I need 1-2 reviewers for a 9-player open setup:

Name: A death in the family

Premise: Two goons have been working for the same godfather, but they've never met. Now that the godfather is dead, it is their job to find each other amidst the town chaos.

I've done all the math already. ;)

It is partially informed minority vs. uninformed majority. Here's the "lone goon" role:
Lone goon
- Each night you may choose to visit a player's house. If that player is the other goon, you meet, allowing the two of you to night-communicate from then on and all your future night-kills will have 100% chance of success (but you will only be able to submit 1 NK as a team). If the visited player is a townie, then there's a 33% chance that the player will spot you and you will have to kill them. (Your kill still has 33% chance of success if the other goon finds you the same night.)

Based on your previous work, you know for certain that your partner is not one of {list of 4 randomly chosen townies}.
Now, before you say that the mafia is supposed to know everybody's alignment, consider the games with cults/SKs and multiple mafia families.

If that's the case, I'd have to disagree. It'd be like a daystart (or the first day in Don't Lose Yo village if you are recruited) in epicmafia--you don't know who your partner is 'til night in those, so you might be lynching them.
This wouldn't be much different.
I'd think it'd work something like this:
Partner: Name
to the mod, once per night to try and find their partner.
Perhaps they can't kill 'til they find their partner?

Alternatively,
Kill Player, Partner Player2
, with each kill only having a 50% success rate. Something like that.

I can take a guestimation at how things would work (like the 50% would probably be too high, yet the 33% too low; it'd probably have to be lowered/raised to about 40, but that's where guestimations take over), but I'm not the best person to ask.

But the thing with this setup is, is that not a single person knows anyone else's alignment, so the game is random. I'm not saying the game can't be run or won't be fun, just that it isn't really mafia since there is no informed anyone for anyone to scumhunt for.

@Mastin, I don't play on epicmafia, so I don't know what goes on over there.

@charter: Not true. The game is far from random. The setup is such that scum have to find each other to gain the full potential of their team. As such, they are torn between exhibiting pro-town behavior to avoid a lynch and exhibiting scummy behavior, so that their buddy targets them. Scum still have an agenda (1. Make sure a lynch is one of the 4 townies they know are not their partner and 2. find their partner) so townies can hunt for players with this agenda. This is very much in the spirit of mafia, even though nobody has perfect information.

(And heck, in games with SKs, nobody has perfect information either. Yet, that's mafia.)

I'm Planning on running "
The Fast and the Furious Mafia
" as a mini theme once my mini normal ends. I have just now started thinking about possible setups, but if anyone would have an interest in this and would like to help me design the setup and maybe back-up mod it with me, PM me. Thanks!
