Townie Vengeful Godfathers

I've been thinking of a doing a fire emblem game with a slightly new element of play.

one scum group with at least a godfather
and two "town factions" with each faction having their townie version of a gf (possibly some power roles with the chance of a townie godfatherbeing lynched, and coming out with mass town kills).

The townies won't be told who is in their faction, just that they are part of either town camp A or town camp B (For you Fire Emblem savvy people probably Ostia and Pherae and if their lords are lynched then they lose too)

Is that overpowering the scum too much by putting in a town godfather? it would probably be four to a scum group, and either 6 or 7 to each town, or three groups of of town with around 4 or 5 each?

EDIT-Apparently mayors already exist. = D

Do the two town factions want each other dead? That's been tried before, with mixed results.

About the only time I've ever seen it really work was Checkmate mafia. And, while that was an interesting game, there were something like 8 nightkills every night which made the lynch mostly irrelevent.

I think Civil War Mafia was also an interesting concept, and I would have been interested to see how that went if it hadn't died.

No, town is working together, but they don't know who is who still.

EDIT-The Townie Godfather would work the same as a Mafia one. They only take their faction down with them if s/he is lynched. Mafia would get one night kill and various other abilities. Town would have two combined probably, so it would be a mafia game instead of a nightkill war.

Oh I get it. Vengeful-style godfathers.

I don't think I understand what you gain by giving the town godfathers though... I don't know how cool it would be to possibly have 6 or 7 townies die with one lynch.

it's to implement a new idea, and tie into an aspect of Fire Emblem (especially 7 and 8, because there's more than one lord)

If a Lord dies, you get an automatic game over, and have to restart the chapter. To balance this out, I've been thinking of making it three different "camps" consisting of four people. That would be around 12 town versus maybe a scum group of 3 or 4.

Town would have some power roles to balance out the adverse effect of a town godfather.

I figure out how to balance this! Ok, so if one of the townie vengeful godfathers dies, who ever was in their section/camp of the town automatically has their powers neutralized, and all essentially become vanilla.

Maybe you can assign two GFs to a group; you're dead only if they both die.

Well, I'm trying to make it so that it doesn't become the scum's only strategy is to lynch/nightkill the townie GF's. It's advantageous for them to do so, but won't completely devastate the town.

I was originally doing this by making them into factions and such. Unfortunately, as has been pointed out, it's extremely devastating no matter how you divide it, if suddenly four to six townies die out. (technically I guess it's the same thing for scum, but it's more bastardly)

Now, the scum still will have some work to do, trying to sniff out the townie godfather(s), but the town won't be completely and irreversibly incapacitated or such.

As things are looking, this might be run later in the year = )

I mostly think of a gf to be the exact same as normal mafia, except to be investigation immune. Maybe sometimes the gf is the one who has to send in the killing to the mod, if he's still alive.

They are treated differently in vengeful though, more like what IH is talking about I think.

This game looks interesting, and Fire Emblem is good.
