Telephone Pictionary is a game of silly miscommunication. To get a better idea how this works on a forum, review the results of the most recent game here. Drawing--and drawing under 72 hour deadlines--is required, although talent isn't necessary. (Effort is still appreciated!)

This game will have a minimum of 20 and a maximum of 30 chains.

Your /in will only be counted once Outer Space (or Discord: ariel.ace) receives a starting sentence from you.

tl;dr: 72 hour picture deadlines. 24 hour sentence deadlines. Fast chains get fast reveals. Slow players get replaced.

Game Flow & Timelines

Basic Flow

• Starting sentence:
  Submit this to get /in. It shouldn't be incredibly long, but it can basically be as silly as you want it to be. Some examples can be found in chains from past games, but please don't copy those exactly.
  
• Receiving a sentence:
  When the game starts, starting sentences will be sent out to a different player. This player will have 72 hours to portray that sentence in picture form and send me the result. (Note: Please don't actually take the full 72 hours every single round. If you're busy sometimes, that's fine, but if you're consistently waiting until the last day, please keep in mind that other pictures/chains may be waiting on you.)
  
• Receiving a picture:
  When you get a picture, you have 24 hours to send in a sentence summarizing it. I'll send you pictures to summarize as sentences as I receive them, even if you already have other things to draw/write. Please send in sentences promptly! It shouldn't take too long.
  
• And so on & so forth:
  Each chain will continue for 13 of these rounds: 7 sentences and 6 pictures. Chains will be posted on the wiki as they are completed, which will probably vary wildly.

Deadline & Vacation Deets

• If you cannot meet a deadline, please notify me as soon as you've received the sentence (or picture)--or, better yet, tell me before you receive one. I will find somebody else and send it there. I will also do this automatically if you have not drawn it in 96 hours.
  
• If you miss multiple picture deadlines, future deadlines shrink by 24 hours. I might restore the full time after a few rounds, if I don't have to prod you under those conditions. (But please just try to not miss deadlines! That's the best approach.)
  
• Somebody who consistently fails to meet deadlines will be kicked out of the game at my discretion. Especially somebody who doesn't announce V/LAs beforehand.

Picture & Sentence Standards

General

• Please don't break the site rules. Keep it reasonably safe for work, and preferably not too gross.
  
• These rules may not cover everything against the spirit of the game. If I'm forgetting a rule, I'll let you know. You might be asked to resubmit in light of this.

Pictures

• Submit .JPG or .PNG photos. Please no .BMP. Please use a nondescript file name. Ideally, max of 800 pixels wide by 600 pixels tall.
  
• Please be mindful of where you upload your pictures to. Most people use Imgur, Discord or Gyazo uploads these days. Tinypic deletes its pictures without warning, and anything uploaded to the wiki is accessible by other players.
  
• Any art medium (drawing program, hand drawn, diorama, etc.) should be fine as long as you can submit as a picture/scanned image of it
  
• Anything drawn should be drawn from scratch. You can use Google Images as a reference, but don't paste other people's pictures into your own or rely on AI.
  
• Words are completely banned. English letters used to denote words, and codes (camel octopus dinosaur eagle snake), will also be sent back with a stern warning, although if it's relevant you can use them to portray the alphabet. Numbers and symbols and math are all fine.
  
• Please don't intentionally mislead anybody--do the most accurate non-legalistic picture that you can. The chain will find a way to mutate anyway.

Sentences

• Keep it to one sentence, don't intentionally mislead, and don't be too legalistic about what you are summarizing.
  
• If you don't think the picture is about the fourth wall, don't break the fourth wall.

Miscellaneous

• Please don't talk to other players about the sentences/pictures you got. If someone tells you anything about a chain you haven't seen yet, please let me know.
  
• I may note in-thread if somebody is behind.
  
• If you haven't sent a link in within 48 hours for a picture, I'll send you a prod. Other actions may be taken if you're inactive for the full round.
  
• Have fun! If you aren't having fun, you should talk to me about it, and I'll do my best to find you a replacement. You can also talk to me when you are having fun, of course.

Chain Progress 24 hours in

Yes, more than half of you are overachieving and have done at least one drawing!

Legend:

Even rounds are drawing tasks and odd rounds are sentence tasks.
IP = In progress. I've sent out the task and haven't gotten a response yet.
Done = Sentence is written but the drawing is being held until another drawing is done. That's the default policy; only one player has asked me to send them drawing tasks even if they already have one.

It's not a coincidence that R2 IP = R3 Done. Basically, everyone who's still drawing for their round 2 has their round 4 drawing task waiting for them when they do. I'll probably send out some gentle reminders for those folks soon. Those of you who haven't gotten any sentence tasks yet should be seeing one come through pretty soon. About 1/3 of the player list has no open tasks.

We do have one chain running slow that's causing another chain to be a little slower as well. I'm working on confirming if I need a replacement artist; please feel free to let me know if someone's available in case I do.

We also have one chain that's in the lead, and other than that, everything's on Round 4-6 which is quite good.

bugspray has requested replacement; I have their current tasks divided up (thank you DragonEater70, StrangerCoug and Ausuka) but I will need help with another drawing pretty soon and would like another volunteer.

Starting to see more divergence between faster and slower chains, but overall we're progressing well. We started less than 6 days ago, so

Most chains are between R6 and R8 right now (out of 13). We might get out first reveals pretty soon as well. Exciting!

Also, I want to shout out fireisredsir and xofelf for helping fill in on some replacement tasks. ambic will likely get the extra round 10 drawing when it's available and there will be the round 12 one up for grabs later.

As far as the overall game update: We're officially done with Round 5 on all chains! And I expect we will get our first reveal by this weekend. I've been trying to stay a bit better on top of prods. I think the general progress still looks good, so I've being fairly lenient as people have situations come up.

Official part of the game is done. No more progress on Bonus chain as of now - I'll keep updating on it periodically though.

We took 32 days to finish 27 chains (351 tasks) compared to 21 days to finish 23 (299 tasks) in the summer 2023 game. So we were a bit slow, and I definitely had more prodding to do. However, more one-offs are likely to come up in a larger game, and I think me now being in a Euro time zone when most of you aren't may slow things down a bit across the board.

If you have any feedback modding-wise, feel free to post it here so any future mod can benefit. Thanks for playing y'all.
