Ok, after dying I tried to go get my stuff which was only like 60 meters away, but the sheer number of hostile mobs at the spawn pointed ended up killing me again and and again until it was finally day, but my stuff had disappeared.

Therefore, can we turn down the difficulty just a skish?

So I was in anthropology class, and we were discussing the features of a civilization. Through this, I determined that Minecraft cannot be one, while it gets close.

Writing: YES - we have signs that say real writing. Plus, it is possible to make bookshelves.
Animal Traction: YES - was unsure at first, but then I remembered saddles.
Wheel: YES - unless the minecart track is well lubricated...
Plow: NO - we have a hoe, but not really something we can attach to an animal. I guess we can hoe off the back of a pig as it moves...
Metallurgy: YES - we can change iron ore to iron ingots
Standard Measurement: YES - um, blocks, durr.
Sailboats: NO - it appears we paddle the boats/control them psychically. There isn't any wind anyways.
Maintained Surpluses: YES - they are possible. Especially since there aren't food/water requirements yet.
Irrigation: YES - we can make channels to irrigate our crops. 'Nuff said.
Math and Predictive Science: ??? - It's kind of there for us. What I'm thinking is we could wire redstone to a button, so that a light turns on when a mob is at a certain place. That's predictive.
Monumental Architecture: YES - The Giant Sand Wall to the Giant Sand God fits nicely.
Cities: YES - I'd say we have a true "city."
Long Distance Trade: YES - We could, if we really wanted to, I guess.

Kaleidoscope: too much preparation. I like to get up and go. Plus, whenever I'm like, "Oh, I should stockpile on porkchops," the pigs magically vanish.

RayFrost: too boring.

KoC and MME: that's abusing the system, IMO.

And really, it's not like i'm dying trying to make long trips. It's like around my house, in my mines, etc. And then if it's night, I have to battle my way out of the spawn area even. It'd be nice if we could put up some sort of protection around the spawn area.

Actually, me and bv were playing slimes yesterday. I found them and started capturing them in Kscope's glass enclosure, and asked bv to come see. Their numbers doubled when he got there. We were practically trapped.

Ooh, is the server back up?

I was messing around with random seeds, and I must say (to my surprise that the seed "Ke$ha" is very neat. It has a lot of hills, mountains, and other generally tall structures.

My new favorite passion is playing on Hard difficulty and raising a reed farm on the map with the seed of "qwertyuiop".

I've found a nice undeveloped area that I quite enjoy. I actually put a good amount of time into this and made a 10x8x10 sandstone house, with two floors. Now I'm working on a mine.

There is a creeper hole in the road near the spawn point, and yes, I am responsible for it. However, after trying five times to fix it and dying repeatedly, I give up.

If you get on quick enough, the materials are in the tunnel underneath the brick house. Have at it.

So I was looking for a flat seed, and I tried onetreehill. I spawned on ice, and there wasn't a tree in sight. Of course, I had my render distance on tiny, so when I changed it, I discovered that there were slightly sloping hills all around. EACH WITH ONE TREE.

So craaazy. It's fairly flat but I don't know if it's good for our server though because there aren't enough wood resources to go around. 00, one I tried earlier, had a lot of trees but was very mountainous.

The birdcage is FINISHED! I don't know exact coordinates, but it's right behind my house which is at 0, 200. If you get there, you really can't miss it.

I finished a minor project I call the ruins of Brandi, it's at 110, 364 IIRC. It's her half-finished sandstone house, which I converted into a ruined house and mixed up the chests a bit. Stop by if you're in the neighborhood, I guess?

Next project for me is a maze. Location is unknown.

EDIT: After that, I'll probably recreate my art gallery from the old server.

Like in the brief half hour I played my favorite part was the rivers. They just make an easy sort of thing to follow and see where it leads. I also surprisingly liked the experience orbs, passive mobs fleeing (sorta...) and was sad that I couldn't find an NPC village.

I found a ravine, and was like, meh ravine. Then I find another ravine underwater, and exploring that one, there was ANOTHER ravine intersecting it. Ravineception.

There is a mineshaft near my house as well. One of the cave spider spawners has been safetified but I think it is a huge mineshaft and I know for a fact that there is another unsafe-a-fied spawner around there somewhere.

It was actually pretty interesting. I spawned near a giant jungle tree, which I was able to climb all the way to the top via vines. I got wood and built a sword and a pickaxe, then descended and found a cave. This cave lead to a ravine, were I was able to get some iron and coal...I was sitting pretty cushy, in fact.

Then I forgot to eat. Instant first-person-out death.

I really like the concept, but I think it needs to be way smaller or have a map specially made for it. Though I like the idea that you never knew what you were going to discover.

And yeah capture the wool will be pretty fun, though I think we need an arena made on the server for that.

What sort of development is going on around where I live? There's this desert with a lot of sand excavated from it and there are huge 1-block-wide rivets that go deep into the sand. It hasn't really encrouched upon my living space yet but it's kind of weird.

What is the best method to corral pigs? Passive mobs never spawn very close to my house so I need to like lure them about 50 blocks into a pen. I tried a fishing rod...It didn't work.

That for me is a long way. You have to expect me to:
- make it to town without dying
- make it through the nether without dying
- get what I need in the jungle without dying
- make my way back through the nether without dying
- make my way back to my house without dying

And I am especially good at dying. Plus, if it is where I thought it is located on the map, it's a shorter distance for me to go there and back on foot.
