As in the film? I don't think so...it'd be tough to find enough Uninformed Majority roles in a film like that (I had the same problem with Usual Suspects).

yes, the film.

the premise of it seems like it would involve multiple families. and uninformed majority roles would be hard to find.

i suppose a good film to base a game on would be the departed [excellent by the way]

in any case, after 316 finishes up [or i die, whichever comes first] i would like to create a Godfather-based game. ill do some research [sitting on my couch and watching the godfather] and find some roles for the town.

heck, for the usual suspects, the ones who THINK that they are the informed minority ARE the uninformed majority.
Now, life is civilized. Once there was a city, barbaric in its ways. Yet, they were an empire. But even before that, they were two brothers. They fought. Remus said ow, and it all began.

I've thought about it a few times, but it would pretty much have to be one of the best games ever, simply to live up to the theme, and how well the theme fits this game. Designing it would just be so much pressure.

Not that that shouldn't be a turnoff, but it couldn't just be a throwaway theme game, it'd need so much thought into it.

yes, i agree wholeheartedly. this is not a theme to be taken lightly

im going to put a ton of time into the design of the game. and the roles used

there may even be sequels

Reservoir Dogs was like that; the cops were the infiltrators amongst a group of crooks just trying to get along... I didn't want to do another game like that so soon after, plus I've got a couple other reverse games in mind.

Doesn't work. It would destroy the purpose of lynches.

I got it to work in a ScumChat game, though I had to keep the "there are no pro-town players" notion secret from the players. No-alignment reveal, Goons were simply revealed as "having no abilities."

It was amusing to get priviate IMs from players as they made the revelation. It was more amusing to watch them try to use this revelation without giving it (or themselves) away.

IIRC, the game ended in a tie because two Mafia Roleblockers made it to endgame.

More than anything else, though, it makes the daygame completely random/useless. If everyone's motivation is "kill anyone not on my team", lynches give you very little information. That's the whole idea behind the Uninformed Majority (or at least Plurality): you can't just lynch blindly because that person MIGHT be on your team.

Look up Gay Mafia in New York and the Rock Paper Scissors mini for examples. NYPD Mafia was similar but not exactly the same, if I remember correctly (should also be in New York).

thats a good point. i suppose an uninformed majority is quite necesarry.

[mental note: make uninformed majority]

Modding Requirements to the rescue; a large-size Theme Game requires two successfully moderated games.
