Here are the coordinates that I have:
Claus (caranha): -60, -330
Implosion/Stefunny: -200, 200 (cave of death)
Socio: 222, -55 (Store)
Joth: -23, 5
MME: 770, -145
Tanstalas: 180, -350
JmJ: 25, -46

Im currently building a road from my town to Tans´ tower, and after that will connect this road to MME´s road - the western continent will soon be all connected! :-)

Sounds good, but is it possible to make it closer to the spawn point? (or we can just have a line going to spawn from there). Once we decide on the train station, I'll try to build a subway track from my town to there.

This is a work in progress. The file is huge (800k), and not everyone in the bookmarks is in yet. Anyone knows how to make it interactive-y using java script and/or google maps API? (so that you can make parts of the overlay appear/disappear)? If anyone wants to try their hand at improving the map, the edit file with layers and stuff is below:

The road from my settlement (-60,-330) to MME's (770,-145), passing by Tans' tower, Socio's shop, and Supermouse's island is complete! Feel free to wander and see the beautiful sights, or if you don't have the time, check the screenshots below:

Hmmm, How about a tunnel following the road from below instead?

In other news, found the train terminal in respawn island at -100, 122, is that it? Will start digging an underground line from my city to here.

So, I have started my next big project: Subways! I'm going to connect one line to Kscope's Spawn train station (-109,122), one to Esurio's Forest (-500,-500), and I want to connect one to MME's villa too (what coords should I connect to, MME?). That will take a lot of iron :-) Screenshots to come when I finish the subway station in my city.

Kscope -- absolutely! Making those long train lines will take much more iron than I currently have in hand. Once I start diggin the tunnels, I'll put the coords here so you can help dig/lay down the lines. Also, you could make a renewal of your central station in Spawn Island, so it can be better seen from a distance.

Untrod -- What are the coordinates? Depending on them, it may be easier to connect to Kscope's station or mine.

YAY! I have finished the Claus-Kscope subway tunnel! It connects to a few natural caves on the way, so be sure to check out. Now I need to connect those using rails - Iron donations (any quantities!) are greatly appreciated!

Donations can be left at the box in either Kscope´s train station, or my own.

So, the Kscope-Claustown subway is COMPLETE! Hop on a cart on either direction, push the button, and off you go in your merry way! No more need for dangerous, tiring tracks at night. The subway even ignores world holes - the cart just zip past through it.

If a cart is not at the terminus station, please put one there (with about 3 carts in each station chest, this shouldnt be a problem)
If the trigger gets stuck, just push the trigger cart again in the top until it aligns with the drophole (you´ll know when you see it).

I´ll make a break for mining/building, then make a similar train to MME´s town.

BTW, if you want to build a small house in my city - be welcome to! Even if it is not your main home, just so we can populate it. - just dont build near the shore/hills that can be seen from my place - I have some plans for those.

---

Oh, BIG thanks to Socio, who donated most of the Iron used for the subway (12 blocks!). More iron donations are always welcome.

After finishing the tunnel, I walked over to MME´s continent - there is a great bridge in that road, and some nice views. Supermouse´s
new house
old house I didn´t know about was nice too. I really recommend folks explore that path.

However, in the middle of the forest before getting to MMEs city there is a tunnel full of torches in strange patterns, and stairs leading nowhere. That is kinda creepy - who built that? :-P

So, the Claus-spawn subway is off-line for improvements.

Turns out that the world holes, hateful things as they may be, gave the carts enough boost to go through the entire line - without world holes, the carts won´t have enough energy to get to the end of the track. I´m trying to find out the best way to place boosters to make the line work even without holes, but I got sick of it and will finish it tomorrow.

Yay!

EDIT: Subway back online. It works if you pass through a world hole, I'm not sure it works reliably without them. If anyone experiences not being able to go all the way in the minecart, let me know and I will add some more boosters.

Kscope, you want me to autoboost the track between your igloo and the train station next? it is a pretty short track, so it should work without any problems.

So, I have set up door-based boosters on both ends of the spawn - undiscovered paradise line. The booster on the undiscovered paradise side is not resetting properly, so you may need to reset it manually, I will fix that next time I log in. Also, I had to mangle the spawn station a bit to make space for the door booster - However, now I know how to make the reseting process a bit more reliable.

Cheers!

Minecraft Beta 1.3

* Implemented a new lighting engine with the help of MrMessiahs (can be turned off)
* Changed the options around, added a new “Graphics options” button
* Added beds. If all players in a map sleeps in a bed during night, the game immediately skips until morning
* Added three new half-size blocks
* Added Delay/Repeater redstone dust blocks

* Added whitelisting to the server. To use, enter “whitelist <cmd>” where cmd is “on”, “off”, “add <player>”, “remove <player>”, “list” or “reload”
* New save file format, old maps need to be converted (that might take a while..)
* It’s now possible to have more than five save slots, and to rename saves
* Scrollbars in both the texture pack list, and in the map selection screen
* Replaced the Mojang splash image to reflect the new logo colors
* .. and a bunch of bug fixes and tweaks!

Also, I have enough wool that we can all have a bed. That way we can skip night. It even works in SMP, as long as everyone is asleep.
This makes is marginally impractical in SMP, as I typically spend the nighttime hours int he safety of my mine
Well, the average number of people in our server is 2-3. I can see it being used if two people are alone on the server and using it together, or if all three people online want to get rid of the night at the same time, but yeah, it won't get used most of the time.

Can anyone confirm if beds reset spawn points in this new version?
Read the wiki. It can't :-(

just be careful folks. It seems that beds are a bit bugged, and it might be possible for mobs to spawn near you even if you sleep in a well lit area.

I would suggest that if you try out beds, do it somewhere that you don´t mind getting creepered.

Nice find esurio!

I am exploring the beds in my single player world - I think I may have hit what makes beds safe. Apparently, beds ignore adjacent walls when looking for mobs, so if you place your bed in the center of a well lit room (not touching any walls), mobs shouldnt spawn.

Or at least that is my theory, if anyone would like to help me test that, it would be appreciated.

Anything interesting there? Newly generated chunks in the new version should have prettier deserts and sandstone under sand layers.

BTW, for the deep diggers out there, Slimes are now quite common in the game. Slimes will spawn in large caves below layer 20 or something. It seems that in SMP they are almost impossible to kill, although the small ones can't damage you. If you see a large one and can't divide it, just run away until it de-spawns. Don't build train lines below layer 20.

Nope, I'm running on Linux. BTW, today I'm not having "can't connect" errors anymore. Also, notch mentioned on twitter that the server had some downtime recently for maintenance.

My main suggestion is to have at least one tunnel branch follow the height y=12.6. That way, you are just above lava level, and can find all sorts of interesting tunnels, possibly with diamonds!

Oh, please please please - if you get creepered in my roads or town, please report here. I dont mind at all fixing the damage (got plenty of materials), but I cant fix them if I dont know they're there.

esuriospiritus wrote:Don't build too close; I'm planning on building a giant music box at some point.
I tried building a smallish music box near my place - however, the lag on SMP servers in general (even when it is just a small ammount of lag), makes music tempo REALLY unreliable. I suggest many short/simple songs instead of a big one.
InflatablePie wrote:Any reason why I can't pick up any blocks and the blocks I destroy just respawn in seconds? <_<
Either you are in the spawn-safe zone (a 33x33 box around the spawn point) -- or you are experiencing severe lag. Since you said your messages were taking a while to appear, it is probably lag.

(By the way, I logged in a few times over the weekend, and experienced no lag -- the lag on this server comes and goes unpredictably -- if you have lag, try a few hours later)
A lot of people wrote:Griefers griefers waaa waa waa
I agree with Jdodge, we need to be very careful before throwing griefing accusations around. Things can get sour really quickly. Specially things like "invisible griefers who found our server out of nowhere". If we had such malicious, evil cunning scum in the server, they wouldn't just steal a few stacks of iron and creep a few roads. This looks more like good old fashioned cluelessness to me.

Socio DID take down his own shop, at least on my town, he left a plaque saying so. The remains of his original shop do look like they were burned down (glass, stairs, fences remaining, etc), but there is ALSO a plaque there from him ("damn creeping griefers", or something like that).

Creeping roads and random points around the world is NOT griefing -- it happens to everyone. I think it is rude if you don't tell others that you were creepered in a place you did not build, but I can see people who don't realize that (we need to enlighten them before slapping "GRIEFING!" around).

The missing iron is a more serious matter, but like JDodge said, there is not really possible to log block changes. I have a few suggestions:

1- Set a MOTD - I think it is possible to set a message in the server to be displayed every time someone logs in. Put something like: "Rules: Don't take things in chest that don't belong to you. If you get creepered on someone's else buildings, report at the thread: XXXXXXXXXXX"
2- IF the stealings continue, the 1.3 server has a whitelist function. This would force everyone who wants to play to post here at least once (and be reachable by PMs).

Shaking the thread up a bit - I´m 1/3 done with the hotel in Claus Town. Now when you visit, you won´t have to hunt for a place to sleep anymore. Also in the process I found a dozen of mini caves in the hills near my home, if anyone wants to explore them with me (not sure if any of them is deep or not), drop me a line when I´m online!

What are you guys doing/planning to do?

Something funny just happened to me. I logged in some minutes ago, and found the remains of a creeper explosion in the ouside of the building I was in, maybe 10-20 blocks away from my position - the item blocks were still scattered about - that means one of two things:

Either A- someone got creepered off less than 5 minutes before I logged in, and logged off right away (I was alone in the server) -- very unlikely
or B- creepers sometimes explode by themselves when logging in! Maybe that is old news for some of you, but I've never seen that one before.

Just in case, I left a "Time Marker" in the logs, in case the mods want to confirm that there wasn't anyone on before me :)

In other news, the hotel construction proceeds - slowly. Wool has been hard to come by recently.

Probably wasn't you - it wasn't close to spawn. Talking to JD on the server, it seems that logging in when laggy and at "night" may cause random creepers to explode. Creepers need "line of vision" to explode (walls/glass blocks that) - the creeper loads before the world/block loads, and may explode in this short while, even if there is a wall separating you from it. Not much can be done about that.

As for non-mafia players, I would wait for UA/other admins to make that call. It would be nice if any players would post on/read this thread regularly.

Hey guys, I have said this before, but I will happily chip in to help with the running costs. My only request is that, if possible, I don't want to use Paypal because I hate them with a passion. How much are the monthly server costs?

I don't really care for special "donator" groups, or mods in general - if people want them, okay, but I prefer things to stay as vanilla-ish as possible. On the other hand, it would be really cool if we could set up a cron job to make a weekly map of our server. I offer to help with the technical side of doing that.

Esurio, thanks for the warning about the bar. My advisor is back from this trip, so I'm super busy and won't have much time to play for the next week or two. I needed to upgrade the device anyway :-P

My city suffered relatively minor damage. My hotel was destroyed and flooded, and my barn and the train station had their roofs removed. But the house itself was okay.

I guess we will need to Whitelist.

Airboat! Airboat!

Yeah, roads with glass encasements are juts impractical. Now with beds there is even less reason to have them. I see aboveground roads more for the looks.

But you are right about the tunnels/minecarts. Minecarts are a luxury, but the tunnel network will be made (around depth 40, so it won´t mess with anyone´s mines.

That is fantastic Imp!

By the way, I have finished a small guest house near the spawn. So if you don´t have a place to sleep, you can rest there while you look for the ¨perfect spot¨ There is also a watchtower to guide people back to spawn :-) Now to begin the MafiaScum Transit Authority building :-D

The spawn area is a nice and cute bay. It would be nice if each person contributed with a small cottage to make a ¨spawn village¨, even if it is not their main home :-)

I have finished a billboard with all the coordinates that were given to me. It is really near spawn. If yours is not there, feel free to add/update.

BTW, me, implosion and BV just spent a lot of time putting out a huge fire on the mountain/forest near spawn. I believe it is the Lava mountain Tans talks about above.

Tans... DONT PUT FIRE ON FORESTS, SPEACIALLY NEAR SPAWN! If the ¨grief protection¨ mod wasnt on, the whole forest near spawn, my house, and another wooden building in a mountain nearby (dont know the owner) would have burned by now. And who knows what else.

(that said, I still think the mod should be turned off - it saved our asses this time, but it is not really the same thing without exploding creepers.

There is an ¨anti-griefing¨ mod that disables creeper and TNT explosions, and prevents fires from spreading. Since we are having both non-exploding creepers and a forest fire that did not spread, I think that this add on comes pre-installed with bukkit.

The Spider mob farm is complete! Just follow the coordinates near the billboard (It is near the spawn, somewhere between my house and socios' house).

Enjoy some quality time while waiting for silk to be delivered to you in complete comfort and safety! You will never want for bows or fishing rods again! You can even use the excess silk to produce wool!

Road to the silk farm coming soon.

Some screenshots I took yesterday!

The Spawn House - free lodging for the adventurers and new players, just by spawn bay:
Image
My useful (?) creations: warehouse, bedroom, cactus auto-farm, wheat farm:
Image
Image
Image
Image
The overhang at Apokalade's place - this was a few days ago, a house should be here by now:
Image
BV's place, a little ways away from my house:
Image
Esurio's palace in construction, and her house and wheat farm. It is by a huge ocean, something I don't remember the old server having, this world is much more water heavy, which I like.
Image
Image
MME's future farm, I think:
Image
And Mute's place, with some aerial views from a nearby hill:
Image
Image
Image
This is Socio's house, near spawn as well. It has a wonderful sunset view, but it is really hard to get to. Huge cave entrance under it:
Image
Image
And finally: what is this? A small pile of sand and cobblestone with a bed inside... huh?

Guys, a little common sense please...

Someone decided to mine sand in a dune that is not even 20 blocks away from my home. That wouldn´t be so bad, if this person didn´t decide to mine the sand by digging a bunch of trenches 5 levels deep, semi-randomly, completely messing the place over.

Really, I think it would go without saying, but ask before digging so close to someone´s else place! It is not that hard. I probably wouldn´t have minded, if the person would at least take the work to mine the sand by removing the dune in an orderly fashion instead of just digging the random trenches :-(

Well, don´t worry, I´m kinda building over that region. If you need more sand, you can take from Inside the cobblestone circles that I´m laying there. Just dont take sand from outside the circles, because it would be nice for those areas to look natural :-)

Ok, I have finished the MME/MSTA Tunnel, and now I´m working on the MSTA/0,0 tunnel and the MSTA/Grahje Tunnel

If you want any other railway terminal points, just post here.

Also, I have set up a donation box at the entrance of the MSTA. While I have a lot of iron, the new booster packs require a lot of gold, so any gold donations are welcome. I need about 1 gold bar for every 8 tracks (so if the distance between your home and the MSTA is about 1000 squares, I will need about 125 gold bars to connect both)

Chevre: I'm building at the depth y=48.6. With the boosters, the terminal does not need to be very big: a 5 L x 2 W x 3 H space for the rails + the platform for the people is sufficient. Feel free to make it bigger.

Mute: Right now the station comes right under MMEs house. It would not be hard at all to extend the rail to go to your place as well, just give me the coordinates for the terminus.

Great! I built a very small temporary wooden hut over 0,0. But a moss stone shrine will look much better!
Feel free to improve the station underground as well!

Linking rails with the new powered rail tiles is the easiest thing ever. The following lines are already operational:
MSTA - 0,0 station
0,0 station - Joth Chapman´s ziggurat. (Chevre, feel free to readjust the rail lines that I placed inside your room)
MSTA - MME´s continent.

By the way, I miscalculated the ammount of gold needed. 1 powered rail per 26 normal rails, + 4 powered rails for the beginning/end of line. 6 gold bars create 6 powered rails.

Also, my current design for beginning/end points has a problem: if there is a car at the end of the line when you arrive, you will be send back. There is a somewhat easy way to prevent this, but I´m kinda sleepy now, so I will implement that later. For now, if you use the train, PLEASE remember to take your cart off the track after leaving it. (BYOC and take your cart with you).

If you need coal, there are plenty that I did not bother to mine while digging the train tunnels.

As for the cart stop, an unpowered booster track works as a break, so I`m using a setup like this:
Block - powered rail - rail - powered rail - powered rail - powered rail
Where the first powered rail is activated by a button, and the following three rails are always active.

Hey Mute/Esurio, thanks for finishing the tunnel from your place to the MSTA, your station design is very very nice :-)

I will fill it with golden track as I find the gold, thanks for the anonymous donator who left a few more ores in my chest this morning :-D

Actually, yeah Chevre, that is how they do Megatrees, they built them from the top down. You plant the top trees, then a layer below them, then a layer below them, cutting away the trunks that are not needed to support the leaf blocks.

So yeah, a lot of work (and bones!) but not necessarily cheating. I think I saw a thread on the minecraft forum about these megatrees before.

Hey Chevre, no worries. We had a very strange streak of 4 creepings in a row in an otherwise reasonably lighted up building (could be just a run of bad luck...), but all of the damage has been rapaired.

Thanks to whoever did the huge donation in the MSTA drop box. I will use that gold plus some I recently found to help making the Casa-de-Awesome <-> Esurio Connection.

Mute, I´m leaving my spare bookshelves in the MSTA collection box, feel free to pick them!

jmj, not necessarily griefing - Glass has a very low resistance value, which means that a single creeper can destroy a lot of glass. 5x5 is not THAT big, and certainly within creepable range.

There is a large tundra around 0,1000 (or was it 1000,0? I forget). When I have the time, I will dig a train line there, from either my station or chevre's.

Thanks Mute! I have almost finished the Tundra Station, now I just need to finish connecting the tunnel.

Tundra station:
* Lots of snow!
* Lots of caves!
* Lots of High Cliffs!
* Lots of Overhangs!

Really, the area is awesome. I took some screenshots, but I won´t post them right now not to spoil the surprise. We should seriously make a communal town there.

Eek, for some reason Imageshack hates me and will now display any pictures from their site :-(

Did anyone really got mad at the map reset? Most people who build a lot in the previous map moved over the new one.

Apokaliptica´s house is cool.

If you go to her house from spawn, and then keep going in the same direction for a while (maybe 300-400 blocks), you will come across some nice rolling hills with a large-ish lava lake just by the water.

In other news, the rails from Chevre´s house to the Epic Tundra are 3/4th complete! I will finish them when I find myself a little more gold and iron.

Chevre, nether portals are not working yet (only 1.6) - but yeah, we need a community nether base, because the nether is HARD :-( (keep dying to it trying to get glowstone in SSP). Suggestions for the portal location?

Anyway,

http://www.reddit.com/tb/h0564

We need to try this. If it works, it would save loads of booster rails (4 rails for 300 blocks? WOW)

I'm not sure. It seems that grass grows, so I think that we will be seeing grass without having to reset the world. Anyway, I would stock up in seeds just in case in worlds that have no farms.

Remember that seeds also come from farms. In our server, me and MME (at least, probably others too) have pretty big farms. I can provide seeds for anyone who needs it after the upgrade.

Extra info on the ¨tool disappearing bug¨ -- It only happens on tools that are worn. Pristine tools dont disappear.

EDIT: Actually, you don´t need to die. The bug triggers when you drop a tool and pick it up again. Must be related to the dupe bug Notch mentioned before.

Until I found out you could do things like this:

Or make them a retractable stairway like this:

Seems like hatches will be a much more interesting part of the update than I thought! yay!

I found a possible workaround for the tool breaking bug.

It seems that if you put a tool you picked from the ground on a chest. Then close the chest dialog, open it again, pick the tool again, it won't break.

I'm at work and can't test it now. Can any of you confirm this?

Well, the server is back!

Image

And now we have nether!

Image

So, are you feeling lucky?

Actually, we spawned in a very nice nether location, on an island near the "sea level" So we can easily build bridges hopping between the islands to reach other portals, and we can build small towers to reach for the glowstone stalactites.

Sorry for the cobble box around the spawn portal - Because of ghasts the only materias which are generally safe to use on the nether are stone, cobble (and mossy) and bricks - everything else risks being destroyed by the ghast's, so better only used inside buildings.

Thanks for the update, UA!

To anyone interested in building portals to/from the nether, the following long, detailed post will be useful.

http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/345 ... l-science/

tl;dr: If you want precise transportation between the nether and the real world, build the portal at both sides. Portals are not "linked", they always look for the closest portal on the other side. Nether coordinate = World X/8, Z/8 (rounded to the lowest integer).

1.6.6 updated:
- Glowstone now uses only 4 glowstone powder! Yay! (wool also uses only 4 string. Yay?)
- You can use bonemeal on grass to make tall grass and flowers appear. Yay!
- Glowstone drops 2-4 now (requires a pick though)!
- Bed bus in SMP fixed! (didnt think it was too severe)

Also, it seems that bukkit is out for 1.6.6 already

I have played a bit with bonemeal and grass on my SSP world -- its awesome!

MME - I was jealous of you and decided to start a tree challenge as well :-P maybe you can see it from your own tree. Did you do anything else near the huge cave or in your underground city?
Steffuny - Yay! Welcome back! Help us settle the Tundra!

BTW, I'm thinking about making a portal at the look-out point in the tundra later today.

So... I tried building the path for the tundra portal... but the equivalent area in the nether is empty air above a lake of lava.
Now, that wouldn´t be so bad, if it weren´t for the fireball throwing ghasts... but it wouldn´t be so bad, if it wasn´t for the FREAKING BUG THAT MAKES GHASTS THROW FIREBALL SILENTLY IN MULTIPLAYER!!!

GRRRR... at least in single player when I´m building I can hear the damn jelly fire at me and get out of the way in time... but in SMP, they are all wielding silencing guns :-(

That will be frustrating.

If anyone wants to build in the nether, here is a hint: Ghasts shoot at the camera, not at the player, so if you press F5, and keep the camera above your head, their fireballs won't hit you. Good for building mid air.

I don't care. As long as the PC version continues to be the main one, and the others be ports of the PC version.

Hmmm, strange, the underground city portal should connect to the spawn portal, since it is nearer. Anyway, let me know if you need help connecting the portal. I should be doing some minecrafting tonight.

Meh, I can´t see imageshack files for some reason :-(

Been to the MME land! Loved the bridge and the additions to your palace. As I suspected, the underground city portal takes to the spawn portal, not to the tundra portal :-P

I have recently played a bit with Mob grinders in my SSP world - I will try to build a fall grinder (for the lulz) in our server in the near future (probably tonight)

Somehow you ended up on TOP of the nether. Send me a PM if you log in tonight, I can get you out of there. (or if you have /home set, you can leave that way too).

Just build another portal near where yours would be on nether, and it should work. I´m afk on the server now, and will be for maybe another 3 or 4 hours

A huge, hideous mobtrap is almost ready! See if you can find it! (you can't really miss it)

Be careful, it is not totally safe around there, but you can have some fun watching creepers fall to their deaths. You can't really collect items yet, because I messed up the depth of the mob trap... I could put a lava blade, but what is the fun in that? I will dig a bit deeper tomorrow because I'm exhausted for today.

No, really, watching creepers fall to their deaths is FUN! :-P

PS: I'm planning on filling the walls with pixel art later. Any suggestions? (20x36 pixels)

Reck, what are your current addictions? MC can be a light addiction if you just walk around the server from time to time, and add to someone else´s buildings instead of making everything by yourself.

Now is a good time to join, if you like assembing stuff, the new mod just brought the ability to move solid blocks automatically, which opens all sorts of new possibilities.

There is a problem with the Server ATM... UA submitted a ticket. It is a very simple thing, so it shouldn't take long for them to fix.

I haven't yet reached the ceiling for any of my constructions, SSP or SMP. But it would be nice to explore higher mountain biomes.

BTW, there are a few new buildings in our spawn area, thanks MME and Hellhound! :-D Who else has been building these days?

So, inspired by the new constructions, I resumed work on my mob grinder (in the future to be a general item shop). Started the peaceful mob platform on top.

For some strange reason, I didn´t see any peaceful mobs at all for the time I stayed online today, and very few hostile mobs. :-( If anyone has spare wool (colored or otherwise), please share, so I can build some pixel art as walls for the grinder! (and if you have requests, let me know!)

Reck -- I would love to help teaching you the ropes. Feel free to ping me on AIM when you go play.

MME -- If your slimefarm is working I would gladly idle there when I'm at home.

Also, I'm finally past the big busy time I was having last week, so I hope I can build more this week :-)

I'll take you up on that tonight after I get home from work. I dicked around for like ten minutes last night and figured out how to make wood planks, a workbench, and a stick. That's it.

My AIM is Clausscum, or you can ping me on facebook chat as well. You know I'm on a different timezone though, right? I'll be online in about 5-6 hours from now.

MME, your hedge maze is awesome! Just had some fun in there. If you keep expanding it, build a path that takes to a tall tower so one can see the surrounding areas as a kind of bonus :-)

I'll see if I can extand the road from spawn to that region. I have been meaning to do that for a while.

Also, near MME's mazes, there are some awesome square-looking sand islands

1- Go to the nether through one of the regular portals
2- Build a path to x: -160 z: 341 (any Y)
3- Build a nether portal there
4- DO NOT CROSS IT!
5- Go to your house (by walking through normalworld)
6- Build a portal close to the above coordinates
7- ????
8- Profit!

The reason for point 4 is so that the game do not build the normal world portal in an obnoxious location. If you dont mind that, just go through the nether portal and hope :-D
