Okay, I've got it up and running for now.

Let me make this in bigger prettier font:

THE MAFIASCUM.NET TERRARIA SERVER IS NOW UP AND RUNNING!

1. Install the game.
2. Click "Multiplayer".
3. Click "Join".
4. Enter this IP address: 174.97.133.2
5. Leave the port as default (7777)
6. No server password

I will keep this server up and running as much as possible. The world is Large, obviously. I think everyone should create a

new

character for this server so we all start fresh, but I'm not going to enforce that at all.

Eventually I'll be able to migrate this over to an old computer and keep it running constantly. For now, I will just try to keep it up and running as much as possible unless I need the extra computer power/network bandwidth. Enjoy!

As for playing MP like it's SP... I don't really know what to say. I like to dig, to explore. It's what I'm good at. My buildings tend to be utilitarian, if made of fancier materials. Not like your two storey affair on Spawn Heights.

And yeah, it's what Claus said. When I log on and everything has pretty much been done, it feels kinda blech. And when I mine and mine and mine for ore, only to login the next day and find a fully crafted weapon set sitting in the chest that is a tier higher than mine, it kills my enthusiasm. Maybe having a permanent server isn't the right idea -- maybe setting up times for all of us to play together would be better?

Or maybe set a sort of guideline that you don't go and build/dick/explore around on the server unless there's at least another person online?

Yes. You can also have multiple worlds and choose which characters to drop into which worlds.

Do you like peaceful exploration with moderate but slow game progression? Do you like designing and building things? Do you like spending time mining through dirt and stone and then getting euphoric when you finally find some rare ore or stone? Then you'll love this game. I prefer it to Minecraft simply because there's an actual world progression of big bosses and secret areas with rare artifacts and weapons and ores to find.
