L O S T

season two


At the end of the first season, you all managed to blow open the mysterious hatch in the ground. As you descended into the hatch, you found a fully functioning base full of technology, and one pesky little computer attached to a timer of some sort.

You're not sure what it does (well actually, you are, check the rule below), but you know you've got to press it every 108 minutes. Oh, and it would appear some among you have less than honorable intentions, so do be sure to sort that out as well.

General Rules

Modified, but stolen from Vi with... its... permission.

1)
Starting and Ending States:
The game starts during the Day. All roles that can communicate at Night may do during pregame. The game will end when one faction has fulfilled its win condition, unless otherwise specified.
2)
Day Procedures:
Each player may discmes the game and cast a single vote at a time against people they want to lynch. Day ends when either the deadline hits or a strict majority of the votes are on one person.
3)
Voting:
Votes should be in
bold
in order for them to count, for instance:
Vote: Jacob
. If you wish to vote for a different player, you don't need to unvote. As long as I can tell who you're voting for, I don't care if you abbreviate someone's name when you vote them.
4)
No Lynch:
As an alternative to voting for someone, you may
Vote: No Lynch
, but for it to take effect, enough players must vote No Lynch that it would be impossible to form any other majority.
5)
Deadlines:
Deadline will be 3 weeks.
6)
Mass Inactivity:
In an act of pure villainy, I may shorten the deadline if I deem the activity level is unsatisfactory. You will be warned if I want you fellows to pick up the pace.
7)
Deadline Lynches:
If no single player has enough votes for a lynch at the deadline, the result is
No Lynch
and the game proceeds to Night. Deadlines are there for a reason.

8)
Twilight:
After someone receives the majority vote, everyone may still discuss the game, but votes and unvotes will not be considered - the person voted for by the majority will be lynched regardless. Twilight will last until I waltz in and post a death scene.

9)
Night Length and Procedures:
The topic will be locked at Night. If your Role PM specifies that you have a Night Action, you may follow the instructions on that PM to use it. Barring extenuating circumstances, Nights will not last longer than 72 hours, but will not be shorter than 48.
10)
Night Action Resubmission:
If you have to PM a choice to the mod (i.e. the name of someone you want to kill/protect/investigate), you may change your choice at any time during the Night by sending the mod another PM with the new choice. The most recent choice will be honored.
11)
Role Overlap Policy:
In the event of overlapping and/or contradictory Night Actions (i.e. a mutual roleblock), priority is given to whoever PMs the mod with the action first. However, if two kills are submitted on the same target, the most damaging death will be the one displayed (You can slit someone's throat first, but if he got blown to smithereens no one will care about his throat...). Finally, if two vote modifying actions affect you, the lower amount takes priority.

Bolding Stuff:
Bolding something is how you get the mod to notice it. It's that simple.
13)
Mod Color:
If the mod needs to edit your post, it will be done in
green,
italicized and bolded. Don't impersonate me.
14)
Activity, Prods, and Replacements:
You will be prodded if three days have passed since your last post. You will be replaced if you do not post after another two days, or if you need to be prodded three times throughout the game. If you know ahead of time that you will not be able to participate for at least 48 hours, go ahead and announce it in-thread so nobody (such as
the mod
) thinks you're lurking. I reserve the right to blacklist flakers or people who maliciously replace out.
15)
"Last Words" for replacements:
If you request replacement, you may PM me a message that you would like to have passed on to the person who replaces you.
16)
"Bah!" Posts:
If your player slot is killed off, it's probably becamee people don't want you around. Unless your role specifically states you can keep talking/voting/play parcheesi with me, you are allowed one informationless "bah" post and then scram til endgame. Special mechanics can of course overlap.
17)
Outside Discmesion:
Don't discuss this game outside of this thread with anyone unless your Role PM lets you do otherwise. Note that all QTs are only available for use at night, unless otherwise specified.
18)
Post Edition:
Editing or deleting posts is not allowed (and usually not possible). Doublepost with your changes instead.
19)
Mod and PM quoting:
Do not post any part of your role PM in the thread. You may paraphrase, but if it's too close to the actual PM, I will modkill you.
20)
Modkills:
Breaking any of the above three rules (or flagrantly violating Rule 16) will result in you getting modkilled. Modkills can be retroactive. If a living player breaks any of these rules, the day may or may not end, depending on what would disadvantage that player's faction the most. A dead player breaking any of these rules will result in someone from the same faction getting modkilled. In addition, getting modkilled results in an instant loss for that player, along with our general hatred. In short, follow the rules. Note that I're not planning to keep a blacklist of people to refmee in our games, but there are two of me, so I'll remember..

Win Mentality:
Play to win.

Policy:
Have fun. Or else. And remember, it's a game - keep it classy and don't take things personally; everyone's doing what they have to to win.

Setup Design:
Please do not attempt to outguess me as the mod or the setup designers. While it is based on flavor, it is completely unbreakable, so stop trying.[/quote]


'PRESS THE BUTTON' RULE

You have ALL been tasked with manning the station in the Hatch. This means that every 108 posts, someone must post a single post of the following:
> 4 8 15 16 23 42
EXECUTE

This means posts 108, 216, 324, 432, etc etc. must be this. Failure to comply will result in Hatch detonation, which will immediately end the day with the person who failed to press the button being killed in the detonation.

Jack Shepherd sat there, holding the bloody and wounded Ana-Lucia in his hands.

"God dammit… no…"

He turns and glares up at Sawyer, who was still holding the smoking gun. The air in the hatch was thick and silent as the rest of the camp watched their two leaders stare each other down. Jack marched over to Sawyer with a look of hate in his eyes.

"What the HELL was that, James!?"

Sawyer showed little remorse.

"Oops."

Jack turned away for a moment, then just spun and took Sawyer off his feet with a huge right hook. He turned to the rest of the survivors.

"Drag him away. Deal with him. Properly."

As the rest of the crowd drug Sawyer off and 'dealt with him', Jack was faced with an important decision.

HOURS LATER…

Jack lay hooked up to Ana-Lucia. With the help of a couple people, he was ready to give her blood in order to try and save her life. The amount of blood he was losing at such a rapid rate was worrisome to the others. Jack tried his best to reassure them.

"Now…listen…when she wakes up, you're gonna need to…"

Jack trailed off as he felt his strength wane. His eyes rolled into the back of his head as the last bit of life left his body. Moments later, Ana-Lucia's eyes fluttered open.

"What…the hell…happened?"

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

Everyone rushes into the computer room, where jasonT1981 is frantically mashing buttons together trying to stop the countdown.

"Dude… what did you do!?"

"I'm sorry! I feel asleep and completely forgot about this! How do we stop it!"

The hatch begins to shake violently. Jason looks up at everyone with a sad look in his eyes.

"Go! All of you, run! Now! There's no sense in everyone going down with me."

gandalf5166 steps forward, holding a key in his hand.

"Not if I can help it. Everyone, leave. Jason, you're coming with me. We're going to stop this."

Everyone leaves as Jason and gandalf crawl underneath the hatch computer to a little keyhole in the floor.

"Are you sure you know what you're doing?"

Gandalf nods.

"Here goes nothing…"

Gandalf jams the key in the hole and turns it. A bright, white light shoots through the sky as the electromagnetic energy in the hatch is released at the last moment. The hatch does not explode, and the timer is reset to zero.

The failsafe key Gandalf held, however, has now dissipated.


It is now Night 2. Nobody has died as a result of the timer hitting zero. Actions are due 72 hours from this post.

I'd really hate to do this...but as it turns out, jasonT1981 severely broke Rule #19 with his post 563. I'm sure it wasn't his intention to break the game or be spiteful with it, but after consulting with an outside source, it is too blatant of a rule violation to let it slide. He is more than welcome to participate in my future games... and this is my first modkill... I feel sad :(

In the remnants of the hatch implosion, everyone stands around, a bit confused.

"What... was that?" Locke asks.

"That... was your faith being tested. And we were sent a savior..." Eko replies.

They both turn and look at Desmond, who is visibly shaken.

"Don't you see, Desmond? THIS is your destiny. This ISLAND is your destiny!"

"Aye?"

"Yes..." Eko trails off as the three of them look over at Michael, Claire, and Jin. "These three... these three don't have faith. They weren't there to help us."

The three of them begin to back up. Michael pulls a gun out of nowhere and fires off a single shot. The bullet whizzes by, clearly missing the target. Michael fires again, but all that is heard are clicks. The empty clicks of the chamber. Eko charges towards Michael and bashes him in the side of the head with his Jesus Stick.

Locke turns to Desmond, putting a hand on his shoulder and a knife in Desmond's hand. He points towards Claire with a smirk.

"Her?"

"All of them, Desmond. They ALL have to go... so we can fulfill our destinies."

Claire begins to weep as Desmond walks up to her, brandishing the knife in his hand. He flinches and hesitates for a moment...and then quickly slices the blade across her throat, spilling blood everywhere as she collapses to the ground. He lets out a burst of air as he stops holding his breath.

Locke, the leader of the three, walks over to Jin. Jin tries to fight him off, but Locke blocks the punch and uppercuts Jin, sending him to the ground.

"Desmond! Knife!"

Desmond tosses the blade to Locke, who leaps on top of Jin and bloodies him a bit.

"This... is... our... DESTINY!"

Locke plunges the blade into Jin's chest.

Locke stands and wipes his hands off. He stands at the edge of the crater where the hatch used to be. Desmond and Eko look up at him, their leader.

"What we've had to do here over the past few days... it's not pretty. Jack, Sawyer, Hugo, Ana-Lucia, Charlie... these three... they all HAD to die. They were the sacrifices The Island demanded. And now that they're out of the picture... we can finally begin to fulfill our true destiny. Don't you see!? Our faith has been rewarded!"

The other two nod accordingly as dusk sets in.

Mod's Thoughts:


Wow... town just fell to shit this game. I really didn't expect it to go like that. Day 1 was an absolute catastrophe - the dayvig sent in a private kill on the FUCKING COP, then he got LYNCHED, then the reviver SUICIDED in order to revive the cop (who was clearly going to get either blocked or killed).

In retrospect, I'm not crazy about the idea of putting in a limited-shot SK, and will probably never do it again, because it encourages the SK to save up his shots until the end of the game. There WAS a clause in his wincon that said he'd win any one-on-one scenarios, despite not having a kill.

The hatch imploding... bad news. Supercop ability would've helped...but...I had to modkill jason, which completely fucked up the balance of the game.

Also, I'm not sure what town was thinking on that final day, but there was still a remote shot at town winning the game, had vezok not outright claimed redirector AND had they not lynched Faraday.

Overall... just a really horrible performance from town. :[

Well it doesn't matter, because you guys lynched town. If you hadn't claimed AND lynched scum, you could've redirected the kill to one of the scum, or the SK could've shot one of the scum, or you could've redirected the SK kill to scum, or redirected the roleblock to block the scumkill...
