i do think we maybe should have talked a bit more during the pre-dance phase.

reck is a mostly town read right now. mollie following with some slight hesitation but i was rather drunk last night so i'm gonna re-read the pre-dance pages. pretty much not going to let myself be paranoid of anti because i wont be able to see anything if i do. he's town until he gives me a reason to believe otherwise. and that's where i'm at.

well, in the last game, scum won but were initially caught due to the way they paired up with each other. reck's post to you and your response to him didn't seem orchestrated and it came off rather carefree to me - not like he was looking to pair with a particular person. a lot of it is connected with how you responded to him, which makes me think you couldn't be his partner, so if you're not, why would he ask you beyond being good friends and wanting to share a PT with you? that seemed pretty open to me.

So basically, in the last game, people got trigger happy with the "leave the dance" mechanic, thinking their partner was scum. We have the same thing here. Now, the thing is that scum's best chance in that game was to pair with each other and let the town paranoia kill themselves in the process, which is exactly what happened. Pairing up separately with town was dangerous because of the suicide mechanic - the mafia started out as lovers so killing one, killed the other, and town suiciding on a mafia lover would end the game instantly in a townwin.

FG said he tweaked the setup a bit and based on the description in the queue, it seems to me that mafia partners may be any gender, and they are no longer lovers, but this is really just my own speculation based on what seems to be missing from the description that was listed in the last game.

However, assuming similar mechanics for the time being - if Reck was scum, and you're town, pairing with you is not only dumb because of the suicide option, but because you are friends and know each other's meta.

In the last game, we had decided to vote on who to kick out rather than allowing the pairings to be the decision, and then tried to decide as a group on the pairings themselves. Something I completely forgot about mentioning and we totally should have done, because at this point, there's not much to analyze in the way of how the pairs were formed. But what's done is done.

My suggestion would be to have everyone explain why they chose who they chose.

The previous game had an obvious breaking strategy due to the mafia being lovers among themselves, which made the pre-dance pairing critical.

This time, it looks like that isn't the case. The only thing that mattered is that scum gentlemen had to get a partner.

There are a couple of minor oddities from the pre-dance I want to discuss, but I want to talk to marquis first. He's LA or whatever and hasn't yet posted in the PT.

Yeah but I still think scum would wanna pair with each other since it reduces the risk of being caught via the PT. Definitely not as useful re: watching the pairings as it was in the last game though.

I don't like your reaction to me, and I don't like the fact that you simply dropped it. And I don't like that you take my word on Reck being town but not Anti. What's the difference, considering you've played the same amount of games with Anti as you have with Reck (and probably more really...) You pass a read on Reck citing "I trust you as town", when my ability to read Anti is far stronger, but you waffle on him. In fact, writing this out now, it seems you would be more wary of Anti reading YOU correctly than Reck reading you correctly.

Because town are the uninformed. I said this in the last game and it's true - giving the entire town the ability to take the lynch into their own hands is a bad idea because people always think they are right and everyone else is wrong and it takes a lot to get people to work together and compare notes properly. Look at what is happening right now. If both ika and bob are town, we're down two town, and essentially put ourselves directly into LYLO. All because someone wants to throw a fit and be a martyr. It's not fair to the rest of the town. Unless you actually believe that your partner is scum, and you are willing to be the entire game on it, don't fucking suicide. We're better off coming to a consensus on a lynch that we all agree on and have a voice in than allowing people to off themselves arbitrarily for selfish reasons.

1. in the other game you linked you were all about deciding the pairings prior to the asking and yet you made no mention of it here. in that game you were trying to weave town together into a plan of action and I am not seeing it here.

This is true. I mentioned it after the dance started that I'd forgotten. That game was also in the summer while I was out of school. I'm currently working 50+ hours/week and going to school full time. This is also not my only game or my only obligation on the site currently. There are probably about 20 or so people who can confirm that for you.

2. you are being pretty sticky with your read on me and your read on reck. like reck is super duper town! and somehow I am not. <----- there doesn't seem to be a lot of thought in these and it kind of looks like you are trying not to make waves unlike the last game which I haven't finished reading.

Town can still win even if Anti is town. What's the difference strategically between me suiciding now, or waiting maybe another 24 to 48 hours to argue over it and get lynched anyway, and then you have even less time to put the pieces together?

this post, mollie also, i had decided to townread him beyond all doubt just to remove any distracting paranoia (really helped me with him in How do you want to die). But I was still looking for [something I wont say so he doesn't change it - I'll tell you later ] and he wasn't doing it. I also thought that townAnti would have a lot more to say about you/reck convo, considering his trajectory was to scumread you in our PT. I felt the conversation really clarified your slot and was expecting a significant comment from him about it. He didn't say anything so I asked him, multiple times, and even in the face of possible death, he had nothing to say. And then all of a sudden he's positive that you were the all town pair. It just didn't fit. i still was extremely uncertain though and really wanted to believe he was town. basically only hoped he was scum so the suicide wasn't for nothing. a lot of it was luck tbh. i think i could just as easily have been wrong
