March 14th. Last time Oman posted in this thread. To be honest I don't blame him. I remember a time when Al made up shit titles and he got berated for it, he even got a title for it. However we have 8 pages here and there are a number of suggestions here yet I assume that not one of them has been picked up. I do think Oman's title choices are so strict that it won't let any through but at the same title, the titles that are being suggested are not good, in fact they are truly terrible. The fact is most people arent funny or at least naturally funny. For instance, me. Im not a funny guy, in fact amongst my friends Im the straight man. The one others play off of to get a laugh. Now none of you have a straight man and none of you are naturally funny. I mean yes, there are occasions when my comic timing is spot on and I come out with a witty one liner (Im quite good at sarcasm) but more often than not, my jokes fall wide of the mark.
It's like that with title's and with the titles like a few other threads they need to go through a screening process.
Does it make me laugh or is it memorable?
Will other people find it memorable?
Does it stand out?
Does it define that person?
Am I posting a title because I think this person truly deserves it or do I just love my own posts
slightly
too much?
If the answer to all of these is yes and the last one the former then post it and if you still aren't sure then a helpful hint. The first 8 pages are what you are trying to be better than and whilst that is a dig at the standard of titles, its also not. You are trying to raise the standard of what has come before regardless of quality. Not get worse.
Also Im glad we are all such fun happy people but really, there is a line and there is also a thread called inconsequential crap. It's always a good idea to ask yourself (while your asking the questions above) should I post in here or should I be posting there. That way we can pave the way for better suggestions, more people in here and have Oman not close the thread for a month/not come in here for a month. Good idea, no?
