Can someone help me with Leaf Green?

My cousin just nuked my Leaf Green and I'm restarting it.
I chose Charmander and caught Pikachu. I just went through the 2nd Gym and I'm just loafing around from there.

Can someone suggest me what pokemon to catch and raise?
Preferably complete with their personality and moves I should teach them.

Oh yes, Dugtrio is in my team atm, but I plan to drop him off sometime.
I did the exchange thingy with Nidoran and now raising that one (more exp's). I like to keep it around cuz it's growing fast.

Wow. This list is actually the order of badges I got from Frontier.
