I mean like, B/X where the X isn't a splash (B/U soulbond, when all the best things Black has going for it in AVR is stuff like Bonesplinters, Bloodflow C., Demonic Taskmaster etc)
"I value knowledge, logic, and deceit. I love to pursue wisdom but also to manipulate and deceive. At my best, I am brilliant and progressive. At my worst, I am treacherous and cold."
I mean... I'm not going to splash B for Taskmaster, but... it's not a patently bad card. Definitely better than Bloodflow C (which I highly overrate because I pulled off fun tricks in a RB deck one draft), and a lot of the other black cards. 4/3 fliers for 3 aren't exactly fun to face.

Do you really think a 4/3 flyer on turn 3 is going to win you the game? If it's not, what are your options?
1) Play 4/3 flyer. Swing every turn. Win on turn 9, assuming no blockers/removal. Yay? Every time you drop a blocker to stall opponent it immediately dies
2) Play 4/3 flyer. Swing minimally. Leave back to block. Opponent gets to build board while you do nothing. Yay? Fail.
lets not even mention what happens if Defang or Spectral Prison is played on it.
You've got options with it though. Whenever it becomes cumbersome you can use it in bonesplinters, sac it to a BFC, even a lame pair with undying Butcher Ghoul. Obviously he's not your only win condition, but he's certainly a playable with outlets.

Because we don't live in a perfect world where you can draft 2-4 copies of each bomb in the set? You've gotta fill out a deck somehow, I'm just saying it's a playable card in AVR mono black draft.

I play MB frequently in AVR and I have never felt like I had to play taskmaster. Like, I think its made it into my deck like 2 or 3 times as a 23rd. I think its really awful.
Furthermore, I think the bitching about "playables" in AVR is just that, bitching. I almost never have trouble filling my deck. You guys are just in the wrong colors if you're not getting enough playables.
Just got back from my first face-to-face MTG event, and got 4th. Not bad for a Blood Artist deck that forgot to buy any Blood Artists.
One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. The charlies were forced to not only surrender the skirmish, but also their world-famous chili recipe, which Sudo sold to Texas for a hefty profit. Sudo is a master of diplomacy.

And I won an 8-4 with this >.>; I've played and watched enough magic to know that having good cards is like, 1/3 of the battle. Playing smart (and the damn shuffler) are the rest.

Grimm's ONLY constructed deck has gone missing... but mysteriously, there are ten empty blue sleeves laying around. Garruk is missing, Terminus is missing, etc.
