Now that I think about it,Nominate sirdanilot for sirwhinesalot.
Consider that there is an advantage in reducing the number of nominations for titles. When everyone feels fine nominating whatever just popped into their head five seconds ago, it dilutes the quality of the process. I think Oman's original ruleset was superior, and that it should have been given time to prove itself.(11:26:07 PM) thesheamuffin: I'm counting gurgi because I would probably make out with him if I were drunk enough-

Quantity of titles suggested has been a problem in the past.Ythan wrote:How does a greater volume of nominations have any negative effect?
Quality will go up if people put more thought into what they are suggesting. Very few pun titles are clever enough to be worthwhile. Of the pun titles that are good, I would say that most have other characteristics that make them appropriate for being a title. The pun just makes it funny. We should be trying to make primarily meaningful titles, secondarily funny ones.
Quantity is opposed to that.(11:26:07 PM) thesheamuffin: I'm counting gurgi because I would probably make out with him if I were drunk enough-

Oman, any title that is 'good' should be allowed, whether it's crammed into a pun or not. I thought part of your job was to judge if its good or not? Why are you using that as an argument? And plenty of people gave their opinion.
It's dumb to just put up your policy and refusing to change it further, even though an obviously illogical element is part of it.-

I'm so glad you're keeping up here. It's obvious that you're not spending any time on this other than the 30 seconds it takes you to type the post, and it really shows.sirdanilot wrote:Oman, any title that is 'good' should be allowed, whether it's crammed into a pun or not. The major point is that the policy was altered, I never refused to change it. I even said to ani "if you can give me a solution i'll implement" (I ended up going for a variation of Flay's "usually" solution). I altered the policy, such an "obviously illogical element".
The secondary point is that I'm done with you right now. If you're going to put forward falsities such as this, you're going to lose my respect, and you're likely going to look stupid to other people too. It's unfortunate that good oral sex excuses bad chemistry. - Korts-

As I thought about this and because I saw ani agreeing with me as soon as I posted I had a rethink of my opinion. I understand where your coming from but username and avi based titles have been good in certain cases before. I think your revision to rule 3 reflects this and am happy with the change implemented.Mostly retired. Unless you ask or it's something interesting.-

Thank you for considering (and implementing) the change. I do think most pun/avi titles are dumb, but occasionally they shine. Like someone else said upthread, usually because they have some other element that makes them better than a straight pun, which is why your wording looked to me like a "no matter how good the title is, the presence of a pun will invalidate it". I'm glad your internal view was more nuanced than that.
Cheers.Retired as of October 2014.-

The period helps make the joke because it lets the "demo" part stand out more, in addition to being a play on his username.Ether wrote:Shafted's title is a good example of a perfectly good title that somebody decided to fuck up by throwing in a period.
Plum's "forbidden fruit" is another example.KappaJust MonikaAge is a very high price to pay for maturity.-
