Free weeks and playing aram. You wont learn how to lane with the champions but you will learn their range and what they do. Aram is also generally quicker than most normal games.

If you know you don't ward enough, simply ward more. Make a real effort to do so. After you get out of base all of your wards should be up. You only have to control 3 now+ 1 pink so it isn't that hard.

1) CS. If you're in a lane and not supporting, your effective farm should be around 80-100 by ten minutes. I say effective farm because sacrificing, let's say, five-ten minions for a kill can balance out to be the same value despite the actual number being displayed as lower.

Is this factoring in the CS the enemy will miss by being dead?

Such as practicing and getting good with Twitch or Sivir and then switching to Cait/Ezreal, you can gain a new found respect and understanding of using their escapes/range.

Pretty much, all of the gold income items are good income if you can't farm/are bad at farming.

Other than the cheap starting gold items,
Wriggle's Lantern counts as a gold income item but it's a terrible item.
Avarice blade also gives you gold but does not count as a gold income item. (Meaning that you can have it as well as another item)

Also just because something isn't "technically wrong" doesn't mean it can't be "visually wrong"... you have to take into account the structure and composition of the image. The J4 splash isn't an anatomy issue with the legs (though the composition of the post and space is very off) it's that the artist clearly didn't outline the skeleton before adding on the armor, so it is structured wrong.

This is correct. Vayne is one of the few adc's that can effectively build BOTRK as a first item. But LW isn't needed second.

It's a bit bothersome that CDR in the mastery tree is 5% at the top of the offense tree and 5% at the bottom of the utility tree.
I can, as support, effectively get 10% at the start of a game. However, not every APC is going to be taking a 9/0/21 page, so if they choose to take that 5% in the offence tree their options for CDR to NOT go over the cap are CDR boots. (The only thing that gives 15%CDR)
Otherwise every other item gives either 10% CDR or 20% CDR.

But CDR boots aren't generally ideal on most APC mids and definitely not on supports since pretty much every support item grants CDR and like I said before, you can get 10% just from masteries.

For AD casters the 5% can be useful though as it's harder to hit the CDR cap on AD's than AP's.

I'm not trying to make any points here, just thinking on how I probably don't want to take that 5% CDR on APCs because I absolutely hate going over the cap. It might not be a big deal as maybe there is nothing better to take early game in the tree, though.

Honestly, this is most ranked games. Like they startegies/ skill level gets higher but there are a vast majority of the games that I feel are won or lost without me having a say in it. If there wouldn't be the penalty for 3 LP every time you dodge I would probably avoid some loses. I've lost nearly every game where my ADC was Ashe. The only one who didn't feed had 2/1/10 and their team was awful.

If you get a really bad team in champ select, it's generally worth it to dodge. Even if you only lose 3 LP for your losses normally... that's still ~35+ minutes you're saving. (Or if it's a REALLY bad team then ~20 minutes)

Ive never ever duo'd with any diamond players until I was mid plat already, and at most diamond V. I didn't even have any diamond players on my friends list until I regularly got matched up with ones who added me at the end of games.

While it may be true that there are obvious skill differences in different tiers, it doesn't make it any less true that this thread is mostly just shit talking now.

I have two of my friends who are now Diamond 1, who previously lost down to plat 3 after failing their DV promos. Someone gave it to me a while back to use as a chat program because he refused to download skype. I wish I could use it JUST for the voice chat because the timer part is annoying. It's a lot easier for me to just take the timer and remember the time and giving it to my team when it's close. Looking at the countdown is distracting and messes me up.

Finally, hit diamond. Went on a win streak in solo Q from my plat 1 promo all the way to winning my sereis. I wasn't too worried when I lost 2 of my series games. I didn't expect to get there on my first try though.
It's ultimately satisfying that I won my final game into diamond by hard carrying this bot lane ahri who was massively on tilt from the game he lost before on the enemy team.
He was pretty nice but made it clear that he didn't know how to play ahri and was doing it because he was upset. Then later said he's sorry he didn't pick an actual adc and that he'd bot lane more if more supports were like me. <3

Ultimately from my journey I've learned that solo queue is my best bet. I just win more when I play alone. I don't have anyone to try and not fail for other than strangers. (anxiety is a bitch)
I don't have to worry about the MMR going out of wack because I play with someone in low plat or high diamond.

I did. I had the Frostfang. I sold it towards the end because I had max CDR and wanted to stay alive as much as possible that game and I was confident enough in our CC that I didn't need a completed version. The Ahri was Diamond 4. If you are in promo's from P1-DV, expect D5's-D3's on both teams. This is usually true with any Tier 1 promo into a new Division that you will get low-mid tier people from the new division.

"It's not MY promos so I'm just going to afk until this game is over"
People are toxic all the way up the ladder. Some streamers have even been suspended in the past due to toxic behavior in challenger.
Some permabanned. (Not sure if anyone is familiar with the XJ9 fiasco... but... man that was some shit.)

Also Ashe support is really fun! I wouldn't rank with it though, unless I was very comfortable and confident with it and even then I can't see many situations where it'd actually be better than the general support pool.

In my experience, the things that decide games most aren't relevant to specific roles.

It doesn't matter who gets caught out mid game, you die = enemy get's baron

It doesn't matter what role you are if you are afk farming a lane when everyone else has agreed to try and pressure objectives (split pushing is fine in some instances, but know when to group and when it's acceptable to split)

Everyone is capable of keeping timers and being ready when it's ~30s till baron/dragon... Support/Jungler do it the most but at least acknowledge it and be ready. And if a Support/Jungler happens to not take a timer, take it yourself.

Being able to get sneaky wards off at the right place/time can be really beneficial. There are a lot of times where I see the enemy jungler top and I am in river, I can go up and ward their buff. Almost every time that I've warded deep someone on my team has tried to take advantage of the enemies buff coming up and it usually turns out positively for my side.

Also as a different note that can apply to adc's or supports... pinking tribrush usually isn't worth it unless you are zoning very heavily. If you are pushed back they will be able to easily kill it without you being able to contest. Only real exception to burning money on pinks for that specific spot is if they have a stealth jungler that you feel is a threat to you and you aren't safe going anywhere else. (Twitch, Eve, Shaco) If you are blue side, try pinking the bush above red behind the dragon pit, that one usually stays alive longer and catches the enemy jungler or mid laner sneaking around. I can tell I'm having a good game when my pink is not the only pink on the map.

And I would say that it's not worth reading a lot of the old posts because the game has changed SO MUCH that a lot of what has been said in the past just isn't applicable (A lot of item changes, champ changes, mechanic changes, some things just out right not existing anymore) barring extreeeeeeemely basic information: (last hit to get gold, stay behind minions, don't face check, take note of your own mistakes, don't rage, be friendly, pay attention in champ select, mobafire guides are usually garbage, etc.)

Good sites for general information:

http://www.surrenderat20.net/ (Regular updates about what is happening, things rioters are currently talking about, changes to champions on the PBE)
http://na.op.gg/ (More accurate mmr checker than lolking, can also check your winrates with certain duo partners, more total recent games, as well as your "leaver penalty" or how many "reported points" you have)
http://www.lolnexus.com/ - Can check the stats of your current game. (Rankings of players on both teams, mastery pages, rune pages, usage rate of current champion)

Also pay attention to when patches are happening and read patch notes. The more information that you acknowledge going into updates the more you adapt and change things you do based on what the game is doing.
When heal was buffed in recent patch, a lot of people were still taking barrier when the patch was finished. Those people either didn't take in the information of the patch or just did not read it. It took about a week before heal was consistently on every single team. Adapt to the game first, don't wait around to adapt to others adapting to the game.

Yeah you're right, I forgot that important piece of information. It's a recent change, unfortunately.
If you duo a lot or even semi a lot, just use http://www.lolking.net If you haven't played ranked at all in a month it can't tell you either. For it to stay accurate it needs recent and individual information.
I mostly solo queue so I never have that issue.

It sucks. Never has worked for me either. Riot says they are working on a built in recorder for the game, they just don't want to release something that will cause insurmountable amounts of lag... (haha) So it's taking them a while.
Only thing I know that works for people is Fraps. But man is that a hassle. :/

It's based on your MMR. If you go below the needed MMR for that league, you will drop.
But when you reach a new tier for the first time (Such as if you were to get to silver 1) you will have a temporary "shield" that will allow you to lose around 10 games at 0 before dropping. But if you win one, I think the shield goes away. You probably don't want to lose 10 games anyway.

I've watched her a few times and I personally find her hilarious.
There was a point in time where she was "crying" and she changed her music to a sad song.
For the entirety of the sad song, she zipped up her hoodie, hiding her boobs, and sat with a sad face. For the ENTIRE song.
Suddenly the music changes to something happy and she starts unzipping her hoodie and dancing and smiling.

There was another time where people kept asking her if she liked different things, such as "anime" and shes all "oh yes I love anime"
and then they started listing off several different animes, and she said "oh I love (whatever anime the chat just mentioned)"
Suddenly someone asked if she like Dr. Who and she says "Oh I love Dr. Who, that's one of my favorite animes!"

Part of me wishes I knew what she was like in real life, but regardless her antics are pretty funny.

The models absolutely do look as good as in the selection screen. The only difference would be the lighting environment.
I have no interest in playing another Moba as I can barely find desire to play this one anymore.
I wouldn't argue with you on how the game plays compared to your Cypher, I'm sure it's fun.
But aesthetically speaking, SMITE is the best looking I've seen with LoL in a somewhat-distant second.

Lulu

None of these are super popular mids right now (except maybe Lulu), but they can still be very strong when built for damage and you will learn the mechanics of those respective champs and will be able to translate that to skills in the bottom lane as a support.

Really though, the best way to learn this game is to just play. The road to 30 is long enough of a climb that simply trying out any champion that looks fun/cool on the free rotation every so often will be good enough regardless of what your preferred role is. You will likely get to play every role at least once when leveling up, and if you go in by picking champs that you yourself think will be fun, you're more likely to discern what type of playstyle or champions you personally prefer. Who knows, maybe by the time you hit 30, you will no longer want to main support. Just play whatever, you're still new. If you have the mindset of "x said y champion is bad so I shouldn't play them, ummmmmm" you might miss out on an opportunity to find a champ you really love. If you start out learning a hard champion, you might eventually become good with that hard champ. If you start out learning a "bad" champion, that champion might eventually become good. Riot has a tendency to buff/nerf different things regularly and how good or bad a champion is at the moment can vary greatly over time.

Yes. They give out the time and date of when each attack is going to happen and even give live performances so everyone can watch the DDoS as it happens. From what I've seen, they have always been on the mark.

The only real argument that I could see is that it would be too much effort or they like/are friends with the person being boosted and wouldn't want to screw them over.

I don't think there's anything wrong with your positive line of thinking, but I don't think some people's hatred or anger should be underestimated.

RF is 100% correct here.

The best you can do is not feed and or kill the enemy laner as much as you can, but also be ready to help your team during important fights.
She's actually a much better top, kind of like a Teemo matchup wise but with a better team fight presence late game.

However mid CAN be a great lane for you on the off chance your jungler is nice enough to give you the blues.

When new supports come into the meta, be it a previously mage-only champ or a new champion all together, the frequency of play among supports tends to change. But Janna's kit is amazing and if played right in lane she can be incredibly aggressive.
My Janna games generally end with me doing more damage than the enemy support and more than both junglers. Janna is often mistaken for a low-damage support so lower tier players don't favor her.

Q - Glitterlance

Decent at rank 1, there's no real need to max it first, but it's really up to your preference. Just like the rest of her kit, it's a great tool for escaping, especially with smartcast enabled. When running, whimsy self and shoot Q, E'ing only when you know you are going to be hit by something. Be wary not to push the minions in your lane when harassing with it. Only push with Q if you and your lane partner /want/ to push. If your team lacks waveclear, you may want to max it first. Use your discretion. Even if you are maxing it first, it's probably best to put your first point into it at level 2. You will be very vulnerable at level 1 without a point into shield.

W- Whimsy/PolyMorph

is a very strong ability and shouldn't be maxed last when you are in the supporting role.
When chasing someone, generally you want to speed up the person doing damage rather than poly the person running away, UNLESS they have their escapes off of CD. But depending on the escape, it might still be better to use the speed up. The poly is great to prevent over the wall dragon steals, but only to prevent the enemy from getting into the pit.

E- Help, Pix!

I personally max shield first, it is the most comfortable and I find it as very useful early game. Putting Pix onto your adc can help mitigate damage or buff their auto attacks when they are harassing. Especially when you go vs dive heavy teams, or when early dragons are at risk. On average, in high plat+ games, bot lane will likely be dived constantly, and dragon will be hot hot hot. Make sure that you shield yourself sometimes too, especially if you are auto harassing and are going to be taking minion damage.
Your E is also very strong vs stealh champs, as you can put pix on them to reveal them. If you are vs twitch and his stealth is up and you go in, make sure to get that pix on him if you think he can escape. Same for Akali and her bubble. When bush battling in bottom lane and you don't have a ward in their bush, if you get your E on the enemy support before they go in, that also helps. Keep in mind allies that need vision to hit their targets. Your E on the enemy can help Cait or Ezreal with their ults~

Even though your E is really good for protecting, it also does quite a bit of damage. And it of course sets you up to better hit your Q. However most higher level supports and adcs will run around in circles if you put pix on them, to try and keep you from hitting the Q. You can still hit them, but if you think you will miss don't waste the mana if you're low.

R- Wild Growth

You can use this to save people, or to knock up the enemy. It is a case by case basis on which is more important, but for example if your malphite goes in and ults the enemy team, after his CC has finished ulting him will provide your team with some wombo and maybe some combo. Don't ult Galio while he is in the middle of his ult. You will cut his ult short. Not that people play Galio... but yeah.

Runes/Masteries

Spoiler:

Hybrid penetration because lulu is good at auto harassing.
Scaling armor because I like being in constant danger early game, you can do scaling health or flat armor if you prefer.
Mana regen because I still love being in danger, and Lulu is incredibly mana hungry. If you don't spend a lot of mana on lulu, feel free to switch out for magic resist or something.
MS Quints because I can't stand being so god damn slow. Switching from Janna to Lulu is painful, even with this runepage. Of course, you can take something like GP/10, or Flat Health, or even AP. Whatever is most comfy for you~

I do this because I want the 10% CDR to start, and I generally build some resistances on lulu so the 5% buff to bonus Armor/MR is nice!
You don't have to do this, 9/0/21 is fine and so is 0/9/21. Generally the only real important things, for me, are the movespeed and gold buffs.
If you want the increased experience over the increased mana pool, go ahead. It's probably better anyway. I might change that.

I do not recommend upgrading Spellthief's Edge.

It's 500g, with no passive increase in gp/10. You can hold onto Spellthiefs until you need room in your inventory for something else. FQC is all together a lackluster item and you can get much better items to fill that 10% CDR you need. The only reason you want to start with the spellthiefs is to get a little bit of a boost to your early game harass. The reason you don't upgrade to Frostfang early game is because that 500 gold needs to go towards your sightstone and pink wards/etc. By the time you could reasonably afford the upgrade it's probably been too long and other items are just of more importance. If on your first back you can afford a sightstone and the upgrade, go for it. If you really want to use FQC as your 10% CDR item, go for it.

From there, build for your team. Finish athene's when you can, make sure to get your last 10% CDR somewhere. You could get a Locket, or Twin shadows. Either are great. Twin shadows is a very under rated item! Item CD mastery helps. There are other things you can get as well. Going over the cap isn't a mighty sin either, especially if you are building something with stats your desperately need.
If you are facing an incredibly high cc team, you may want to get Mikael's instead. If you do that, you'll need to get 20% CDR from something. Get what works best for your team and against the enemy.

Boots are always situational! Probably pen boots are least important on supp lulu.

If you can afford it, get a deathcap. It provides you with tons more utility for teamfights.
You can even go full AP support Lulu if you like. As long as you still buy sightstone. I do it sometimes when I'm having a really good game and I build a lichbane and a Zhonya's for fun.

Okay that's all I can really think of to say. I would give matchup advice but lulu works well with just about any adc. Supports she has a hard time against are those that can outsustain her poke and prevent most aggression.
Nami/Janna can be difficult for Lulu. Really though, late game you will still massively be able to help out in teamfights with your kit.

Having tested using it fully upgraded for dozens of games with and without, I find other items better.
I find the spellthief to be an overall more useful starting gold item compared to the others on Lulu. But the upgrades aren't needed.

I then ulted myself, which gave me tons of health while knocking her up and by the time our Elise got there she could kill her. It's a very easy tactic that I don't see a lot of lulu players employ but is hilarious when you execute it well!

Note: Do NOT do this to start a teamfight. It just gets you killed.

Generally I agree. Though it's still situational. I've started teamfights alone with this maneuver and won them. One exceptionally great time was when the enemy team was taking baron and I was the closest one to go in to stop it. My popping everyone up gave my team time to catch up, steal baron, and kill some of them~ But I wouldn't have done it if I didn't have faith in my team.

I think the problem you'll find is your fully upgrading it, getting it to the second tier gives you the 5 extra gold per stack, all for 500 gold.

Might just be me and the fact that pink wards never get cleared in silver.

I didn't say it was gold inefficient. Though the fact that it no longer gives 4 gp/10 when upgraded is still saddening.But I generally want at least 1 pink on my first back as well as SS. sometimes I can't even afford that. But SS should always be your first priority. And trying to get the item upgraded will just cause you to forego more important things like pinks/boots1/cup.

Also getting 1/2 cookies every back is good when you can. Even with a cup I still end up getting a few pots into mid game because you often want to stick around after fights to go for objectives.

Also clear the pinks, become better than the silvers. They are silver because of all of the little things they don't do.

I never cared about boob armor. It looks fine, even if it's not super realistic.
My main qualm with the Kayle art is that she looks too much like Pantheon.
I do enjoy the bubble around her and how it's painted.

Both.
I can E-Auto the enemy at lvl 1, EQ at level 2, if I can get the opportunity and I know my adc isn't going to take damage.
Or I E myself, go into auto kinda like one would do with a Janna.
I do different things depending on the vibes the adc gives off but I usually start off aggressive.

I've posted this video before and it's from a year ago (I've improved a lot since then x-x), but here is an example of where I mostly just E my adc or E the enemy to get bush vision.

I know I haven't played this game in forever due to life/priorities etc, but I have been following along with this thread, the new stuff that comes out, and some streamers.

Back when I was still playing a lot, changing these two things significantly changed how well I did in ranked games. Warding more takes effort and placement knowledge (not really any skill) but looking at the minimap effectively is just a habit you have to force and get good at. If you're warding more, though, you will naturally have to be looking at your minimap more to be able to get wards down at opportune times. (As support for example) You glance at your minimap and see their jungler was top and now you know he's not about to cut that corner to gank you, so you could potentially place a more outwards ward if you like, or even ward the buff he isn't at.

So to put it simply yes those are little things worth changing that will make things better for you. One more person paying attention and doing a good job is better than no one~

Ahri might not be a human but she's not an animal. Her design is absolutely implicit of an asian race.
Just like Warwick isn't categorized as human. Sure he USED to be human, but nothing about the character as he is now portrays that.

I'm honestly surprised I could find no spreadsheet or document for this anywhere. But most of the time when people do separate male/female they are encompassing all champions, even the grotesque monsters.
Rek'Sai is pretty cool in that she's a complete monster but also female. Something a lot of people have really been wanting for a while in LoL.
I looked through and honestly while there might not be much real world race diversity, there isn't that many pure humans either. My counting can be slightly off for totals but I have rough estimates! There are a few human characters that are so covered or so little is known about them you cannot really account for their race.

Total Champions: 124
Total HUMAN Champions: ~53 (counting nunu)
Total MALE HUMAN Champions: ~31
Definitively non-white male human champions: 9 ~Malzahar, Yasuo, Xin Zhao, Shen, Nunu, Master Yi, Lucian, Lee Sin, Ryze (look at the "human ryze" skin, bronze skin tone and non white facial features)
Definitively non-white female human champions: 3 ~Akali, Irelia, Karma,
non-white non-100% human characters: Ahri, Nidalee (She wears a bindi, implying she might be indian)

Well that certainly generalizes it and I guess you could do it that way.
Some yordles are more humanish than others, and it's weird separating them into different categories
Like Corki could be counted as a white male, but he's not even human. He's technically as white as Teemo is. But I think if you go completely technical and then go completely based off of looks, you will get different results. It feels like it's actually very difficult to draw definitive lines for every champion.

When I went through the wiki on every single character and there are a lot that are simply listed as "formerly human"
There are a lot of races that exist from historical mythos and some created by Riot themselves
And some it's just kinda awkward

^I feel this way with pretty much every team-based skin barring a few individual exceptions. The clothing always looks silly on everyone.

I'd say the most interesting one in this bunch is Twitch, only for the fact that his actual skin/fur is different. But the big shoes and puffy clothes still look awkward.

For more efficiency in your play, as others suggested- Unlock your camera ASAP. And once when you become comfortable with a champion and the range of their skills, practice smart casting with them.

Yay I finally got my account back. I had been trying to get a password recovery email that for some reason WASN'T going through, yet my ticket related emails were going through. I don't think my acc was compromised or anything. Just I have a terrible memory and make too many different passwords and am generally a disorganized person. It's odd that when you try to do a recovery ticket, it asks you several questions that you fill out. But when a rioter responded, they asked those same exact questions that I already thought I had answered. And after I responded, I got a different Rioter, asking me more questions. And then I responded to those. And then I got ANOTHER Rioter with more questions. So after 3 Rioters they finally had all the information they could ever hope to need and they sent me a recovery email that thankfully went through. The process didn't take more than a week though, so not so bad, I guess? I'm not aware of how support is with other companies other than Nexon (which is non existent)

Level 30 takes a very long time as it is. If anything they need to lower the exp requirements for leveling, at least past level 10, (The "referral level") and get rid of Tier 1 and Tier 2 runes as they are a waste of IP and completely useless. (In other words, they are a noob trap)

Making it harder to get to level 30 in the way you suggested would hurt a lot of real players. Support players, for instance, generally have very low to no kill frequency. (Or at least, if they are to be considered a decent support, they do) And winning 50% of games is not something the majority of the player base could reliably achieve. I think that the more reasonable solution would be Riot making an effort to detect and deal with these bots. Though perhaps Riot doesn't care as much because it's not something people even notice very often. At a certain point you will be past getting bots in your games (Even really terrible human players can beat bots), especially if you are playing a more frequently played game mode. (I suspect that bots being used in Twisted Treeline is because it is a map type that is not frequently played and they are less likely to be noticed or reported in that game mode.)

Having different, more difficult requirements for ranked would be interesting and potentially good though.

Even if the system is "unfair" in the amount of LP one gains and loses, every other player is dealing with that unfair system. But some excel while others don't. There are definitely multiple factors, but the biggest is definitely the individual.
If a player does well due to luck, that luck will not be consistent. You cannot hold your position if you cannot consistently play at the level you are supposedly at. If you are stuck with players that are worse than you, you WILL climb higher. It's just a matter of time and of course, keeping a proper hold of your mental state and not playing while tilted and such.

The only truly unfair factors that can affect how things are and should be would be smurfs and boosters. Which will make it more difficult (or easier, if you get the smurf on your team) to climb at the rate you should.
Oh right and latency and server issues. And riot not giving out loss forgiven during the server issues.
