Back to my thing- playing as them. Zepher kinda hit on it nicely.

I usually prefer to play really passively, which doesn't really work a lot currently with ADCs all expecting you to go balls to the wall 24/7. Last season I could play someone like Nami/Janna no problem, but this season it's more difficult because I find a lot more trading

I have champions I know better than others that I try to prefer and play, however at the same time I try not to damn the comp (so I'll play something I don't play as often if we absolutely need it).

I liked Lulu a lot last season. Haven't really been able to get into her that much this season, mostly due to not really having that much success with the gold generation as her.

Tear rush, next item varies by playstyle. The sentinels and f5 midlaners go different things (and they are the only people whose Jayce opinions count other than that Korean challenger guy)

Jayce wants three stats, cdr, ad, and arpen. Everything else is kind of secondary, the only exception being you need some mana item to be useful without blue.

That means you want to minimize your investment in mana, because it doesn't help you fight past a certain point (any extra mana after a fight is over is wasted stats). tear is the best item in the game for mana by far. That leaves essence reaver giving less ad than other options, plus a bunch of stats and a passive you don't really care about

It has the same AD as BT and IE

And it gives CDR

I had 10% CDR with just runes and masteries, and hit 30 once I got BC which was my rush. then with blue it was 40, and I was getting blues. I like Brutalizer, but I feel like in this current meta it's not very useful, the percent armor shred is better than the CDR.

I'll just go over everything at once.

1) Trailblazer - I don't think you need this. Maokai already has pretty good sustain on his own. I would recommend either Stalker's or Skirmisher's. Stalker's is good if you feel like you lack CC, Skirmisher's is good to just not die AND have better dueling.

2) Sightstone - This
can
work, but you need to be using it all the time. Vision is OP, I gree. But you need to
USE IT
. Even moreso on a jungler, where it's NOT necessary. Also, if you're going to play a sightstone jungler, Nunu is by and far the best jungler for this.

3) Merc Treads + Alacrity - It's clear tat you're not buying mercs for the MR here (the only magic damage on their team in Rumble). However, look at their CC and can be tenacity'd - Thresh Q + R, Rumble E + R, Rengar E, Kalista E. And all but one of that is
slows
. If you want to not be bogged down by slows, buy swifties. Also, I disagree with Alacrity here. I would say Homeguards OR Captain enchant here. Homeguards is obvious. However, you have two champions on your team who want to dive. If you engage, Captain enchant will help them follow up.

4) Locket of the Iron Solari - I'm not totally sold by this right now. Looking at their enemy team, there is 1 AP source (Rumble) and 3 AD (Zed, Rengar, Kalista). Get yourself a Randuin's Omen now. That has more HP than Locket (which means you benefit more from Cinderhulk), and the armor + slow will help you lock down the multiple assassins. That said, Rumble is the only person on their team you need to worry about.

5) Iceborn Gauntlet - THIS is where I would get Locket. You already have a lot of damage threats on this team (Fed trist, Diana, fed Irelia). YOU DO NOT NEED MORE DAMAGE ON THIS TEAM. PLAY THE GIANT TANK.

1) I disagree. Trailblazer helps maokai's clear tremendously, and seeing as he already has a ton of CC and a damage reduction, the other smites are rather outweighed. Along with removing the chance of smiting a champion on an objective. Also, Maokai imo gets rather mana hungry early and this helps.

2) I built it on aatrox when there was a Nidalee. It's tremendously snowbally, but you are right that you need to actually use it. Sightstone is and always will be an extremely strong item.

3) Even with all the slows, I think merc tread is better. I don't have the math.

4) Locket is a great buy versus rumble. That is all.

Voided, a mikael's would have gone great.

I also see sorakas building Warmogs but I can't attest to the viability of that, but mikaels is definitely a higher priority than say, frozen heart (they only had one real autoattack threat in jinx, and she wasn't even fully fed) Mikaels could have cleansed a Teemo blind or shen taunt.

That being said, I think Ardent was an okay buy considering your teamcomp- all of them are heavy autoattackers. It's stronger earlier in the game now, with the bonus magic damage on hit being unimportant late.

If you have been interested in a more defensive item, you could have bipassed the ardent and gone for a banshee's veil- Helps against teemo shrooms, ezreal poke. etc.
