that it was about how she was buying and buying "suit massaging devices" and realized just how much I fucking hate her.
Then during my last replay of ME1 I actually took the time to talk to her. Reinforced the hatred.

So, I get back from deployment, and ME3 had some DLC released. And even a new game was released.. albeit just the trilogy in a single collection.

And I don't have my 360 anymore to try them.

Eh. Since I went and got a new PS3 to replace the 360, I went and picked up the trilogy collection. *shrug*

All I know about the two new DLC's so far is
oh shit female turian at last, and oh shit new alien race that predates the reapers!!?!

Then there's this nonsense about how Shepard! is indoctrinated by the end? Nice read. I can see the points to it. Trying not to think too hard about it until I play through everything (again).

Most fans liked the EC, myself included. Adds some more context and a nice epilogue. It FEELS like an ending now, instead of just random crap thrown on the screen.

If you dislike the buttpains, stay the FUCK away from BSN. That's where all the fans who didn't like the EC nest, and prey on anyone brave or foolish enough to say anything positive about the game. MP forums are pretty cool though.

If you play MP, be sure to get the DLC. Collectors are fun.

MP is fun as fuck. That much I remember.
I had gotten those Phoenix operatives on the 360, was the last DLC I remember. I thoroughly enjoyed whipping the Husks.

Meh, I never could do snipers on multiplayer / online games. In the game proper (but not including 1 because fuck 1's sniping mechanic) I loved the piss out of Infiltrators. Though on MP i never did manage to get a geth infiltrator, much to my dismay.
Eh. I enjoyed my running and gunning with the phoenix agents.

So.
For the first time since I deployed, I got to play multiplayer. But since it was on the PS3 and I had jackall of fucknothing to use, and a hole in my pocket where my wallet fell through, I bought some stuff.
Ultimately, I got a widow. Some classes too, but the widow... <3

Gotta say, those new maps were confusing. But hory sheet Salarian infiltrator was sweet.

Do you even get a sexy scene with the Kelly romance, though? I dunno if it counts if you don't get a montage of Shepard having gay sex with whomever with her pants on.

With kelly, all you get is dinnerl,
a strip tease if she survives the collector base attack
, and scale itch. :shifty:

I think restarting, knowing how the plot goes, and insofar as headcanon should go, an earthborn soul survivor paradude shep is the best canonically to play as for a male. Granted the voice acting sucks dick van dike in ME2, given the plot, that combo just seems to work for me.

Also: Sentinal Krogans in multiplayer. What?
Are they even good/useful? The idea baffles me.

Well, sole survivor nets you both paragon and renegade points anyways, but look at the context of the backgrounds. You're an earthling through and through. You enlist to get away from that negative lifestyle, hardened by life in the streets and living amongst the criminal element. From that you know how to survive in harsh environments and how to adapt and overcome, some overarching themes within the story. Then on the mission that nets you your psych profile, you and your unit were ambushed by a thresher maw attack that wiped out all but you and another person, whom was severely scarred mentally. With that paired with the earthborn background, it shows that, despite your resolve to fight against adversities and strive to become a better person, there are still things that exist beyond imagining and control, and it exposes the weakness of your character.. or alternatively provides you a resolve to further that ambition to get better despite anything that comes your way.
Apply that to the plot where you play soldier-(pseudo)politician with nothing less than galactic civilization at stake, with competing elements vetting to interfere with your goals along the way through various avenues.
While sure, similar stories can be used to validate other people's headcanon background stories for their shepards, for me that is the one that plays truest to me, within the realms of the story. It keeps Shepard human and grounded within all of the events of the story. It shows that you're aware of the tough decisions that sometimes need to be made to get the mission done, but sometimes it takes that civil approach to ensure the lowest amount of residual pain and suffering to others.

/end story tale. :P

that's the default Shepard I think. earthborn/survivor/soldier

really though it doesn't matter. each of the backgrounds have their own poetic merits.

T'would make sense though. Only CD's they've had were 2 and 3, and 1 only came out with the trilogy set for the system, sooo.. blegh.
Guess going to the 'official' forum or wherever-google-can-find seems like the best option.

Well, thanks to the shameless purchasing of equipment boxes right out of the gate (My excuse being "well since I had it on the 360 I can do it here"), I have enjoyed the ridiculousness of a salarian infiltrator armed with a widow.
Other than that and the drell vanguard I fool around with, I don't have much. But having the help from people I can respond to post-gameplay will make silver and above easier.

Is there still that spot where you can farm for gold in that frozen-industrial map whose name I forget?

I just disabled it myself to be less annoyed. As a rule though I saved at the beginning of every 'big' mission, and after every few minor missions. Quite a few times that came back to bite me in the ass (like when I pushed the mako off the cliff in Noveria...), but overall as long as you remember to save on your own, it's awesome.

EDIT:
So, on multiplayer, I've been seeing people with pictures on their profiles in the lobby.
How do I get this?

Does the level of difficulty (bronze, silver, gold, plat) matter when it comes to this? I mean, Operation Prophecy seems easy as hell to do..

Yeah, I had saw that after I got the challenge done.
Which was only after 30 minutes of looking for any type of picture. ._.
I did get the N7 [assault] rifle though. =D

I and some Krogan Battlemaster were in a match with two other unimportant peons. Between waves 5 and 6, him and I started headbutting each other. Most enjoyable random moment I've ever had playing ME online.
Then we both got swarmed by a fucking Geth Prime.

All those extra classes come from the Spectre packs and above right? I found that Turian soldiers just aren't my thing. ._.

Well, lesse.. Ignoring the basic humans in each of the six classes, I've got:
Asari adept; Turian soldier; Salarian Engineer; Krogan sent.; Quarian and Salarian infil.; Drell and Asari vanguards.
As for weapons, I got that promo Valkyrie from that Geronimo op, Geth SMG and Widow, and Mattock (I was overjoyed when I saw this), Phaeston, Scimitar, Eviscerator, Raptor, and Locust for weapons.

With the Turian (and by extension the Krogan), the big thing I can't stand is the lack of a roll. Either it's running, or ducking behind cover. (At least with the Krogan, I could melee into an enemy and rage off of it after three kills.) Haven't found a loadout I like with it, but it's
sorta
speced out to be a rifleman. Just, being unable to duck away from an enemy's gotten me killed more often than not.

Well, I toyed around with the drellguard, and so far I'm liking how nimble he is, but his lack of pain tolerance didn't appeal to the inner sado I have. I do see the potential in him, but I didn't put anything into cluster grenade. The one thing I can't work out is the weapon loadout. I'm half tempted to want to say a sniper rifle, or an assault rifle honestly. Sure the SMG/Shotgun combo's worked on the human vanguard, but the drell just seems suited to getting the foe cut down from a distance with the grenades, then smashing his face in with charge. Then with pull, if they're ducking for cover, bring the enemies out into the fray if they're cowardly hiding.
Least, that was my guess. Then I went back to headbutting abominations and husks, then charging those brutes and whatever-the-fuck the collectors had. =P

Yeah the melee thing sucks, but the only pitfall I've ran into is that, once knocked down, the heavy melee doesn't reach their hit box once/while they're lying down. Sucked.
