Wait so, a rediret in this game failed because someone tried to move an action from a Commuter to somewhere else?

Redirect applied before the action happens.

That makes perfect sense, and I had completely forgotten about it. I was too busy thinking about all the parts before and during the end to remember after the end.
Eavesdropper - Between this and the Time Traveler, this is probably one of my favorite roles in the game, possibly because they are the least standard. Its power is subtle: Scum either risk revealing something to the Eavesdropper, or hamper their own communication in an attempt to obfuscate.
They could always play the probability game and make 9 posts in every 10 consist of nothing but the word "CAKE!". Or make a codeword and then only pay attention to posts with that word in it and make a bunch of false posts where they WIFOMed.
Who said that?

@AP: I resolved commuting before anything else.

@Who: Except, as I noted, I was going to put a lower boundary on word count for the Eavesdropper (probably 5 or 10 words). Code word probably would have worked, though.

From the mod QT:

Some mod notes:
-I might slightly reduce the randomness of don't take it personally by only giving it messages which exceed a certain word count (no randomly receiving someone just saying "ok"). This is largely to increase the fun factor.

So yeah, we could have spammed our own QT, but apparently the mod would have overridden it. We also didn't know whether our messages would be transcribed in whole or with mentioned names omitted (we knew our quicktopic user names weren't attached, but that was all) which meant that all of our communication had to be cryptic or straight-up lies until the spy died. And even then, say we had lynched TS the first go-round D1 and Who died that night: we'd have been speaking freely at night and then had TS get resurrected to get a message after we thought we were safe.

I'd suggest for future implementations of this role making night talk guaranteed eavesdropper-free. If we'd had to figure out which mask ETL was going to use with a spy in play, it would have been incredibly tedious. Daytalk, fine, it's a perk for us to have used at our own risk. But taking away the 'informed' part of an informed minority could have been far more problematic.

Thanks for the game, even if I did think it was Indie Board and Card Games UPick when I dragged Mala into it because I fail at reading comprehension!

A while back, I played a game that had a mechanic similar to the eavesdropper. The scum team used it to frame a player who always misspelled "likelihood". She was lynched on day 2 in large part because of the word "likelyhood" in the revealed (anonymized) scum chat.

I had wondered if you guys had tried to post stuff that would incriminate a town player.

Post in immaculate grammar with every possible contraction made and little/no adverbs/adjectives to frame me.

Sounds like fun.

No one in particular. I think I trash talked ourselves a bit, and Mala and I agreed that until the eavesdropper was dealt with I'd be the one posting in the scum QT using singular rather than plural language. If there had been anyone with super-obvious language quirks I'd have considered emulating them, but I was also trying to keep my own posts as clean of my style/pet turns of phrase as possible. Not sure if Grimgroove was going for anything like that with his posts.

BRO did you miss my rift crumb? I went through the whole game from that point thinking that you knew who Zoya was.

I missed the Rift crumb, although I did think you were Nacho based on how you were interacting with me.

Knowing Zoya's a girl before this game started would have probably helped...

Also the redirect would have hit me b/c actions were being resolved in non-standard ways.

I was actually trying to obscure my style on day 1 and part of day 2.

I wasn't emulating anyone in particular though.

I've never played with Ffery (Well, I think I've played with ffery in hydras but I do not know ffery's playstyle at all and would never guess ffery for a questionable identity) so I had no chance of getting it right, out of all the people I could have guessed, for some reason Zoya reminded me a lot of you from 191.

That was after it was public knowledge I think.

I'm still a little surprised I wasn't on the table as a possibility, but I guess there is a default assumption that an unknown MS player is male unless otherwise specified. I was actually role-playing a tiny bit on day 1 and early day 2 - I had a rough sketch for my head's personality and writing style, and in my mind Zoya was definitely female, as the character in the game is. That might be why the Nati comparison happened. He sometimes gets into a stylistic writing.

There's the default assumption that an unknown MS player is someone I have experience with, the only game I've played with you you were in a hydra with cabd and I didn't try too hard to differentiate the heads. Also that game was sorta strange in that my primary goal was to get everyone to believe in fairies and your primary goal was to keep doing scummy things without getting lynched. But if I had never played with Zoya I had no hope. I did think about the conflict between Zoya being a female character and Nati being male, but out of the female players I've played with you didn't match any of them.

The redirect dealt with who bro targeted, before he hid. The commuting didnt affect who he targeted, nor the redirect. The redirect changed his target BEFORE he hid and should have gone through. That, imo, changed the game tremendously and I am very disappointed with that particular turn of events. It was resolved incorrectly.

I disagree with this. How does a Redirector target someone who is untargetable?
