Maybe they could give him a scummy for "Nicest guy" and he could have a banner and everything.

Yeah, I nom'd him for
Un-Scummy
for the same thing here, but nobody commented.

I also think
Not Scummy
would work, since he's both a "good guy", and he didn't have a Scummy award.

I think this is what he's referring to: http://forum.mafiascum.net/viewtopic.ph ... 5#p3998625

In post 132, SleepyKrew wrote:I still think Vamilla Townie > all of those.

I have to agree with SK here. Two of Zor's suggested titles, the first and last, are terribly punny (and no, I'm not using punny as a pun for funny+pun)... "I was framed!" is disingenuous at best... and Hidden Agenda is totally nebulous and completely loses the original reason for the title nomination, which seems to be Zor's main complaint anyway.

On the other hand,
Vamilla Townie
fits all the bills. It doesn't lose the original purpose (hidden miller) in the least, in fact it exemplifies it.

Though I too feel a little :? at the shortening of miller to -milla, we could do far worse. The alternative of Vamiller Townie is much more unwieldy, and loses the "hidden" thing entirely, whereas Vamilla is likely to be missed as the M could easily be mistaken for an N if you're not paying attention or not "in the know." And that's half the fun, right?

Spoiler: Other shite
I wonder what Steve Miller thinks of all this... seeing his name all over the place relating to mafia must be a kick! :P

(a bit of curiosity about role names --and some creative Google search terms-- will get you far in life, young grasshopper!)

According to that page Millers aren't *supposed* to be told they're millers, otherwise it ruins the surprise. I like how they thought of a common breaking strategy (because yeah, claiming Miller really seems to work) and worked to avoid that in the design of the role. How come it's different here? I think it should be hidden from Millers that they're Millers, like this page states.

I don't like the title much (yes, I get it), but I'm not against a title for that incident.

I like something like
Accidental Movie Star
better.
Or even something obscure like
On the air, Unaware
(warning: Truman Show reference)

Is it more for his peers in the multi-headed hydra, or himself? I don't see the problem.

That's like somebody nominating the game they were in for a Scummy for being the most enjoyable.
Whereas nominating solely yourself for a Scummy for something would be "dishonorable", that's not.

Meh, if it's that frowned upon then what the fuck ever. Just saying it makes no sense.

I like this one. It sounds like the title of a metal album.

Actually, it's based off Dennis Leary's No Cure for Cancer album.

Reminds me of that one song which goes "Ain't no rest for the wicked, and money don't grow on trees, I got mouths to feed I got bills to pay, and nothing in life is free" (or w/e the words were for real). Somebody find a youtube link, I don't know what it's called.

I think "Ain't No Cure for the Rabid" would flow well, but it's also much too long, and I think we're getting off track with the "rabid" thing because he's not really rabid, he's just angry a lot.

I want to think of something that relates to his old quote from his signature which was something like "God, give me the grace to lynch the scum, the fury to scream at the stupid, and the scumdar to know the difference" or something. That was effin hilarious

If it means something pretty significant to a lot of people then by all rights it probably has a good chance of going through as a title, whether it was conceived based on something that occurred at a meet or not. If the nominator fails to specify, I don't suspect Oman'd know the difference anyway, unless he did some digging. I'm pretty ambivalent on the issue, but I was just taking a moment to gush even more over some of the most fun times I've had in years. And all with people I'd never met before.

I move for new legislature which stipulates that only people with custom titles can post in the custom titles thread (unless [insert caveat here such as verification of certain events, etc]).

3/4 of the threadshitting problem = solved. And Oman might actually come around more often and do the shit he's supposed to without having to worry about deleting shit.

My 2 cents. Now I'm outta here.

First off, this suggestion was in response to Oman's posts:
In post 0, Oman wrote:Any user can recommend a title for a qualified user.
It is a simple request that extraneous titles are not suggested on a whim, as these clutter the thread.
To recommend oneself for a title is bad form, it is a gift from the peers, not something to bestow on oneself. However, users are encouraged to become involved in discussion of their own title within the thread.
Abuse of the ability to suggest titles, by suggesting insulting, or otherwise frivolous titles will result in that user's privilege being removed.

The Title Fairy Thread is for title discussion. Its fixture in Site Ideas, as opposed to General Discussion should indicate the administrators' view on how it should be used.
While some light-hearted discussion is okay, a good rule of thumb is that title discussion should be the primary focus. Title Fairy reserves the right to delete posts, or split them to General Discussion as required.

In post 145, Oman wrote:I'm sick of the "GreyICE says faggot a lot" jokes. I don't like it, I think it's a terrible thing to put in a title, and it actually got close to me shutting down all GreyICE titles for being a shitposter. Please, keep it out of the thread, I'm sick of deleting posts, I'm sick of reports.
In post 272, Oman wrote:There's a fine line between bickering and constructive title discussion, guys. Keep your focus.

--

In post 562, Mina wrote:...That would mean no one could weigh in on their own custom title.

That would fall under this I guess:
In post 554, UberNinja wrote:(unless [insert caveat here such as verification of certain events, etc]).

--

In post 564, Feirei wrote:The one who posted said suggestion doesn't have a custom title himself.

a) this doesn't have anything to do with anything, especially because I'm including myself
b) duh, that's why I said "I'm outta here", stupid

--

In post 558, izakthegoomba wrote:Are you serious? I could understand it if you wanted to limit suggestions to a certain amount of time on-site, but hell, what you're suggesting would just kill the thread. Plus, there are plenty of reasonable, sensible, and even venerable people who don't have custom titles.

I agree that it's a little steep, but I'm mostly speaking about shit like

this and this and this and this and this and this and this and this and this and this and this and this and this and this and this and this and this and this and this and this and this and this and this... etc, etc, etc...

...not the few good posts that people make in the thread who don't have titles already.

Obviously it could be "people w/o titles or who have not been on the site at least X years or since X date, etc" instead.

--

Also, I think it's the habit of some people to hang around this thread specifically because they want a title. I know that thought has crossed my mind before, and though I now think it's a stupid idea, it did appeal to me at the time.

--

If the powers that be disagree with this idea, fine. I just think it'd make Oman's life a little easier, and the thread a little more on-topic for everyone else. It's clearly a suggestion with room for improvement, so instead of saying "no that idea sux lolol" or "u dont even have a title, gg" why not try realizing that the idea actually has a little bit of thought behind it and could probably make the place a little better if implemented with a few adjustments.

Now, I'm outta here.

There are probably multiple examples of exceptions to any "rule" that Oman has about titles, but a lot of those exceptional titles were put into place by his predecessors anyway, so trying to argue about them under the span of Oman's Title Fairyship is pretty pointless. The reason there is a Title Fairy at all is to create a personal meta for what is and is not allowed, or what should and should not go through in terms of titles while each Fairy is in the position they are in. If this was not the case, then there would not be a position for one sole person to be in charge of doling out titles at their whim or by their own judgement of the community's whims. Otherwise there would be a form you could fill out, and a process in place for any title with enough community support and signatures (nths) to be able to go through. But that's not how it works here.

Oman was here for quite a while the first time he was appointed as Title Fairy, and when chances came to pick a new Title Fairy recently, Oman was chosen again without any significant public outcry. His "re-appointment" as Title Fairy should speak for itself (the site administration likes him where he is, for now). The amount of fuss kicked up when he was reappointed (or rather, the lack thereof) should speak even louder. So again, it's pretty useless to argue about Oman's standards for titles. They're not always going to be 100% consistent because he's human and we all have our inconsistencies, but he's doing a pretty good job and though I would like to see a faster response time for the most part, the quality of titles going through is perfectly adequate. People trying to push through "pet" titles, based falsely on "principle", are doing exactly that.

Either way, it's really not that big of a deal.

Ecstatic is the only one with that obvious drug connotation.
There are lots of "happy" words to choose from though.

http://thesaurus.com/browse/happy

If we want to throw in the "he's gay" thing as well, we could do, say,
Ecstatically Gay
...

...but that sounds a little too forcedly complicated.

I like the titles
Ecstatic
and
Amazing
best.
It's a simple concept, so a simple title works.

Ecstatic
has that extra layer, but tbh I like
Amazing
better.
This says it perfectly:

Perhaps the punctuation threw you.

This is/n't happening is a sentence that can be read as either This is happening, or This isn't happening. The slash provides optional choice, as in "he/she" or "s/he".

You're fucking weird UN, you always seem like you've got some underlying message in every post, just stop trying to impress or insult people, or stop trying to avoid doing those things, and say what you want to say.

Alright. Thanks for the input.

And yes, I did misunderstand. It makes more sense now.

This is why a more active Title Fairy would be great. I feel like titles should be more frivolous as well.

Seems long. Take out "Golden" maybe.
Lord of the Hoard
rolls off the tongue much better. But it doesn't really make sense as the "Hoard" vice "Horde" seems forced.
Lord of the Horde
is probably the best permutation readily evident. But with all that said, I don't think Khan needs a new title anyway.

Nomming Killerjester for Target Practice

its old but still funny

They Will Come.

i like my title because of the whole "if they build it, they will come" aspect and the "they will come" aspect which sounds just a little dirty
but mostly this is a placeholder because I am tired as fuck but still feel this is funny as hell and deserves a title, just don't know what quite yet

I think that if you you know the source and the title still needs a paragraph to make it even close to being relevant then it's probably too obscure. I prefer Target Practice plus as it becomes more abstract and devoid from KJ's actual post it starts to endorse the early game cliche play rather than this specific event.

I disagree. It has a nice double meaning in not only the Field of Dreams context but like he said also in the "they jizz themselves because they get such an easy target" or they "blow their load early because they can't hold it" etc. Crude, but funny if you appreciate it. Also it's not really explicit and it's ambiguous enough. I like it.

I think there's better out there though.

It didn't begin as that. He was nominated for a title for doing something good for the site. He's 13, and he just understandably got a little excited. Please try not to be so elitist, Isa.

but only because of the above post ;)

I think the Connery voice thing is way better than the "monster mash" thing but either way Mishter Mash just works.

Glad this discussion was had. Until next time.

What a ridiculously useful gimmick alt, if that's what it is. Chances to exploit it are surprisingly frequent :P

Nominate
N
for
x
(the OTHER frequently used variable)
Either that or
ƒ( )
or something else math-related.

If it's an alt, chances are good the original user has been here longer than 6 months, and if not, that's already kind of scraping the bottom of the barrel so we'll see what happens when he gets to 6 months :P
