Actually no

A few months ago I claimed JK as scum, "stopped" two kills, wasn't killed the following two nights, and literally nobody questioned me being town at ELo. Then in another game Flavor Leaf claimed a PR, guiltied his scum buddy, was "cleared" based on this, and was never shot before ELo and still won.

So yeah, this kind of gambit does work. Not always obviously, but often enough.
