Fallout 3 has that "nothingness" feeling for me, and Skyrim also has this to a lesser extent, but New Vegas and Oblivion felt populated by some relatively memorable characters.
I still enjoyed Skyrim, though, and I liked Fallout 3 enough to soldier through the platinum PS3 trophy.

Agree with this. The quest with Harold really stands out. I didn't even find it til my 3rd or 4th playthrough.

The Fade is my favorite part of DAO. I guess it's a long dungeon in the middle of a long dungeon, so I can understand the fatigue.
DA2 is so heartbreaking. So much promise, so much obvious lack of completion. The DA2 DLC is A++, too; it gives a sense of how it might have been if they'd had a proper schedule.

It's not a bad game, and it improves on some stuff, but it also cuts out a lot of the tactics and difficulty of the original. I have to agree, though, that Legacy especially demonstrates what Bioware could have done with the base game.
Yeah, I like DA2, but I can't help but feel really sad while enjoying it. It's kind of like playing disc 2 of Xenogears, only a more extreme version of that, because in Xenogears your thoughts are pretty divided between FEELS and noticing that the cutscene started 2 hours ago.

Yeah, there's a big WHOAA moment about 3/4 of the way through BG that is casually spoiled super early in BG2. Also, you can import your BG character into BG2. I'd only start at BG2 if you know you don't want to bother with BG.
I meant it in the sense of, don't give up if it seems kind of aimless.

Did anyone play the Escape From Horrorland adventure game that was released in 1996? It was a Goosebumps spin-off that some friends and I were really into and quoted from endlessly.
I just discovered that Isabella Rossellini was in it, which kind of startled me. She's probably a sex demon or something. I remember that Jeff Goldblum was Dracula.

Is it worth buying and playing through? I once stayed up all night reading a very colorfully-written summary of all of the scenarios, but I never played it myself.

It's not too bad. Some movie scenes have some noticeable jerkiness and I've run into bugs once or twice and some scenes that require more precise touch recognition could be more responsive, but that's all. It's very playable. I only noticed the jerkiness after I read a negative review complaining that the port introduced the jerkiness.

Spoiler: Chevre's Choices
Episode 1
Didn't lie to Hershel. Honesty was just one of the big things during my playthrough; the "you were honest with _____" must have popped up a million times during Episode 4.
Saved Shawn over Duck. He was just more of an asset to any chance of survival we had.
Sided with Kenny on Duck's being bitten, I was also very considerate regarding bites/injuries/etc.
Didn't give Irene the gun.
Saved Carley. I just feel like there's so much more development with her than Doug; it just feels like the natural choice.
Episode 2
Didn't kill Jolene
Didn't help kill Larry
Didn't kill either brother
Didn't loot car
Episode 3
Didn't shoot woman
Didn't leave Lilly behind
I guess I fought with Kenny in the train cab, but half-pacifism, half-not knowing where to click led me to just take all his punches lol.
Killed Duck myself
Helped Christa onto the train
Episode 4
I killed the zombie boy
Didn't threaten Vernon
Took Clementine to crawford
Saved Ben
Episode 5
Only Omid and Christa went with me. I let Ben decide for himself and there was no way Kenny was going with me unless I chose the "family" option
Didn't cut off arm
Argued calmly with Kenny
Gave up all weapons
Didn't kill the Stranger
Told Clementine to shoot me

I liked the combat in DA2. The encounter design was terrible, but the combat itself in terms of ability usage felt really fluid. In DA3 it typically feels like too much of a hassle to use the tactical camera, but combat feels pretty boring if you don't micromanage a little bit.
I'm on my second DA3 playthrough now. Rogue Archer Nightmare run. It's not too bad so far. I figure I just have to massively outlevel "that one boss," and I'll be home-free!

Yeah, that's the boss fight. On my Hard playthrough I just finished I had to cheese the encounter by continuously running back to
the Chantry
and exploiting that some of the enemies would deaggro. :p
If you're playing as a Knight Enchanter, the game is trivial on basically any difficulty from what I understand (i.e., once you're past that boss fight and have unlocked specializations). Make an on-hit guard armor for added hilarity. Do the same for Vivienne for more silliness. I think (this one's not a story spoiler)
one of the locked doors in Redcliffe may always have Fade-touched Obsidian, which I think always gives the effect
I'm told that the fight is a lot easier if you side with the Templars, since Fiona is a lot squishier than Denam. But I've also heard that the boss at the end of the Templar arc is harder than Alexius, so maybe it washes.
I've actually heard the opposite. I've been dreading going the
templar path
on my nightmare run for just that reason. :p
Denam
himself isn't that hard if you can isolate him from his support. He's pretty slow and you can avoid his abilities if you don't have to worry about other units staggering you.

Once he glitched out and just stood there and let me wail on him without doing his scripted attack pattern before moving to the last platform, once he did the same before the
dragon fight
, and once the
dragon fight
never loaded and I just kinda stood around awkwardly because he was invincible at 1 HP. Maybe I killed him too quickly or something.
I think
it's not an Archdemon in the sense that it does not have the soul of an Old God in it, but rather just part of the soul of Corypheus. The characters call it "his Archdemon" because that's their concept for that kind of dragon.

During the first part (well, second part) he's supposed to go up and shoot like laser beams at random players from an inaccessible position, and you have to micro-manage your party to hide behind the walls to dodge the fireballs and such. He only actually initiated that attack pattern 1 of the 4 times I played through the segment, though. I think the fight's kinda super bugged.
Also, one of the times through he talked to each of my party members, but he only did that to
Cassandra
most of the times. So I think he also has banter triggers that weren't triggering properly.
The other people who complained were also PS3/PS4 users, so maybe platform-specific.

I think basically
Kate Mulgrew is in OITNB now and/or got more expensive and/or lost interest so they had to write her out. So Solas will kinda take her place in future games.

I like Nate a lot!
Velanna is pretty bland, but I liked her in the playthrough where I used her. I think most players used Anders because he's likeable and a healer and you get him earlier.

Nate had lots of story stuff due to the stuff in the basement of Vigil's Keep IIRC. I think he also had lots of unique Human Noble communication options, and I was a Human Noble Queen in one playthrough.
Sigrun and Justice I usually got last, so I used them less. I lovelove Justice, though.

The entire game is like that. The area that JDodge is talking about is just an area with (tons of) sidequests that appears right before endgame.
I've heard Lightning Returns is really solid, though.
Definitely recommend playing Final Fantasy V/Tactics/4 Heroes of Light if you like the job system in BD, because Bravely Default pretty much takes all it's cues from those games.
Final Fantasy Dimensions is pretty good, too! I think it's better than FFV.
