There's trouble in the house of cards. Some evil force is trying to take control of the entire deck of cards, and the soon-to-be powers that be do not have very good things in store. There's one problem for both good and evil, though—the person dealing the cards is pretty goddamn malevolent, too. That's right—the StrangerCoug plays a mean card game. You really don't want to play either of their games, but that's what you're being forced to do.

Can you outwit the rulers of terror? Can you handle the demon panther throwing you curveballs? Only time will tell...

RULES

1. This is a closed setup, which means the only roles you will know in advance are your own and that of any other player I mention in your role PM. All other role information is secret, including how many players with a certain role exist and even if the role exists in the first place. Yes, a game with absolutely no vanilla townies is possible. It's been done before.
   
   THIS IS A BASTARD MOD GAME.
   Expect me to screw up on purpose, do something nasty to someone (get your head out of the gutter!), or otherwise do something to try to get people to hate me for this game. Experience is
   STRONGLY
   encouraged.
   
2. There is a special card dealing mechanic in this game. You will be dealt a card when you get your role PM; this will be the same card as the card named in your role. At the start of each day, you will get a card added to your hand so long as there are enough cards for everyone to get one. You may play cards to get powers as follows (aces are worth one, twos through tens are face value, all other cards are worth nothing):
   
   1. You may play a pair to earn a one-shot follower ability.
      
   2. You may play a three of a kind to earn a one-shot tracker ability.
      
   3. You may play a four of a kind to earn a one-shot cop ability.
      
   4. You may play cards worth exactly 15 points to earn a one-shot doctor ability.
      
   5. You may play cards worth exactly 21 points to earn a one-shot jailkeeper ability.
   
   To earn the abilities, PM me with the cards in question. I will accept any method of wording and/or formatting that clearly identifies each card to be played.
   
   You are not allowed to play zero-point cards in order to get the doctor or jailkeeper abilities. Additionally, once you play cards, they're gone, so use them wisely. Cards held by dead players are shuffled back into the deck before dealing for the next day.
   
3. The preferred voting method is to put vote tags around the player's name, but I will still accept the old method of bolding the word "vote" followed by said player's name, e.g. VOTE: StrangerCoug or
   Vote: StrangerCoug
   . As long as I can tell to whom you are referring, spelling does not count and I will accept abbreviated or otherwise shortened forms of the name of the vote's recipient. You may also VOTE: No Lynch. I no longer require unvotes.
   
4. A majority of votes is required for a lynch, even at deadline. Once a lynch has been decided, it is final and further votes and unvotes do not count for the current day. If deadline is reached with no player having enough votes for a lynch, the day ends in an automatic No Lynch.
   
5. You may continue to post game-related after you are lynched, but once I close the thread for the day, you die and must stop posting in the game. You get one "bah" post after you die, but that's it.
   
6. You are not forced to like each other, but the fact that you badly want so and so offed does not give you the right to insult him or her. Please keep your hatred of people or groups thereof to yourself. Profanity is not in and of itself banned, but if it gets out of hand, it falls under this rule.
   
7. Do not hide text or otherwise hinder its readability by using spoiler tags, invisible or encrypted text, etc. You may, however, post in any color that can be easily read against the forum background other than
   purple
   . (I know it sounds arbitrary to forbid a specific color, but I'm saving my favorite color for mod use since I am the mod )
   
8. Impersonating the moderator is prohibited.
   
9. Unless you're the moderator (that's me, obviously), co-moderator (that's nobody), or backup moderator (that's IceGuy) of this game, please do not delete or edit any posts in this thread.
   
10. You are not allowed to discuss this game outside of the thread unless I tell you otherwise, nor are you allowed to discuss other ongoing games in this thread. You may make your own QuickTopic for the purpose of taking notes on the game at any time, but if you do so, you are not allowed to share the QuickTopic link with anyone until after the game.
    
11. Do not quote any private communication, either from me or from anyone else you are allowed to talk with at night, in this thread. This includes your role PM. You are allowed to paraphrase, but you are not allowed to plagiarize. If in doubt as to your paraphrase's legality, PM me with the wording you want to use. If you have a Quicktopic, quoting mod communications there is fine.
    
12. Claiming to be scum with someone else is prohibited.
    
13. Once you submit a replacement request, you give up the priviledge to post in the thread. If you want your slot back, you must PM me and wait for me to announce your return just like everybody else who wants your slot. If you are being replaced involuntarily (see below), you cannot get your slot back.
    
14. I will issue a prod to any player that does not post for 72 hours without notifying me of his or her absence. (I'm sorry, but I do not check the V/LA thread. If you do not tell me to do so, neither will I check your signature.) If you are prodded, you will have 48 hours from the time of submission to post in thread. Failure to do so will result in replacement. Keep in mind that I have the board time down to the second. I will only prod the same player twice—after that, he or she must post every 72 hours to ensure that he or she remains in the game.
    
15. The fastest and preferred way to get ahold of me is by PM'ing me, but you may also communicate to me in thread if it is day or twilight and you are still alive. To do so, bold "Mod:" followed by what you want to tell me, as in

    Please use your judgment call in whether or not what you want to tell me should be public knowledge before talking to me in the thread. 16. Pretending to break the rules and/or encouraging people to break the rules are themselves breaking the rules. Please don't violate the integrity of the game.
    
17. Rule violations will be dealt with case by case based on severity. This can be a warning (of which I will only give two per player), ejection from the game, or even a modkill. Modkills are not a fun experience for anybody—the players affected automatically lose, I do it in the manner that I consider most harmful to their factions, and I die on the inside every time I have to do it.

The evil queen of hearts snuck up on the unsuspecting jack of clubs... or perhaps the unsuspecting queen of hearts snuck up on the clever jack of clubs. The queen's plan was to toss him in the river, seeing as playing cards don't really do well in the water, but the quick-thinking jack of clubs fought back. They eventually both fell in the river, never to be seen alive again. The jack of clubs had martyred himself to save the rest of you from any further cruelty... from the rebels or the dealer. Order is restored, despite a good chunk of the deck missing.

Who got what cards when in tabular form. Note that due to the frequent need to shuffle, the order of the cards left in the deck after each death has not been preserved and the partial deck order shown in the "remaining cards" is what the order was after AngryPidgeon and GreyICE died.

MOD NOTES

• The death by Soul2277 bombing Salamence20 is not a mod error. Doctor effects work only against somebody choosing to kill the target. Soul2277 never had a choice as to whom to kill (the best he could do was induce scum to kill him), so the kill was processed anyway.
  
• This time around, instead of my typical "lie to the players" schtick typical of the StrangerCoug's Worst Nightmare series, I felt more like saddling the town with annoying negative utility roles. I didn't put any post restrictions this time because my reviewer, IceGuy (whom you can thank for the dealing mechanic, being his idea), thought the inherent swinginess was bastard enough as presented to him. It was interesting to see town faking having post restrictions, though.

Except pm would have caught sala anyway even without our explosion. If OS doesn't mind posting the hydra doc I'll post that a bit later as well (and that game breaking plan did happen since when you take into account our bomb which is also a supersaint we planned out the rest of the possibilities in the doc).

I'm still male, and anyways I'll accept I screwed up reads wise badly. The funny thing is like right after detectives ended I mentioned that in the doc as something against you since I thought you played better there too.
