So after playing 30 hours against bots I played my first multiplayer game and won! There was a really nice Lion who helped me without getting mad when I made mistakes, but I did fairly well with viper. I have a long way to go, watching some live games and the internationals really showed me how newbie I still am.

I don't really think i'm at the stage where I want to give out my ingame name BB, I only get a limited amount of time anyway to play.

Some hero's I want to try are Gyrocopter, Wisp and Nature's Prophet. So far I haven't found too many character's that I'm really good with.

Great to hear man! When I got into Dota, it was me and 3 of my friends doing constant 2v2s. I think it's crazy that people can start playing the game today and not get completely overwhelmed, so props.

That's kinda what me and my friend did when we started a few months ago. I come from a LoL background but I still just can't get into DotA. Losing completely demoralizes me to where if I lose my first game i'm done. I'm at lower level and lower MMR so all the games take way longer than they should, with the writing being on the wall for far longer than I'd like without the option of a surrender vote, which is probably League's best feature over DotA.

Even though I absolutely hate it from a competitive standpoint(especially as a lower level player) I've found I'm a bit more suited to support heroes in DotA than I am to any type of carry or semi carry(outside of Abaddon who does his move for you lol). I like playing heroes like Ancient Apparition but I still don't how to do things like pull creeps.

Head to your pull camp

Wait around

Attack a creep in the camp at X:53

Run away

Come back

Should be stacked (What happens is creep camps spawn every X:00. The camp has a box and if it detects no units in that box it makes new ones.)

Attack the camp at XX:15

Walk toward your creep way

Should do it


Just practice it a couple times. I know the radiant camp is a bit wierd, might need to attack the camp at XX:16 because it's wonky.

Just random, and then ask others for help. You will get flamed but I ran into a lot of helpful people back in the days of dota1 who'd tell me what items to get and how to play.

HArdest thing was not knowing what the other heroes did so you don't know how to play accordingly.

I didn't like DotA-style games and stuff. Like, my friend bought me a HoN account during the beta and I never used it.

However, it was kind of funny. I was in the second wave of beta invites after TI1(~October 2011). I have no idea why, but they gave me--total noob dude a beta pass. My friend played "pro" HoN so he got in through that way. He ended up browbeating me into playing. And I actually liked it. The next two months I kinda skipped class and played dota upwards of 15 hours a day. Soon, I was on my friend's level.

You can get lifesteal on Mirana if you're going for a harder carry build and you don't have another orb taking precedence. I don't think she does particularly well as the primary carry though, she's much more suited to the Phase/Drum style of carrying than the lifesteal-style of carrying, so I'd rather go Desoloator than HotD/Satanic.
