Hey dude. I have a strategy I'm thinking of using. One of us busses the other Day 1 or Day 2 to prevent town from getting a 40% chance to win. You okay with that?

Don't do this Day 1 if you don't get the chance to talk pregame.

I think we should wait until night 1 to make any explicit decisions about that (I think doing that day 1 would probably not be the best), but I'm definitely down for that plan. I think we should definitely be flexible and not just say, like, I'm bussing you day 2 no matter what.

callforjudgment
, I have a question on something I'm not totally clear on in your rules: is it acceptable to plan ahead during night phases words or phrases that I might use during the day to signal certain information to my partner (e.g. "if I say this phrase X, that's me indicating that I think you should do this action Y")? rules C7 and C8 seems to imply that this would be okay, because that doesn't happen outside of the game insofar that this thread and the game thread are both part of the game and neither of them are off-site, but I'm not totally sure that that's considered acceptable. that's one of the areas where the generally accepted site status quo have expanded significantly in the 8 years that I was away from the site, so I'm not totally sure whether actions like that are okay or not.

It's typically considered a breadcrumb by moderators, even though it's noticeably different from the "normal" sort of breadcrumb. It's not something I currently consider to break the rules (although I agree it's a grey area, and I might have to think about what to do there for future games).

I've seen it used before, but I didn't know the actual code. I just know it was used.

seen what used? I'm not sure I follow.

followup question: is it fine if I have a particular image as a signal? it would be a reasonably large, noticeable animated gif, so it's something that should be noticeable to everyone playing (unless someone's using Lynx as their web browser, I guess???). if that's alright I'll post the image I'm thinking of using here. otherwise I think I'll just stick with a single one-word sentence that means "I think you should bus me now".

Assuming that the image doesn't break any rules in its own right, using it as a prearranged-in-the-scum-PT signal is fine.

cool okay here it is:

Image

again, this image will serve as an indication that I believe you should bus me. (of course, feel free to do whatever feels correct in your playstyle--I won't freak out if you bus me before I use this, although I might use it to affirm that I agree that it's the right choice)

that's fine. if we need a backup of some sort (say the tide shifts and it's better to switch who's bussing whom) I'll suggest the sentence "okay????" with 4 question marks.

We need a "stop bussing" signal then.

also this is a very elaborate system for probably very little pay-off, but it's an idea I've had since coming back to the site that I've not seen implemented anywhere. we'll see how it goes, I guess (assuming either of us even actually ends up needing use it—ideally, we can avoid this sort of signaling altogether, but it's a nice backup option)

anyway I think I'll probably maybe be asleep when the game starts so I'm not gonna get the chance to say much more here until night 1 (assuming we both survive until then!) so good luck!!! this should be fun.

So let's talk reads. Alchemist outed a decent list, so let's start there.

I'm really curious how all of the people who said that they'd read me as town if keyenpeydee flipped scum will feel about me tomorrow. obviously unless things shift significantly there's a good chance that I'll be lynched tomorrow, and while it would make sense for you to be on my wagon, I don't think you should start out hard on that wagon.

rb seems like a safe-ish night kill if we want to just kill someone who most everyone is town reading, which seems like a safe plan; I don't think killing someone who's more divisive makes sense right now.

if I do survive day 2, I think we should both hold off on voting anyone and just wait for any of the other three players to vote each other, but we can wait until night 2 to plan that kind of thing out.

p-edit: the shoe promise? I mean, you did get a mod edit explicitly instructing you to eat no shoes, so I think you can get away with just a "well nevermind mod says no shoes on the menu tonight"

If we want to kill someone who isn't divisive, I say Alchemist is good because he has kinda flown under the radar. CR and Mas are out of the picture entirely if that's how we want to kill.
