There were some questions about why ms doesn’t do vote locking: it’s not a thing that ever happened when site was new, and it has the potential to confirm scumteam size in games where that isn’t desirable.

Isis has a method I think is the most elegant which is if every scum player posts after a post where they can qh for the win, she will accept a qh by pm for the whole team.

I'm currently unwilling to consider it a Normal mechanic as it drastically changes the XeLo meta (gob's vote gambit in 710 and 711 would be impossible with XeLo Vote Locking) and also requires that XeLo be declared (declaring XeLo is not site meta, and would be tricky in unusual setups).

Agreed, Lich. I just don’t see a reason to introduce a new mechanic to address people trying to gambit in a way that doesn’t usually pay off ime.

Although the scum team being able to ping each other is a thing that didn’t used to be possible within site rules either and I think is very obviously pro scum.

I do want someone familiar with XeLo Vote Locking (or is it just ELo Vote Locking?) to create the Mafia Discussion thread about it's possible implementation as a Mafia game rule (of the type that would be in the Game Notes section of the ruleset) that moderators can apply to their games.

I'm not familiar with XeLo Vote Locking myself and mostly have the anecdote in 720 to go off of

Nice? I haven't had a proper scum role since 2007. I rolled town 10 times in a row when I started playing again, got one multiball scum game which was played like at least 90% trying to hunt Fire Mafia just like if I was town, then 20 more town games. I literally don't know what it's like to play scum in a vaguely normallish way- that blitz game where I finally broke the townstreak just after this sure wasn't it either. I feel like I'm at something of a disadvantage in being able to identify early signs of scum play because I literally don't have experience seeing things from that side of the game. It's kinda driving me crazy and sometimes I just do wacky things like spend the game role-playing a goose or come up with an elaborate fake claiming scheme to try to scratch the itch that comes with constantly having to solve the game rather than manipulate it.

I'm gonna have a 30-game townstreak next, aren't I?
