So sorry everyone - like I said at game start, weekends are hard for me to participate. Usually I can get in at least a post, and this weekend that just didn't happen.
Thanks so much for the extension.
@math please show me town BuJ? Also, I'll throw out there that both scum-BuJaber and scum-math seem more than capable of voting in a team with their partner.
Also, wait, math, you just said you see the argument for town BuJ (which I don't), and you've been saying all game you see me as resistance as well. Why is it more likely that your vote analysis has shown you who is town than your reads, especially given how many meaningless votes there have been?
I think it's time to go through the aforementioned "maybe math is spy" read through...
...
not sure irrelephant is town now
i guess i could possibly see an icon/math wifom scumteam
or buj/irrelephant
considering we have 1 day left VOTE: Iconeum, Mathdino, TheGoldenParadox
wowwwww that was rough. Honestly, the biggest problem I had was not being able to lean on the board game format of a leader. When everyone gets to vote for anything, it's much easier to read votes as math did. I played towny well, I thought, but lesson learned on keeping closer track of my own votes (also on bussing my partner too hard).
Great game math, TGP, Ico, you all did well. BuJ, I submit that you played a better game than I. I had fun in the short amount of time we had, but wow do I have a lot to improve on before playing another round.
No because that would be the dumbest decision by icon/math to include me or irrelephant for mission 3 and I would never stop teasing them for it.
Imo irrelephant shouldn't have been scared to vote for me/icon day 1. And also should not have stopped arguing with me once he started (or not argued in the first place).
But also I was arguing my strategy that I follow when I am town and the first mission is a pass. I have no idea why you guys can't see that it is literally the least-risky path to a town win. I was basically betting my scum wincon on the fact that you guys will make a 50-50 mistake on mission 5. I practically game threw by giving you the winning strategy.

Honestly I don't think you played badly. It was just the vote day 1. Not sure why you didn't guarantee me going mission 1 when you were in the best position to do so.
I am a firm believer that if scum have a chance to go on mission 1 without drawing too much attention they should every time. Whether or not they sabotage it depends on a lot of things including what their game plan is for the rest of the game but they should always try to be on the first mission.
It's funny I was having a hard time actually deciphering if your strategy talk was good strategy. I just decided not to care and focus on making it sound like the
way
you said things was scummy, while arguing that other strategies are good too
Formal request for future Resistance games: include the leader mechanic.
Personally I think this version is overly townsided. Losing the leader mechanic reduces the amount of WIFOM scum can use, lets town do closeup vote analysis, and removes the ability for scum to gain points by repeatedly passing until scum is the leader and town
has
to let their team through or give spies a point (this is actually a key way I have won as scum in many IRL games). The lack of daychat and the ability to re-read in a forum already work in town's favor. Leader mechanic is one of the genius things about resistance's balance.
That's interesting and is something I'd like to discuss in the Discussion thread.
It's actually fairly well accepted right now that on the mafia side of things, forum mafia is significantly more scumsided than face-to-face, because ability to reread the thread is nowhere near as good as being able to read your friends' faces. So the loss of the leader mechanic (which was dropped due to difficulty of implementation), which I'm not sure I'd call scumsided, is 'balanced' by the newfound ability to do VCA.
If you look at the Resistance game I modded, the entire scumteam basically continually fucked VCA by voting each other onto teams and signaling or just passing missions they didn't have to. Town didn't stand a chance at all.
But, that game was 7p and this is 5p. So balance is definitely a discussion that should be had.
