Ummm, I wanted to go find some Wither Skeletons but my Minecraft keeps crashing everytime I go near the Nether Fortress.

No mods, but I think it's fine once I actually get in the Nether Fortress.

So it's just taking more time and resources to load and/or render it? That's... odd. As far as I know the only difference about nether fortresses is that some of the chunks occupied them are now marked for Skeleton/Blaze spawning.

Okay. I do declare that the only places to spawn Wither is Wither Isle, and you must kill it. Anyone spawning a Wither elsewhere will be banned and then thusly mocked. Also there will be a heavy tax. The tax is a 'take all your stuff if you fuck up the server tax' in according with Article III lines 3-14 of the Mafiascum Minecraft Server Tax Code.
Oh, also: by building on Wither Island, you acknowledge that you are a moron and deserve to have your house nuked. Don't be stupid.

Yeah there should obviously be a wall around Wither island. And hey, for fun maybe we should build some building there. You know, some fake houses, statues of Xalxe, etc.
Also potatoes do almost nothing, carrots on the other hand are used for Night Vision potions, which are rather amazing I must say. Invisibility potions make your "Steve" invisible, but not any armor or items in your hand.
Also you can dye leather armor, which I've yet to try but that should be cool
