Well that pretty much confirms AcRv as scum. I'd rather lynch him over Bo, on the off chance the scumteam is AcRv/Tierce or AcRv/rapid. I guess it doesn't really matter either way, though.

It's not the case. Look at things this way from your perspective: if AcRv were scum without Bo, he wouldn't have voted
you
, he would be fine voting Bo; a Bo townflip would lead his Tierce/rapidcanyon partner into D2 without an issue should Bo vengekill AcRv, and would be a scum win if he vengekilled you.

It would be a REALLY devious plan to have concocted without factional communication and you know this. This is not something AcRv/rapidcanyon would pull out, and it's not something I could pull out with such a fantastic collapse from him if we did not have the chance to talk via QT. And you know I wasn't even present at gamestart, since I replaced in--so EVEN if the scumteam could talk pregame, I never took part in it. I couldn't pull such a brilliant move, scum-claim from him included, without rehearsal. Call me as devious as you like, but my ploys are pretty simple.

I do have a very dashing tinfoil hat and it worked wonders here, though~

Hmm. There's no rush in getting the godfather today, though it would be nice to end the game in a single day. No other pairing makes sense, but things are going so well so far that taking such a risk seems pretty pointless when we can go up to D3 (i.e. get two more lynches) via a goon lynch Today. We can get Bo-godfather tomorrow.

UNVOTE: Does Bo Know
VOTE: AcRv

(Plus, 2/2 is better than 1/1 in my SWA count. :shifty:)

I skimmed through quickly. I have a midterm to go write. I'll be back in the afternoon.

Can someone explain to me what "White Flag" is. The mafiascum wiki doesn't make sense in this context.

Good luck!

The White Flag gambit is part of games using the White Flag mechanic. This is a game in which you don't need to lynch all the scum--the last one will surrender upon the lynch/kill of his final partner, making it a town win if you lynch the second-to-last scumbag.

Naturally, this would make for interactions in which the final two scum can't allow each other to be lynched, otherwise they will immediately lose. Normally, what this means is that presumed pairs of players can be discarded as scum if they have no apparent issues contributing to lynch each other; both players become clear as a potential scum-pair. But scum adapt--and this way, they will make a high-risk maneuver that has a very high reward. This maneuver is the White Flag gambit: one of the final two scum will put his buddy at L-1. The town looks at that and thinks that they cannot be scum together, otherwise they would not take such a risk. And
that
is why it's so rewarding for scum to do it, because they are now cleared as a pair and can keep wrecking face.

Vengeful games have a somewhat similar mechanic on D1, but it's one-sided. Only experienced scum will risk putting their godfather at L-1, because that incurs in the huge risk of getting their godfather lynched--but the reward is that the pairing gets discarded as likely godfather/goon and people try something else, hopefully (for the scum) without hammering said godfather. A newbie goon, when cornered, will balk at doing that, and vote someone else (or even themselves).

In this game, I voted Bo, claimed that the scum is two of Bo/AcRv/Hoopla, and what does AcRv immediately do? Agree with me and vote Hoopla. Not Bo! No, he wouldn't vote Bo, and this makes it pretty evident that Bo is the godfather to AcRv's goon. That was why Hoopla and I were pretty much cracking up earlier today, because it's a rookie mistake when interacting with your godfather--and I stated it was clear that AcRv isn't familiar with White Flag.

AcRv has claimed scum and essentially given up by actually voting Bo when he has already made it evident they are partners; the White Flag gambit won't save them now. However, just to make super-duper sure, we should probably lynch the one we KNOW is scum (AcRv) Today and leave the uncertain-ish lynch of Bo for Tomorrow, since scum don't get a vengekill Today. This means that Tomorrow is a 3:1 day, and that D3, if we ever get there, is 2:1 LyLo. We're just playing safe in case I made a crucial mistake clearing you and Hoopla, but it's pretty obvious who the scumteam (and their roles) are.

In post 241, Tierce wrote:Okay, but seriously, look at this. He's panicking. He bought my idea of 2:3 scum just fine, and then found himself in a spot in which he has to lynch one of the others. His reaction is typical newb-scum in a Vengeful--
somehow
, he believes my logic in full (didn't even question it for a moment!), yet he's terrified of putting Bo at L-1, so he jumps on Hoops. Why? Because a hammer on Bo will make them lose, i.e. Bo is the godfather to AcRv's goon role.

Guess someone doesn't know about the White Flag gambit yet~

Convinced yet, rapid, Hoopla? Let's finish this.

Yeah.

Tierce, you just reached a new level of awesome! (I hope you are town this game) I really think I realized what Tierce means when she is good at Obvtowning. The complete exhilaration at catching scum in did not come from scum. And ACRV really did panic.

Since ACRV surrendered, let's lynch him first (how do you do it, Tierce. I want to sign up for more games with you!)

Congrats if scum is Tierce/Rapid, best scum play evar, but I still feel comfortable with AcRv and Rapid scumteam.

Waiting for Rapid to respond to all this before changing my vote to obvscum AcRv.

PEdit: Oh awesome, Rapid threw a vote on AcRv with Tierce, agreeing wholeheartedly that Tierce is town when...Tierce isn't pushing Rapid, and put someone at L-1.

Sounds interesting.

Vote: AcRv

You could say I'm falling right into the white flag gambit. But honestly, since lynching townie me D2 doesn't end the game, at least one scum can get the hell out.

I'd spend time reading relationships between AcRv and the rest of the players, but it looks like I won't have time to do that before being lynched.

Something tells me AcRv's decision to put me at L-1 combined with his "white flag" statement had something behind it besides simple "Bo's my GF." As if he thought outing me for a lynch would still win them the game for scum after D3.

PEdit: Oops there we go, I'm lynched.

I'll be reading the rest of the game, though. Shit's about to go down.

I thought we won. I am not really sure about Tierce-town anymore. It could be a brilliant scum ploy. Now, I really do have to leave, I keep delaying because this game is so exciting. But I'll catch up and post analysis at the end.

Augh. I don't like the excitement in #258, it feels overblown.

Hoopla, are you scum? :(

...I haven't slept yet. Honestly, this is ridiculous. I don't care anymore, I'm going to go mourn this one at my pillow and finally go the fuck to sleep.
