So I just got a beta key from a giveaway http://www.tentonhammer.com/ is doing, Reck seems to like it a lot so I'll probably be giving it a try either tonight or sometime this weekend
Anyone else playing it yet?

Kinda wish the two factions were a little greyer instead of one being obviously the *evil* one, I'm expecting the faction spread to be even heavier than in WoW because of it and although it won't matter much it'll be kind of irritating if they have areas with PvP objectives and no population limit for the area
The dominion human opening area has you wake up, scan for dissidents, and then send them to their death by scientific experimentation
like they do pass off the experimentation as *woops we're bad at science so our test subjects instantly froze to death* but it seems a LITTLE EVIL reck
Just saw the news about Frost leaving and thought a bit about why I didn't get very into it
The zones felt pretty big to me in that in the first major zone I played through i tended to get bogged down in how long I'd already been doing things in that area, especially since each little hub tended to have its own story that was only loosely related to the others near it.
It's cool having that many things going on but it doesn't really lend itself to feeling like you're progressing through a bigger narrative (although the elder cube lore things did help some with that)
and while doing all those quests everything felt like a very very slight upgrade- aside from the shield and weapon slots I don't think I ever actually noticed a piece of equipment actually making me better against the monsters I was currently fighting, especially when it seemed to ramp up to a lot of item slots to keep track of really quickly, so I never really cared about finally finding my first 'good' item for that slot from a big quest chain or boss monster.
The last big part that I don't think is their fault is the lag/input delay during combat for me- I'm on $20/month internet, which is fine for pretty much everything else I do, but isn't quite good enough for Wildstar I think. Being unable to really strategize in fights when you know that you can't rely on your abilities triggering right after another really hurt the combat for me.
I really liked a lot of the mechanics and concepts of the combat system+events+endgame though and I am a bit sad that it looks like it might be going downhill.
haven't faced any lag issues at all like I used to so far, the zones I've been in seem kind of deserted but that's probably to be expected since I'm only level 15 and have been playing in off-hours
