Lifesteal isn't as great now.

Health seals are good after the buff. Hybrid pen is good for those tricky champions (or AP supports that like Spellblade).

Turns out my best champion is Rumble?

I'm 4-1 with him in ranked, apparently, with 48 kills, 17 deaths, and 44 assists. That's like... 5.41 KDA. I actually didn't even realize I was doing well with him. (By comparison, my next closest KDA is on Amumu, 4.98:1, then Heimer, 3.79:1).

Thresh does not become bad with zero damage, which is why nobody BUILDS damage on him and still wrecks. Granted, the extra damage on AA on his flay passive might could use a slight retool but overall I don't think it matters... the hook, the knockback, the massive AoE slow, the lantern... these are all things that have huge impacts on the game no matter how much or how little damage they do.

That's why I'm excited for Braum. I don't think Thresh needs a nerf -- I just think he is probably the only TRUE support in the game. Braum looks to have been created with the same design philosophy.

Yeah, when I play Orianna it's usually with a super aggressive carry like Tristana. I max shield first, shield her at level 6, she jumps in, I shockwave, she gets a double kill, and it's snowballtown from then on out. Then you just build her like a regular mage (minus the gold item + sightstone). Ori works just as well when she's utility based instead of damage based.

Other than Morgana, they're all 6300, aren't they? Picks like Soraka, Janna, and Sona are good for learning the support role, but I don't think they're great in comparison to the six I just listed. To be fair, I haven't played either since their tweaks in 4.13, so maybe they're better now?

I agree with whoever said to pick up a pretty straightforward point-and-click champion to start with... I'd recommend a tanky/bruisery top laner since there's more room for error, or a marksman/ADC to teach you the basics of last hitting. Mid lane mages are fun, but mid lane also has a lot of expectations around it to be highly mobile around the map, and learning when to roam and rotate is not something you should be doing at the start.

If you're just playing, I think honestly the best marksmen to learn would be Ashe and Caitlyn. Ashe will teach you how to kite/orbwalk well, and her kit is really intuitive and simple (passive gold gain, passive slow on a toggle, cone damage spell, and big global ultimate). Similarly, Caitlyn makes sense because her kit is about as straightforward as they come (line shot damage, trap, escape, snipe) and she has the best range for a marksman, meaning you can safely learn to last hit and poke.

If you're playing top lane, there are plenty of options available to you. Garen is the most tried and true tank to learn -- stand in bush, spin at things, win. Teemo is actually really easy to play, too, and counters a lot of the popular top laners. And someone said Darius... I agree, very basic and easy to pick up and understand, but he's on the expensive side.

First off, it seems ridiculous to say that Thresh doesn't do well as a support.

Buying every champion at full price costs around 85,000 RP, or about $550. If you can get them on sale, you're looking at a little less than $300.

I don't think he's AWFUL in the jungle, but he has the same weaknesses as Shyvana... no hard CC, only gap closing and chase potential. A jungler without CC is pretty weak, and even though he has a slow, your best bet to play Gnar in the jungle is to go Wriggles and be a farmbot then rush BOTRK anyway. I think he probably has a niche in the right teamcomp coming out of the jungle.

Ever since I've reverted back to my favorite S3 junglers (J4, Amumu, and Xin), I've been on a pretty great winning spree in ranked. The gank potential with those three is just so strong, though I tend to pick Amumu less because he's easily counterjungled in a meta where early game fighters are dominant in the jungle. If I can line up an Amumu pick with any sort of other AoE it's basically a free win (I'm 17/18 with him in ranked this season). J4 is my go-to jungler because his ganks are ridiculously strong from level 3 onwards, his tower-taking potential is insane with the flag, and he has TWO ways to make someone blow flash (Oh, you flashed my E-Q combo? Here's an ultimate to lock you down). Xin is the one I pick when either the enemy team picks J4 (Xin can just shit all over him and snowball early game) or when I see our team has a lot of tankiness and I want to build something more focused on damage. J4's damage is good if you build into it, but he plateaus, whereas Xin just gets fucking ridiculous.

I hate MMR sometimes.

I just got into a game as a Gold 3 with 4 Plat players who just steamrolled me. Luckily, my team had a Gold 3 Syndra who just raged at me the entire time because I didn't gank her level 1 as Fiddlesticks before even taking my second camp. -_-

Also, brought up an interesting point... if you're a jungler, and your jungle is warded and invaded all the time... how do you play around that? I always tried to keep 3 wards up and got sweeper early to try to combat it, but the enemy jungler (Hecarim) or the enemy midlane (Ahri) was always in my jungle. I fed so many kills, but I don't really feel bad because I don't think it was because of 'bad play', so to speak... I just had no moves. I can't really get out of my jungle alive if they have it warded and invade all the time. So what's the play, there? Let's say they invade you early, kill you at level 3, and start taking camps. You have to catch up, but how? You have to defend against invades, but how?

It is, yeah, but that's usually only with help from lanes. Fiddles is rather effective at fending off 1v1 invades in the jungle since he can drain tank Lee Sin and Nunu and Khazix pretty easily.

also someone posted something about the 7 champions being related to the 7 major arcana of Tarot, and that shrouded cards means inverse meaning... here's how they match up and what the cards 'mean' in relation to the champion:

1. The Magician (Twisted Fate) - Reverse magician means lust for power, manipulation, recklessness... a cheater.
2. The High Priestess (Cassiopeia) - Reverse means no longer beautiful/loving... Cass betrayed Sivir and became hideous.
3. The Empress (Lissandra) - Empress should be in tune with nature/fertility, Liss is icy cold and ice harbors no nature and is the opposite of fertile.
4. The Emperor (Xerath ) - Emperor is hailed for ability to create, Xerath can only destroy, and he betrayed the real Emperor (Azir)
5. The Hierophant (Leblanc) - Leader of an old order, shrouded in darkness, uses deceit to maintain status quo

Tarot decks begin with card 0, which is The Fool/The Jester. That'd fit with Shaco

uh no, building anything other than mana crystal is pretty much a waste on ryze. dorans ring is absolutely awful. dorans shield is less awful than dring but not by much. neither item has any stats that ryze wants

Then you get a Flask to survive, it's actually a good purchase if you're not starting Mana Crystal. Because you've supposedly taken tanky runes already so sustain + runes should keep you alive until you naturally build into tank per your build path

Jesus christ no, blue crystal is the exact opposite of what you want to start on ryze.

Ryze is an endgame monster, Ryze has difficulty in the early game. Blue crystal does fuck all for your early game you want items which allow you to survive long enough to get going. In top lane Dorans shield is goddamn amazing, less so when in mid-lane but still utterly amazing in some match ups.

Blue crystal is mana + DMG + quick tear/catalyst

Yes you can start stacking items 400g early, or you can choose to have a slightly easier early laning and stay in lane for a bit longer (generally getting you that 400G)

So, I'm 3-8 in ranked in my past 10 games, and two of the games I won weren't even fun because we won on DCs and bullshit. The 7 games I've lost... 4 of them were with DCs/AFKs, and the other three featured a massive feeder (as in, 11 deaths, not just a handful). And most if not all of the losses featured really uneven, skewed teams with the enemy team getting way higher ranked players.

It's just so fucking futile. 10 games is a pretty large sample to get repeatedly shit on over and over by DCs/AFKs/trolls. I didn't play perfect in a lot of those games, sure, but they were all very winnable with even halfway decent teammates, or even teams.

Playing Ranked 5s is about the only fun I get out of this game anymore.

Zyra can transition into a more damage-oriented role out of lane, so I'd usually pick her when your top/jungle are tanky and you need a bit more damage.

She's good because she has insane zone control. Nami is good for CC and harass, sure, but nothing keeps the enemy ADC off of farm like two Zyra plants blasting away at them.

Her plants also get around Braum's shield/Yasuo wall/other projectile blockers. And like I said, she's really there to dish out massive damage. It's good with a support that can follow up on your CC chain. And people tend to forget she does decent damage as a support, so you can turn dives pretty easily. She also has a ton of disengage, just like Nami.

Support Jinx: start spellthief, max chompers, zone lane because they can't go anywhere in lane without taking 300 magic damage
Jungle Jinx: Get a hard leash to start, clear a few camps, go B, build the AS enchantment, then build into lifesteal and itemize from there. I took lifesteal/AS runes, I think
Top Tank Karthus: the only good AP ratio he has is really on his ult; so instead you sacrifice big ult chunk damage for being an unkillable teamfight source of constant dmg (Catalyst -> Tear -> Righteous Glory, 1of FH/TM, 1of Abyssal/Locket, then Ohmwrecker)
