I've been trying to get into this game as a way to make irl amigos and have even started to play arena (I found a way to do it on my phone, too!). Feels kind of tough to engage due to the mix of a money barrier and ignorance about exactly what I should buy in order to enjoy the game. Guess I'll just keep playing games on Arena until everything clicks? It's too bad that even there I have to gradually win booster packs or happen to encounter people playing new cards to learn more about the kinds of cards and mechanics in the game.

having no trouble meeting people beyond the sense that they prefer to play w people who already know enough of the game for play to feel fun to play with
yeah i guess ill just have to accept ill make mistakes and keep going

any data sets potentially worth analyzing tied to MtG aside from say a database of existing cards?

yah i can hardly even imagine actually buying cards but maybe the day will come
