The casino was packed. An anonymous call had been made. The police were waiting. It had been decided one undercover officer, Dillan Bowden was to go in and scope the area. He had been there 20 minutes, gamblers down on there luck, the ever present security, the casino staff. Every single person in the casino could turn out to be a player in what would be the biggest drug bust of the decade.

He put £20 on 17 black. Usually he wouldn’t be so reckless but it wasn’t his money. Well, anything that wasn’t profits weren’t. As he collected his winnings he was tapped on the shoulder.

“Would you come with us, sir?”

Dillon followed the two burly security guards into a large room, labelled VIP. He took a seat round the table looking at the random assortment of people who were now staring at him silently. The silence was broken by the flicker of the large TV flickering on.

“Good evening. I am your host for this evening. For now, there are 20 people, but by the end there will be considerably less. As some of you may be aware, this casino is owned by Eggnogfas Ltd. We also manufacture the new branch of Prozac. Now I’m raking it in and I’m well hidden, no person will ever find me but I’m bored. There is no danger or excitement anymore. So I’ve devised a game, a game Im sure you know well. You find my team of miscreants. I will destroy my empire and hand myself in to the police. If you don’t, you all die!

The casino has been evacuated minus you 21 and locked down and no one can enter or leave. Now... have fun...

Oh and one last thing. Just to show Im serious..."

General

01. This is a game, it's supposed to be fun. Make sure you have fun, but please don't ruin the fun of others.

02. Players are required to know the rules. Whenever a rolepm contradicts the rules, the rolepm applies. Because of this, players are also required to read their rolepm. To prove that they have read it, they will have to confirm by PM with the name of their role, you have not confirmed if this does not happen and will still be liable to being replaced if this does not happen even if you are posting in thread.

03. Any major questions to the mod should be asked through pm. Minor questions in the game thread. Please bold questions.

04. The mod is only a human-anti-depressant based hybrid, and can make mistakes. If you believe you've spotted a mistake by the mod, please let him know.

05. The mod reserves the right to act in the way he deems best for the game. In exceptional circumstances, he could take actions that actually contradict these rules.

06. Only the mod and players who are alive in the game are allowed to post in the game thread. Bah Posts are allowed as long as they consist only of the words "Bah, Go [alignment]" or "Prozac is Awesome, YAY!"

07. It is not allowed to talk about this game outside of the game thread, except with the mod. This includes talking with people who aren't in the game!

08. No cryptography, tiny invisible text or other shenanigans. I reserve the right to call shenanigans. So if you're wanting to do something shifty, ask me first.

09. Do not quote any private conversations with the mod inside the thread. Do not discuss formatting of such conversations either.

10. Not posting is unacceptable. Players are expected to post at least once every 48 hours. If you are unable to do so, please inform us through the Vacation/Limited Access thread. If you do not post for 48-72 hours without prior informing, you will receive a prod. Not posting for 24 hours after that, or being prodded too much will result in a replacement. I won't be rigid with this but I do expect high posting frequency.

11. Players are not allowed to edit or delete posts they made in the game thread.

12. Any action that is illegal to do, is also illegal to fake.

The rules of Mafia

13. The game of mafia consists of days and nights. This game starts with day. During the day, the thread is open for posting, during the night the thread is closed, if for whatever reason the thread is not locked, do NOT post.

14. In the game, players can die. A player has died (and should therefore stop posting) as soon as the mod has posted that that player died. Dead players can still win. Dead players can't use any abilities they have.

15. Each day, the players vote on someone to lynch. A lynched player will die. For convenience of the mod and other players, voting should be done in the format Vote: Player Name. Votes can be withdrawn by unvoting, in the format Unvote: Player Name. A vote or unvote will be counted if, after reading the post, the mod believes there was intent to vote. You do not have to unvote but it will make me like you and it will make you feel good inside.

16. As soon as a mayority of votes (more then half the number of votes) agrees on a person to lynch, that decision stands. Vote changes after that will no longer be counted.

17. It is also possible to decide not to lynch anyone. Votes for this decision should read Vote: No Lynch. It requires a mayority of votes for a no lynch to take place.

18. Each game day will last until the mod posts that the day has ended. This happens if the players have made a decision on a lynch, or when the deadline hits, whichever comes first. Each day, deadline hits after 3 weeks or 2* no of living players, whichever is shorter. If no decission has been made at deadline, then it takes half the amount of votes to lynch, if there is a tie above the limit then the one who reached the limit first will be lynched, if noone is at the limit, there will be no lynch. If in the unlikely situation (like in Basic Theme 1), where 2 scum and 2 town are left going into day and town still have a chance of winning, the game will be declared a draw.

19. Likewise each night will last until the mod posts that the night ends from his last post of the day before. A night lasts at least 48 hours. If a player has a nightchoice, their rolepm tells what happens if they do not send it in during the night.

20. The game ends as soon as anyone has fullfilled his or her win condition, or if there have been three day/night (or night/day) cycles without a death, or if everyone has died.

21. At the end of the game, all players who have fullfilled their wincondition win zebra, and all players who haven't fullfilled their wincondition don't win.

22. The next post won't be BBM's 5000th post. BBM is awesome.

23. Flavour is mostly but not completely randomised.
Roles are 100% randomised.

Due to flavour purposes, vanilla role pm's are not 100% standardised. However this is how all role pms will be constructed and an example role PM for a vanilla townie would be:

Urgh Im back from camping where I lifted heavy things, drank and got no sleep and now you want the end of the day... I hate you all.

It made sense, the waiter. He has access to the whole casino. He could kill anyone of you. You search his pockets and you find several vials of light sedative. It would only knock you out for a small amount of time. Enough to play jokes on the unsuspecting guests by moving two people to the opposite rooms... well unfortunately you found out too late and you had already strung him up using the partition rope and watched him die. Probably should have searched him before hand. Also probably should have waited until Prozac had some sleep before hammering and you would have gotten better flavour than this.

Nina Jones and Michael Murphy had spent years together, first in the village where the drug Prozac first shipped in, this was where Michaels wife died, this was where Nina found her husband had been corrupted by the drugs trade, they fled. Nina and Michael went and hid in a flat in Edinburgh, her husband tracked them down and tried to unsuccessfully use a contract killer. They survived and whats more, they also sent the local Prozac dealer to jail. Now they found the casino which was financing the drug trade. Nina wanted to get revenge on the people who had made her life a misery. Michael just wanted to move on...

So here they are, there first kill ended the life of an innocent waiter. Michael sat thinking over the events of the previous day, he just wanted to leave and start his life over. He weeped silently over the roulette table. He couldn't wait until he could run away from Prozac, from Nina, from Scotland altogether...

There was a crunch behind him, he spun around just as he was shoved onto the roulette table, the spike in the middle being shoved into his chest. Michael looked up to see his attacker. Blood tricked from his mouth and his head slumped back, turning black 17 red... The attacker spun the wheel and walked off.

Nina Jones woke with a start. She felt something bad happen. She turned over and tried to get back to sleep, she had taken refuge behind the casino bar, after a while she decided to take a walk, she walked in to the dark main room. Her eyes adjusted to the dark and she saw something unusual... she saw the body, from across the room, she ran towards it, her pace quickening as she realised it had been her companion throughout her adventures.

With some difficulty she pushed the limp body off the table and dragged him up the stairs and through reception. It must have taken her at least an hour, his blood covering her... she banged on the glass door, screaming for help. She fell through it as it opened easily... it was unlocked... she once again picked up the body and dragged it outside.

"HHHHEEEEEEELLLLLLPPPP!!!" she screamed. "PLEASE... HELP..."

The police had been stationed nearby started running towards her, as a shot rang out. Nina Jones fell to the ground.

You all decided that your mistake of going after staff was probably along the right lines, I mean after all how else would the evil head on screen employ people. The security guard was large and judging from the previous nights kills had the build to push someone onto a roullette table spike, closer inspection also showed he had a gun so could have easily shot Nina as well... So you lynched Henry Sinclair. Security Guard. Mafia Goon.

Apologies for the lack of flavour so far, I now have no computer access until Sunday, so it will probably come at day break.

Derek Walker was worried. He was also a security guard (see flavour above) and he might be wrongly linked to the murders. Something had to be done, he walked to where he thought a bad man was sleeping. He had a baton with him. He would knock him out then no kills. He walked up to the door. Suddenly there was a creak from round the corner.

"I wouldn't go in there if I were you."

A shot rang out and Derek Walker slumped to the floor. The killer looked down on the man, then shot him again to be sure.

One of the students slumped on one of the seats besides the gambling machines and started crying. A few otherscleaned away Derek Walkers body and put it in the bathroom. Suddenly there was a bloodcurdling scream. Everyone gathered on the screaming student, who pointed at the lever of the one armed bandit. Except wasn't a leaver... it was an arm. : Am I correct in separating flavour from method? You are distinguishing between kills made with a knife and kills made with a gun, yes? Or is it completely random in all cases and someone who killed with a gun before may kill with a giant stuffed pink bunny the next time?

There is some consistency within the kills, however as I have said previously, flavour will/should not give you any clues to the mechanics of the game.

I still don't see what you're getting at; I get that flavour doesn't matter, and if the method isn't separate either then I don't think we can separate out kills by their separate groups. It's just new to me not to be able to tell which group committed which kill even if you knew there were multi-groups or scum and SK or whatever. By which I mean, separating kills by "shot", "stabbed", or whatever regardless of other flavour touches. If the same scum group factional kill can look like shot, cut to pieces, smothered with a giant feather boa, or kissed to death by Delilah the Kissing Bandit, there's no way to separate them out by different groups or kill types. And that was all I meant.

Im sorry but Im going to go slightly outwith my bounds as mod here. Do you realise how much disruption replacing someone causes? The game has to play a player down until I find someone then that person has to read up taking more time, in any game someone replacing in, doesn't have the same reads and opinions past players do and can't answer questions about what happened in the past. So you throwing a hissy fit and replacing out because of it negatively impacts my(or any) game, that by the way, I have spent ages trying to get right.

Oh and by the way, I've been going against my activity rule and checking every time I do a votecount and prodding people after 48 hours. I believe I have sent out 4/5 prods. Which is absolutely fantastic on day 3! Now I know CSL is taking the piss and I am very close to replacing him to but see the paragraph above as to why Im giving him a small amount of "correctional" time.

She proclaims she is innocent, that she is a cop as you pull the rope that's attached to the chandelier and then to her neck. The chandelier creaks and moans at the strain, Bunny lover struggles to get free. Those of you that have enough energy watch. Watch as the rope snaps and sends Bunnylover falling to the floor in a heap.

She has bruising on her neck but she's fine.

There was a smell, a really bad smell. A smell like dead bodies. It took you ages to discover the source. Jack Fine. It was discovered that after the 4 days he hadn't been to the bathroom and washed himself down, and he hadn't done too much washing before that. Or at least that was his story. Some of you couldnt help but think that the smell came from the bodies he hacked up. Unfortunately it was just because Jack Fine, was not a fine man. He was poor as can be and the money he did have went on the blackjack table. You strung him up and put him as far away from the rest of you as possible.

The other is a woman, the shy mousy Natasha Barclay. She barely says anything. However, through the darkness, he can see her holding a long samurai looking knife.

In one swift movement, she grabs the door mans hair and swings in one swift movement. The kneeling body falls to the floor. Natasha drops the head onto her foot and kicks across the room like a football. The shadow utterly repulsed starts shooting madly at the horror he has just witnessed. Luckily, they hit the target. Adam MacPherson still had rope burns round his next. His throat hurt, but that didn't stop him asking a question during one of the groups quieter moments.

"There is 8 of us alive, what could possibly be the worst thing for town to hear right now?"

The group thought, and some started getting suspicous. Obviously he had been saved once, but there were still doubts. Was it worth trying again?

"I guess if we were to find we were over powered and all were about to die..." said one.
"If the food ran out..." said another.
"If the people outside decided to level the building" said one extreme cynic.

At that point, someone got up and punched Adam MacPherson to the ground. "STOP SPREADING FEAR, we are choosing him again!"

Adam MacPherson laughed. "Really? You are trying again, well let me tell you something before you kill me. Yes, I am scum. But those two mafia bodies you already found... I have no idea who they are!" He cackled manically. He was stopped suddenly as one of the remaining members of the group broke his neck.

Richard Jones had, had enough. He was leaving, it was a lost cause and he had found an escape days ago...

Night 1

Richard Jones was on the roof. He watched as Adam MacPherson came up to the main door from inside the casino and unlocked the door. He waited silently just behind it. From Richards position he saw that Adam was out of police view. There was suddenly a scream. One he recognised. His wife. He panicked. He wanted revenge on his wife, if this other group killed her. Then he would have missed his chance...

Adam MacPherson obviously was panicked to, as he had run off. A few moments later the familiar figure of his elderly wife appeared at the door dragging the body of that damned physician who helped her. He cocked his gun and looked in the sight. Then felt pity. He realised he wanted to be with her and look after her again. He had enough of these games he had played for the past few years and wanted to go back to normal. He pulled his gun back. However she still went down. How? There had been a shot from elsewhere. It looked like it had come from the enterance, The police ran over and confirmed that she was still alive. He breathed a sigh of relief

He went back down the secret stairs he had found with a new goal. Save his cohorts, kill the bastards who tried to kill his wife and join her or die trying.

Present Day

His cohorts were dead. They had been for a couple of days, yet he hadn't found the time to escape. Now, he had found his opportunity. He ran to his secret stairway and up to the roof. Straight into the barrel of a gun.

"Escaping, Im sorry my boss says there is to be no bodies left..." Lindsay Milward said. "I tell you what though, I'm in the mood for a gamble, you run towards the stairs there, I count to five and if you get there in time you go free. Now GO!"

Instead Richard Jones lunged at her. Giant hands round her neck. He squeezed with all his might. The gun went off, the bullet piercing through his side, but still he persisted until her body went lifeless. He gasped struggling for breath and fell down the stairs.

Jesus, its 4am!!! Why now!

Joanne Keir was the casino owner, she had been targetted as a potential threat to the remaining town members. Unfortunately for them, she didn't have a clue what was going on, her backstory was sound and she sounded totally legitamite. They got one of the seat cushions and smothered her with it. She flailed violently then she was silently still.

A closer inspection revealed however a note in her pocket with targets on it, and notes about all the remaining players. This confirmed it, you had found the last threat. You slept on it just in case, but when you woke and there was no dead bodies, you felt confident enough to remove the key she had been hiding and walk out to the police cars waiting patiently. The police rushed in and confirmed what had happened to the last detail.

Phil Gauld - Casino Manager was allowed to walk free having had no evidence seen that he was working with the owner as was Emma Hammond, Blackjack dealer. Both had been seen sleeping soundly in the managers office and the staffroom respectively. Andrew Hutton left shaken, had to go into rehab but soon went back into studies as a hero, some say he fought the last murderer to a viscous stand still. However those were unconfirmed rumours. That left the non-believer, Stacey Douglas, the one who was about to let Joanne go. She was shaken to the core. She vowed to give up her gold digging ways and live a life of honesty with Phil, whom she fell in love with over the past year but stayed away from to earn her money.

They all lived happily ever after. Except the ones that died.

any questions, my notes beyond what I will say below... the ongoing escapes of bunnylover, so many times... gah! So frustrating.

For the record, for a large amount of this game, I wanted town to win but it was like wanting to punch myself in the face. Only after I decided Id rather see the blue team take it did MoS come forward and propel the town to victory. I think the night kills especially later on worked massively in towns favour and thats how you won unfortunately. Between red mafia sitting on Bunnylover being scum for so long (I'll get to that later) and Stranger and myko shooting each other well... it played into towns hands.

EPILOGUE

1 month later

Richard Jones had raided the pockets of the last person he killed and found an address. This lead a few miles down the road to a cottage. He entered the cottage and found the man on the screen, the man who had offered him millions of pounds to kill his wife and friends(Basic Theme 1), the man who appeared on a big screen and try to kill him and his wife not so long ago. Well Richard Jones wanted a fresh start. Before the man could speak and convince him otherwise Richard Jones shot him in the head and walked out the door.

1 year later - the village where Basic Theme 1 was set

The village was booming, it was the summer months and a lot of people had moved back in, looking for a quieter life in the Highlands of Scotland. The village being deserted was a thing of the past, Richard Jones had seen to that. Making sure the pub was manned and advertising the village as a place to come for fishermen and families wanting a christmas vacation. He however, tried to stay away from all that. Once the village was established, he made friends but he never spent too long conversing. Neighbours thought he was a bit of a loner. However they realised that this was for one important reason.

He had to look after his wife. She walked with a cane now, the bullet had caused a little damage, so she was a little unsteady but overall she was as fit as a fiddle. Together Richard and Nina Jones worked as mayors of the village making sure they made it as lovely and serene as they could. Nina worked with the public making sure they were happy whilst Richard dealt with the background stuff and his wife's ongoing care. They opened a memorial statue of Michael Murphy and dedicated it to all those who had died on the course of there journey. When someone asked, they told the story, except leaving out that Richard was a part of it all.

And they lived there for the rest of there lives in peace.

I had to write a "happily ever after" for my 2 characters who had survived all 3games. It was a shame though, you killed Michael Murphy off. Its the BBM curse of him dying early on in all my games...

Oh and Im going to run a christmas themed game next. It will be a bit different than this, some would call it a little bit bastard-y. It has experimental mechanics in it at least and it will be a fairly speedy game. (as it has to end by Jan 28th) If you want more info or a pre-in (8 available) then please do so. I also need a backup mod. But its meant to be festive and explosive.

Disagree totally, Kat. Coug, myko, nocmen and elli played pretty fantastically. Myko lead you all long after fate had died and there was virtually no suspicion on Coug at all, Im not sure Elli would have been lynched had it not been for the NK.

Town made a few major errors, which means they really under performed.

Activity. God, I don't know whether it was because you were all apathetic, but numerous times I was going to shorten the deadline and the one time I did myko stopped me, even though it would benefit him. The last day (or two) it was like drawing blood from a stone. Even though I didnt announce it, that last votecount I did, I also had to prod the majority of players. I actually thought chk might pull a mislynch out of the bag.

Fate followers. I mean, why!!! He lead you unknowingly down the garden path but you didn't once question him. Im surprised that only me and myko knew about his mason claiming habit. But a large amount of you followed him for absolutely no reason. Which, and Im not going to go back and check, only became good once when xvart was lynched. (which by the way, I dont have a clue why he was lynched)

Bunny followers. Oman had been lynched. He was a cop. Why did it take town so long to figure out that a second cop, particularly one that was only even day, was unlikely. I mean fair enough, it could happen but you already tried to lynch this guy. He wasn't the paragon of towniness.

Myko followers. He fake claimed mason. His links to Bunny, I thought were obvious. This deserved at least some investigation but as he took the lead, none of you bothered.

Thats what really frustrated me about the game. Town under-performed because they were happy to follow anyone who took the lead, when in mykos case, he was scum. He played well but if someone had taken a second to look through. I think he would have had more pressure.

I don't want to take too much away from this win (actually thats a slight lie, I dont want to take anything away from MoS because I think without him you would have failed to lynch Bunny and therefore discover the Blue team) but it was the luck of the night kills that was the main reason you got the win.

If you had died instead of SC, it would have lead to a very interesting finale I wouldnt have been able to call.

That would however entirely depend on who would try to kill who. I could see at least of them kill Kat in that situation. Revealing themselves as scum would only ensure defeat, unless they both go for the draw.
