switch Grave titan to tidespout or grisel, yeah. grave titan actually doesnt do that much in legacy.
Iona is basically superior to empreyal vs basically everything. I actually run Iona maindeck as my primary DR target in dredge, and she wrecks most of the decks she lands aganist. I'd say -1 grave, -1 empryal, +1 grisel, +1 tidespout
but its your deck, so whatever youre most comfortable with

for a "keep" hand, yeah, but for hands that could go either way, it is now better to mull because you get 6.5 cards?

Thing is, you cant have one without the other.
I played my deck of choice in legacy for near to 2 years before i finally understood all the interactions that the deck had with itself. It was only at that time i could make a unique change. Every time before that point that i tried to change, the deck fell apart and crashed horrifically.
Netdecking exactly is pretty close to a requirement, otherwise you wouldnt understand why the deck is the way it is. Even a single card can change win percentages massively.
Keep in mind im mostly speaking from the standpoint of a legacy player, where decks has been worked on for many years by hundreds of people.
In standard, eh, things change. Brews can be more sucessful there, but still, i dont think its a bad thing to pick up a known thing and pilot it.

Scrub = shitty player?
Eh, netdecking is a thing, for a reason. Its just the fact that there exists prizes. For 100% casual games with nothing on the line, netdecking shouldnt exist, outside of very interesting decks that cannot be built any other way (of which theres very few)

Gonna bow out of the discussion- if we're talking about sanctioned formats, that isnt an outlet for creativity period. Only real place for 100% creativity is at the kitchen table and assorted casual formats. Theres basically nothing more to say to that than that.

Handicap yourself by dropping the deck's strength. I find that building decks around themes helps a lot with this. In game you can be as spikey as you want, but if the deck is intentionally depowered, the game becomes much more challenging for you.
Alternatively, start (quietly) figuring out the play errors your buddy is making, then identifying the major ones, and try to uh,, politely and nicely point out the better plays availble.
"Whew i thought you'd do this instead" is one way, i think

i agree with the above post.
Twin was a pretty damn fair deck to play against. sure, it can just win if you have your pants down, but turn 1-2 will make it obvious its a twin deck, just play smart and its winnable. not to mention theres oodles of relevant sideboard cards aganist it

Spellweaver helix in play, sorcery imprinted on panoptic mirror, ischeon secpter in play, karn animating both the secpter and the mirror, and a mirrorweave making all creatures your creature a ischron secoter.
Then you can use the mirror-which-is-a-scepter-now to cast a sorcery, which gets spellweaved.
Edit: actually, any card that can imprint a sorcery, and that isnt chrome mox can do this instead of panoptic mirror

Pay attention to your 4 mana slot. very often you end up with way too much 4 mana cards in this format.

Well, I do, but i play dredge/belcher only, so i have the playset of LEDs required for degenerate combo. If i didnt, and was looking to buy in to legacy now, i'd honestly go to modern instead. price spikes has been stupid as hell.

Modern is pretty wide in terms of viability. Nahiri control decks is pretty strong, along with various aggro decks and such.
