The Curse of Rata Mall - Bathrooms

Image
File Photo: Who photographed this? Get them out of the mall before it opens

Map

Present:

Ariel
is Carla Temperton: Female, Late Teens Medium Height, Slight European accent

Description

There are two sets of loos here - Male and Female. THere doesnt appear to be a unisex or seperate disability loo. The Mall owner should probably do something about that.
From here, you can explore both rooms to see what you find.

The Mens bathrooms have been flooded, and there is a broken pipe. It is not currently flowing. (The left most is the Mens)
The water is slowly draining away through the drains.
There is a lot of graffiti on the walls.
A mirror or window has been smashed in the mens bathrooms

Room Deadline
(expired on 2020-09-19 08:00:00)

The pipe looks like it was broken off by force, the ends are wrenched and twisted. It's dripping, and looks like it was flowing earlier.

VLADDDABOOOOOOOOM

There is a bone shuddering and violent explosion across the air. You are thrown to the ground from where you stand, getting you soaked in the process. Your ears are ringing. Something happened elsewhere in the mall.

Your dynamite did not get soaked

And as you pick yourself up, you swear you can hear your walkie talkie

The drains appear to go down into a rather flooded looking tunnel below.

Nothing in the bins, drains or sinks. There have been people here previously, so there may not be a lot of loose stuff left.

The water is dripping down to the tunnel, but its not the clue you are looking for. Perhaps your grandfather left a clue somewhere.

It seems functional - but not currently recording. It's focused on the graffiti'd areas as if to put people off tagging the bathrooms. It clearly hasn't done anything to dissuade people, there's graffiti on the walls anyway.

The mirror wasnt a mirror - it was a window. Not see through. Leo smashed it.

The grafitti behind the womens loos says
"The Phantom"
"H2O"
"Use what you started with - Harold"

The message from Harold is oddly placed, but you assume he had a reason. It's on what appears to be a piece of wall that isnt connected up properly. You pull it off and can clearly see your metal box inside the wall. THe bottom half of it must overhang the tunnel. It looks tough. It looks like it was built into the mall as a way of keeping valuable stuff very secure.

From the safety of the other loos, you hear the dynamite explode loudly.

You return to find that the box has been blasted open

Inside are several gold bars, a letter addressed to you, and a silver key

The letter read
Carla - If you have found this, this letter includes the title deed to the mall, its yours. The gold is yours. Take what you can, or get help. If you need to escape the mall secretly take the key, it will open an emergency exit from my offices. There is a two person escape pod I had the professor make for me some time ago.

Your new win condition is to escape the mall.

Escaping is better than surviving to the end.

You will be able to carry 2 gold bars in addition to the one you are already carrying, but they will deduct one from your fight strength while carrying them. You dont need them to win, but you don't want them being shared around too much. There are 7 gold bars all up.

You dont need a second person to use the escape pod. BUt if you have an ally in this game you wish to help, you can offer to bring them with you.

In post 35, Ariel wrote:Do I have any indication that if I try to get someone to escape with me, it'll be a good win con for them too? Sorry if that's a weird question
Not really, you will have to judge how likely they are telling the truth - and whether their actions line up with what they have been saying.

Not exactly. Your win condition changed when you reached your primary objective. There are others who are in the same boat, but if they havent achieved their objective, they wont know it yet. Theres no restriction on you leaving alone. It wont be relevant to everyone

The hand dryers are not functioning. They look ok, but they have no power.

The alley way leads down and around to the bank. One door is open, and the other shut. You can go into the Bank if you desire, but I will need to make up a new map complete with Tesla :D

There is also a smashed up ATM here - No power. Its been thrown through the wall by a truck collision.

And finally there is a dead body here - a bank employee. Looks like they've been dead a long time. Theres not much of them left. It's grotesque. They appear to have been searched already.

Yes, the boot is locked, but the car is not. You don't have the car keys.

You'll need to go into the bank to do so, so I will prep the map shortly. The truck is partially in the bank too, so thats also an option.

Use the truck for that *its half in the bank now - the tesla was shunted in fully, earlier *
Throw the gold on the truck roof. If thats the only thing you are going to do in the bank, I wont do up a map. But if you plan to explore, I will have to :)

You look into the drains, and the area the dynamite blew up. The tunnel looks to be flooded right now. You grab a piece of debris, and drop it in, and you hear a sploosh sound.

Two gold bars make a splash sound as they drop into the tunnel via the drain in womens.
Two are in the box
You are carrying 3. They are heavy.

The gold you gained earlier has gone through the glass window seperating the truck cab and the truck carriage.

From the alley you can see through the damaged wall ( that the truck caused) that the fire in the phone store is out. There are sprinkler systems taking care of it. You can see the side of the elevator shaft, where someone pulled away the wall. The store is still smoky

This is hard to explain. I might try draw a diagram tomorrow

You would be out of view of anything by being in the alley itself, as long as you dont want to where the ATM was thrown through.
