All right guys, here's the skinny. I lost my job sometime in the middle of February. I was able to pay for March, but barely, and I just won't be able to pay for April

Therefor, I am now making this a donation-run server

Q: So you're doing this because you're unemployed? How will we know you'll use the money on the server and not on McDonalds?
A: Once the target amount has been hit, I will not accept any more money until the next month. I think that's the best way I can give my assurance

Q: Will you upgrade the server?
A: If there's enough demand for it, and you the people are willing to chip in for it, yes

Q: But UA, you don't even play anymore. Why do you care?
A: Because, really, JD and I are like the best mods ever. And even if I dont play I'm still doing a lot in the background, like making regular backups since I dont pay for automatics, and nightly server restarts

Q: What do we get for donating?
A: Once Bukkit is released, and we get mods and usergroups, there will be a special Donators Usergroup with their own set of powers and commands, which you'll be able to enjoy for the month in which you donated

Thoughts? Opinions? Concerns?

Do you guys want me to host the server? UA can continue to run it.

I'm a minecraft noob but I just paid for it and it looks interesting.

I'd think that playing around with music blocks / redstone dust and redstone logic shit / misc building projects would be more than enough to keep someone interested in a game. If someone needs to get some shiny bauble just to do something than I feel sorry for them. It's a sandbox, you can do whatever you ****ing want; why do you need some badge saying "I did X, look at me guys!" to want to play it?

Not everyone finds Internet legos as fun as you do.

I think some people got mad over the map reset and buggered off to other servers. Shame, cos MS needs an MC server of its own. Most public servers really suck and most good private servers are run by communities like this.

Could I make a special request to bring back the dynmap chat?

Irc on a computer is fine, but not on my iPad when I'm traveling.

You should look into limechat for the iPhone.

Do the stuff there to learn the basics of Javascript. This will teach you how a programming language functions and the basics of how to code.

This statement has literally had me in stitches laughing for the last 5 minutes.

You can probably learn all that in like

2 hours

on Codecademy.

If it takes two hours to learn how to use basic flow control then perhaps programming isn't your thing.
