There was the B/W '8 main deck Wrath of Gods' deck too!
In other news, I really hate this theme of naming new decks after old decks
Like, why is it 'Sultai Dredge' or 'Ascendency Storm'. They have very little in common with the respective decks except one self-mills and the other casts a bunch of spells.

Hah! That's kinda awesome.
I really hope the jeskai ascendancy deck is good. If there's a s
Incidentally, I like the name storm for that deck because I do think it plays out pretty similarly to most grapeshot-style storm decks, even if it requires a bit more setup on the board first. (Mostly I think, play a bunch of spells is the defining feature of storm decks - yeah, I would consider things like eggs and ghostly flicker combo in pauper to be storm decks too). Seems like a decent direction for standard legal combo (need a board presence, fast but not lightning fast), though, which I would love to be a thing.
However, I totally agree that sultai dredge is a dumb name. It really doesn't do anything very similar to dredge decks except use its graveyard.
(10:50:24 PM) xcaykex: GODDAMNIT I DONT WANNA GET RID OF MY TENTACLE RAPE PORN
I just burnt all my phantom points that I amassed from... somewhere? to do a bunch of cube drafts. For the first time I didn't just lose round 1, built some sweet decks, made two finals, lost both. But was worth it, would do it again.

Wait, it's possible to lose phantom points in the Cube? I mean I generally play Swiss unless I really want to play the Flashback format (and I had no interest or Tempest/Innistrad) but I'm a 2-1/3-0 machine in those getting my points back and sometimes more.
I typically force mono red in the 8-4s and win them pretty easily to freeroll both new 8-4s and phantom packs, but they've made mono red basically unplayable in this recent cube iteration.

I did actually lose to mono-red the other day but yeah, Shrine and Fireblast being taken out are massive cuts for Mono-Red. Usually I draft Gr or Gw because it feels like the big dumb beaters are usually underrated by people who are all fighting over Blue.
Nah, only other changes to the cube from past unpowered iterations at least wrt mono-red is removing Hellspark Elemental, Ball Lightning, Genju of the Spires, and Zo-Zu (with the addition of Rabblemaster certainly offsetting the last two). Link
And yeah, I force Eureka/Tooth&Nail/Sneak Attack whenever it's an option.
Josh Utter-layten was advocating for the banning of ascendancy in modern, and I really wouldn't be surprised if that happened, so enjoy it while it lasts.
The nice thing is besides the hierarchs and lands this deck is pretty cheap, and the hierarchs and lands are applicable to other decks in the format, so its not like you have a lot of things to be wary of purchasing because of a potential ban hammer. Glittering wish is still around like 10, right?
I don't remember that, but its possible. I know he's talked about bannings/unbannings before a modern protour being a good thing just to shake it up so people actually have to test. It's possible he made that comment within that context, not the context of them being too good.
I want GSZ, Gravetroll, and Sword of the Meek unbanned. As long as Dread Return is banned, I don't think Dredge is degenerate especially since RIP and Cage have been printed. GSZ is probably a little iffy--in addition to Devotion, where it's obvious inclusion, it probably helps Bloom Titan, Hexproof and Hatebears. Dunno if it is good enough to make those decks tier one, but I'd like to see the card have a chance again. Sword of the Meek gives control a buff by having an actually reliable win condition combo kill. It gets hated out by a lot things and the addition of Abrupt Decay likely makes the combo nowhere near as powerful as it was. The increased power of combos in the format might actually allow Bloodbraid Elf to become legal to help out BGx. From there, ???. I also think that Stoneforge might be balanced if we ban Battleskull, but I know that will never happen because Batterskull is the quintessential 'well this is a midrange nightmare' sideboard card.
One of the few things the Pokemon metagame(which, in singles, is surprisingly similar to Magic) does right is that they 'Suspect Test' previously banned/questionably balanced 'mons from time to time to see if they're still broken or not after large meta shifts or bans. I really wish there was a way for the DCI to implement that on a large level.

Stoneforge would probably be only very good if they banned batterskull... for now. Once they want to print other expensive equipment Stoneforge becomes dumb again. It's the broken card of the 2.

That was a fantastic series.
As far as Josh Utter-Leyton and Ascendency, he was talking about it on CFB's Magic TV last week. It wasn't so much that he
wants
it banned the same way he might for Bob/Goyf, but that he thinks it's actually broken and was a mistake to print that will
have
to be banned.
